Wonderful home

This is a beautiful home with a lanai you never want to leave. Central to everything. The property is clean and well maintained. Also, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and all the usual items. You can’t go wrong choosing this property.

Oceanfront Paradise!

We stayed here with three couples and several children under 3 years old. The ocean view from the house was amazing to wake up to every morning, the large Lanai perfect for letting the little ones roam free up above the pool level. And the beach which is basically across the street was fantastic to have so nearby! Overall a fantastic house with lots of room to spread out. All the possible amenities one could want in the kitchen as well. We would love to come back and stay again.

Great Oceanside Location

Great location. Great pool (not heated, but ok in December) and outdoor space. Lots of space inside with comfortable furniture. Sea breezes and fans counteract lack of a/c, although space above garage gets a little warm (even in December). The pool looks very new. The rest of the house is clean and tidy, although the wear and tear of the marine environment is evident in places. We had a great time!

Slice or Paradise

We loved this house. It was in a great location. 1/2 hour from airport and all major shopping. Close to small town shopping. There was plenty of room for me and my husband and our 3 grown children and significant others. As in previous reviews, it could only be made better by the addition of air-conditioning. Specifically in the garage apartment. It was just too hot. The house does have some wear and tear. But typical of a house on the ocean. We played in the pool every night under the stars. The Milk-Way sat above us. It was the perfect temperature and so magical. There were sea turtles outside the front and even some of the most magnificent rainbows ever seen. A very special trip.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: An amazing location in a quiet (other than the roosters!), location away from the bustle of tourists. A wonderful walk to Spouting Horn or the Botanical Gardens or along the path to a close-by shopping area. House was perfect for a large family with great ventilation and lots of room to spread out. Towels and linens were wonderful, garden and pool were lovely and well maintained. House needs some maintenance and being right on the water really takes a toll on things. But rental company very responsive to get things resolved. My only suggestion would be for longer term rentals to include cleaning once weekly in contract.

Family vacation in paradise

Our one issue was that the kitchen freezer wasn't working most of our stay and we didn't know there was a problem with it until we arrived from the airport with groceries in hand. The new refrigerator arrived late on day 4 of our vacation and took a few days to work properly. We were disappointed that the management company never told us there was a freezer in the garage we could use when we arrived. Separate from having no working freezer until our last day, we would highly recommend the house.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property!

Our family of 5, (kids 6,10, and 12) thoroughly enjoyed this property. The location is wonderful, super quiet and peaceful but very close to town and all the restaurants/beaches. The beach/boat dock 2 houses down is also super fun and a nice swimming spot without many tourists. House was super clean and well appointed. Great kitchen. Pool is deep for little kids. It goes from 3-5 feet, but the 3 feet section is very small so our youngest needed a float of some kind. Turtles surf the waves in front of the house, and the ocean crashing begets the best sleep of your life. The only drawback was no A/C. When we arrived and realized the house had no A/C my husband panicked! We had a Maui vacation without A/C that was brutal. In the end, when all the windows are open, this house stays really pleasant. Lots of fans and cross breezes. We stayed at the end of July and we were never overly hot. We loved this house, think it was a good value for the location and quality of the property, and we can't wait to stay there again.

Great but needs a refresh

Great home, but needs some tlc. Sheets and towels for example very old and tired. Too much polyester!!! We asked for more beach towels, as they were dreadful and thread bare, and only 8. It meant that if you swam at the house and then wanted to go to the beach, you had to take wet towels, as there were no spares. When we asked for more we were told to wash them!!! All the dinner plates had chips in them. Superficially clean but blinds and lamp shades for example were filthy. Sorry am fussy, but overall it lets a great place down. Excellent location and overall, if they gave it a super clean and updated some things, I would recommend it as a great place to stay.

Aloha Amanda, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we will be planning to replace or clean all sheets, towels, plates, lampshades and blinds at the property. We apologize for these items being in this condition upon your arrival. We offer as many beach towels as there are guests and with an onsite washer/dryer we feel it is adequate to use on your vacation. When you departed the property it was clear you had more than 8 people staying at the property as evidenced by extra cots that were picked up by a rental company on island the day of your departure. The house was also left in really bad shape (never seen so much sand!) for our cleaning crew and considering we made special arrangements to allow you to check in 5 hours early on your day of arrival with no additional charges since your family had a long flight from New Zealand. We are happy to hear that overall you had a good stay at Kukuiula Kai. A hui ho! Mahalo, Garden Island Rentals

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 45 days on island, only two days of rain. We have been coming to Poipu for 25 years and have stayed many homes along the south coast, the last three years at Kukui'ula Kai. We love the property, amenities and location. Single story, on the water, private pool, lush grounds and sideyards, Hawaiian plantation style furnishings. Relaxing, healing and comfortable.
