We take cleaning seriously and have never had a cleaning complaint before. I was surprised to hear those items were missed when I checked in with the guests after their arrival and I shared the concerns with my housekeepers. I offered to have a housekeeper come back to the house but the guests declined.

I’m sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the house. When we exchanged text messages shortly after check in I asked you how things were with the house and your full reply was “This is an awesome location I cannot believe how quiet and peaceful it is here”.  If you had let me know you were unhappy with the cleaning, I would have been happy to have the cleaning person come back there the following day.  She could have remedied any problems while you were out and about doing other things.  Earlier in the season there were some ants and the ant traps took care of the problem as I did not see any ants when I stayed at the house myself at the end of August.  I left the ant traps in place as a precaution in case any ants tried to come back.  I also did not encounter any flies when I stayed at the house at the end of August. The guests who stayed the week before you must have encountered some and must have put the fly strips up.  I see the strips caught some fruit flies. If I had been alerted to the problem by the guests, I would have advised making a simple trap with apple cider vinegar that I have among other stock items that I keep in the kitchen cupboards.  That would have taken care of the problem very quickly without unsightly fly strips.  If I had been alerted that the fly strips were there, I would have directed the cleaning person to throw them away.  I’m sorry they were hanging up when you arrived.  For the grill, there is a wire brush cleaning tool with the grill that I use to clean the grates every time I use it. I heat the grill for a few minutes then use the wire brush to clean the grates before putting the meat on the grill.  I have assumed everyone would do the same since the grates should be brushed before every use.  I replaced the metal plates that cover the burners at the beginning of the season and I have a new set of grates and metal plates on the way to install at the beginning of next season. The water comes from an on-site well as would be true of any house on Glen Lake. The house has a water softener so the tap water quality is as good as it gets for Glen Lake. The water from the refrigerator water dispenser is filtered.  For someone who prefers purified water, Anderson’s Market in Glen Arbor and EZ Mart in Empire both sell the usual jugs of purified drinking water that can be purchased at most any grocery store.  In the eight years I have been renting out the house, no one else has complained about the water.  Going forward for 2026, I have made arrangements with a cleaning company that will be sending a crew of 5 people for each cleaning and that will be sending the laundry out to be done by a laundromat.  I have also ordered two custom made upholstered armchairs for the living room to replace the two plaid upholstered armchairs.
