Thank you for taking time to write a review. As you know, reviews are an important factor when making travel decisions. I am certain that the review rate (100% of 5* ratings) on my property, along with the many comments that recognize my responsiveness as a host, the cleanliness of the condo, and the extras provided to make guest stays comfortable, were factors in your decision to book with me. While your star rating portion of the review is not a low star review, the comments are in stark contrast with all of the previous reviews - and in stark contrast with the sentiment you shared each time we spoke during your week-long stay. I pride myself on maintaining an impeccably clean space for travellers. I do this with my very hands on approach with cleaners and fully believe that behind every 5* review is a 5* cleaner. I believe that the 24 reviews available prior to this one (all 5*’s) are all only possible because the condo is so lovingly looked after. In addition to this, we have a maintenance schedule in place that includes fixing any broken items as quickly as possible and a robust pest control plan - both inside the condo and on the property - to ensure that anything from ants to rodents are not visiting the guests! I strive for clear and transparent communication and as you know, I check in to make sure that guests are not only content but that the condo exceeds their expectations. I am always met with a resounding “YES”. This was also true in my communications with you, until your review. Not surprisingly - but still somewhat disappointing - you chose to say these negative things in the review only after you received notification from VRBO that I was making a claim against your damage deposit (by the way, this is the first time in all of my years as a host that I have made a claim against a damage deposit!). I guess you assumed that if I was going to hold you financially accountable, I was likely going to be honest in my assessment of your stay via review, which is true - that is what I was going to do, not to be spiteful but just to make sure that any future hosts know ahead of time the state in which you left my beautiful condo. The “cricket” or “companion” that you allude to in your review made me laugh a bit, but once recovered I realized that this may actually have been your experience because of the rotting meat left in the crab trap on the kitchen patio and the garbage that did not appear to have been dealt with at all during your week stay. I’m sure that the critters would have loved this! As for the construction noise, our neighbours have been working non stop to complete the build of their new home for months now - you are the first guest to mention the noise. It would have been great information during your stay. The fact that you waited until your review tells me that it likely was not really an issue so much as something you could mention that was not positive. Liz, I hope that you and your daughter are able to find suitable accommodations for your mother/daughter trips in the future, but unfortunately they will not be in any of the condos that I own or manage. I only rent to guests who are respectful of all the hard work and dedication I put into providing clean and comfortable and well appointed spaces for guests.
