Comfortable Stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First, Port Aransas Escapes was very easy and friendly to work with. The house ended up not having a blender and they provided one quickly. The house is in a great location, easy access to beach. The only issues we had was the downstairs bunkroom. The A/C had issues and it was hot and humid. 3 upstairs rooms were fine. The house was stocked with everything one needs.

Beach stay

Short walk to beach, the sand was perfect, early morning beach walks were peaceful, got plenty of sun, pool could’ve been bigger, it was close to the house though.

Great location & floor plan, but some issues that made stay less than perfect.

We chose this location for the floor plan as we had a mixed gender group of teens with us. The bottom floor bunkhouse is completely separate from the main home. The location is perfect, beach views, walk to the beach, 10-20 minute drive to anywhere.Pros: Location & floor plan. Beds were comfy. 4 full bathrooms and an outdoor shower. AC worked good. 2 fridges. Great balcony. Enough silverware for max occupancy. Good assortment of pots, pans, & baking sheets. Cons: Bunk room description and images were not accurate, only 4 beds-3 twin and 1 double. Chairs in bunk room and 2 at kitchen table were very wobbly. Sheets in one of the bedroom did not get changed so we did it ourselves. Washing machine would not complete spin cycle even after much troubleshooting, so we hand wrung clothes out and dried them (for hours). There were not enough towels provided for our group, we hunted the house and found 2 additional, but with the washing machine not working it was rough. No extra linens at all. Dishwasher did not work consistently, it would run a full cycle and sometimes be dry, so we hand washed. Main freezer door did not seal good, so all of our frozen food thawed the first night. We ended up wedging it shut with one of the wobbly chairs. There was no toaster oven or keurig like in the pictures. None of the plates were microwave safe, only 2 cereal bowls. Glad I brought everything we needed to cook & eat. They sent me a number to call for guest relations but we just made do.

Beach Trip 2024

We have enjoyed the beach, beautiful walks on the beach. The community pool was a huge hit with our kids too. The property manager was very quick to respond to the AC issues during the first night that we had and it got fixed in a timely manner. We would have loved having the bottom floor be connected to the rest of the house. We did not realise that was not so we could not do much after kids went to bed because we did not want to leave them alone downstairs. The outside furniture could use some new cushions because they felt scratchy especially to a sunburned body. The kids enjoyed watching TV and the variety of channels it provided. We did see a few roaches and quite a few bugs on the bottom floor. It almost felt like the floors were not cleaned at all before our arrival. The shower downstairs also had other people’s hair left behind which was quite gross. But memories were made and we will not dwell on a few minor things!

Easy to locate. House is in a small colony. House needs a lot of TLC. Kitchen chair has a broken cross-bar; table needs a real good clean (dirt and crumbs in grooves); cabinets in kitchen need repairing painting, no light fixture in downstairs entry (maintenance came the day we were leaving; no light bulb in one bedroom (made a request and a work order was placed - but not while we were there); not suitable for children as lower level is only accessed by outside door - no access from main level (not apparent on website). Sliding door handles are either broken or non existent; Cooking equipment is old and well worn. Microwave rusty inside. No welcome book to advise on property or surrounding areas. Walk to beach was a bit further than I thought but it was manageable. I rate this property as a C+

Horrendous

I’ve been staying in Port A for the last 34 years. I cannot believe the condition this house was in. The bathrooms were not just outdated, but the tubs and showers were completely disgusting and filthy. The bunk room was completely separate and wasn’t accessible from the inside of the home. The refrigerators were rusted, and filthy upon arrival. I was so shocked to see how horrible the conditions were. There was no grill available as listed. There were ginormous cockroaches and spiders everywhere inside the home. The sheets were not changed before we arrived, and had stains and sand in the beds. The washer does not spin, leaving the clothes completely drenched. The dryer door would not close unless something was propped against the door to prevent it from popping open. I can’t say enough about how awful and incredibly frustrating and inaccurate and misleading these photos and the listing is. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! I stayed and tried to make the best of this trip. I don’t know what else to say. Sadly it was the worst beach experience I’ve ever had.

Great family beach vacation home

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We truly enjoyed out stay. The house was lovely and had plenty of room for us - 6 adults and four kids. The downstairs was great fro my daughter , son in law and their 3 children. The upstairs was nice for my son, daughter in law, their toddler, my husband and myself. Was also large enough for all of us to enjoy. We loved the deck. It’s a hike to the beach. We got a beach pass to load a vehicle with beach goodies. One of us would drive it, the rest of us walked. The outside shower was enjoyed by all.

Needs major updates

I would highly recommend Port A Escapes property management company. They we easy to work with. Check in went smoothly and the were attentive to maintenance concerns. This property gives them a black eye, however. Internet and cable we spotty at best. The furniture is flimsy with broken Dinning chair when we arrived. There was / is no flatware. There is however an abundance of pots and pan that would give a health inspector pause. There are loose stair treads up to the second level. The child safety gate does not latch. Cushions placed over outdoor seating with no seat base. The main issue however is a real potential for danger to the renter. The main circuit breaker tripped at midnight. The only property in the lost colony with out power. I called the emergency number and the management company sent someone out (1:00am). After a couple of attempts a switching breakers off to some of the major appliances he got the main breaker to stay on. No AC for the night. The management company made it we us, but I would steer clear of the property unless you are assured the electrical issues are corrected. Main Breakers don’t just trip! Major potential for a fire. Port A Escapes has a ton of properties. I’d choose one of them.

Nice Get Away

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental was very conveniently located and very spacious. Ac and the two little fans in the bottom unit did not cool down enough to be completely comfortable. Dishwasher had standing water and ice machine did not work properly. It would have been nice to have been warned about mosquitoes, that was probably the worst thing. Kids could not swim in the pool because of the mosquitoes.We enjoyed our stay and the time we had together.

There were a couple issues when we first got to the rental and within 30 mins a repair man was there and everything was taken care of. Close enough to the beach to walk and the pool was nice as well.

We were so pleased with this location. We were able to easily walk to the beach and it felt like a private beach. The house was clean and the kitchen had everything we could need. We will be booking this same location for next years vacation!

Great Family-Sized Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family had a great time visiting our favorite summer vacation spot, Port A. Pelican Place is in a great location and being a little way down Mustang Island and between the beach access roads, the boardwalk affords guests a much less crowded beach experience. We had plenty of space on the beach, which was easily accessed with a short walk from the house.The house was clean and the kitchen was extremely well-equipped for cooking. Having 3 showers (plus a shower outside) was great for rinsing off at the end of the beach day. And the patio has plenty of seating and tables to enjoy time outside.It would be nice if Lost Colony condos had more visitor parking. We were there with family that were staying elsewhere and it was hard to have everyone over to visit.

Vacation rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time. The house was close to the beach but really far from town. The house is a little worn and packed full of the owners stuff. We lived out of our suitcases and our totes with our food items. The porch was a little rickety and the doors were hard to close. We actually had to fix the screen door because it was off and remained opened all the time. The towel rod in the guest bathroom was pulled away from the wall and carpet stained. There was a roach in the lower bedroom and the air was set on 78 and would not go lower. I would recommend bringing your own pots and pans because the ones provided were in bad shape. The furniture was very comfortable and felt very welcoming.

The house was not state of the art by any means, but not roughing it either. Needs deep cleaning, new pots and pans, and the living room furniture is super uncomfortable. Mostly satisfied.

Great location and plenty of space for everyone

This home is a short walk to the beach and an easy drive to town. The bunk room is exterior access only, but perfect for older kids. The rooms upstairs are spacious and clean. The kitchen has every utensil you’ll need, including a coffee maker and keurig. Beautiful porch view and plenty of seating for all!

June trip

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was nice and had lots of extras for the kids. Check in was rushed and did not give us the wifi so couldn't have for the weekend. Roaches were a problem and an embarrassment to me as I picked Port A Escapes hoping they would take good care of their properties. We spent thousands and had no wifi and roaches.

Not bad

We had a great time.; however the downstairs bunk room was not cleaned or swept and felt very dirty. Dead roaches everywhere. The kids didn't want to sleep there. The deck tables were very dirty and bird poop was everywhere. It really didn't look like anyone had been there to spruce it up for us. And no wi-fi, which really sucked because I had work to do. Everything else was good. I would stay there again, uf they could address those issues.
