A great week in northern Wisconsin!

We love this property, from the spacious open great and dining rooms, to the well equipped kitchen, to the numerous comfortable beds, to the location on the chain of lakes, and its proximity to Eagle Waters Resort. We hope to keep coming back!

Affordable, Water Front North Woods Gathering Spot for Large Families

Finding a water-front rental home with a "swimmable" dock/beach for the kids in Northern WI that is relatively affordable is becoming more and more difficult. So while this property could use a refresh - it's location is ideal for a family gathering, the outdoor amenities are excellent, including a very "swimmable" lakefront and dock that my kids and dogs loved, and the price is still more reasonable than most other similarly situated lake-front properties. So, if your priorities are being outside around a nice fire pit, sitting on the dock watching beautiful sunsets, swimming on a sandy bottom lake... this is your spot. Note - be careful on the front porch. The light was out the first night we arrived and one of our guests missed a step and ended up breaking her ankle. I would recommend the owner install a porch railing as there's a small, but decent drop off the side of the porch with no railing if you misstep.

Very spacious for a large group.

We had a great time! The home has a nostalgic feel to it with a lot of common space for family gathering. We took advantage of the water, the fire pit and the opportunities for kids and adults to gather, play games and enjoy being together.

A wonderful week on Eagle Lake

Our family spent a great week on Eagle Lake at Roost Manor. It is the perfect place for a larger family to stay while enjoying the many opportunities for recreation on the Eagle River chain of lakes. It is within walking distance to the Eagle Waters Resort, and close to many fun family activities, great restaurants, great biking and hiking trails, and great golf. The property was impeccably cleaned and well outfitted for a family stay. We will definitely keep coming back!

Spacious House!

Overall, such a great experience! Such a cute town, spacious house for all! We had 18 people and we had a great time. I would definitely recommend getting boat if you're looking to go there for fishing. The dock didn't have much to offer for fishing. Also, the kayaks didn't have any paddles.The wifi was weak, probably just because of where it is. But definitely can't be a working vacation. It was nice to get away and disconnect. But, just as a heads up. Also, only 1 TV actually worked. Overall, these things didn't deter us from having a great time. We will definitely be coming back.

Been coming to Roost Manor for 17 years!

Excellent place for our family of 18 to spend a week together to boat, fish, swim, hike, eat and play. Spacious and comfortable common area allows room for various activities at the same time with enough bedrooms and outdoor space for time alone when wanted. Handy dock and access to Eagle Lake and the whole chain of lakes. Groceries and bait are conveniently available within easy driving distance. We take turns cooking meals for the gang, eating together, and usually catch enough fish to end the week with a family fish fry. Slow internet, but that's the case for most of the north woods - we use it as an excuse to detach from electronic devices and spend time enjoying each other's company. Already looking forward to next year here!

Roost Manor pluses and minuses

A great place to spread out with family though the kitchen is rather small. Love that there is an entry/laundry room with an extra refrigerator. Lots of disappointment that the pinball game was only for show. Outside areas needed some attention with wiggly railings on the stairs to the dock, and we did discover that the owner had forgotten to pay the DISH bill.

Roost Manor

Fantastic Josie for large groups on a beautiful property. We loved it. The house could use some updating in a little bit of maintenance. But it really was perfect for a large group. The lake is beautiful with a sandy bottom. It’s great for wading in the water, swimming, boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, and canoeing. We really enjoyed being on a chain of lakes and were able to visit some other lakes and restaurants via boat. Eagle River has a lot to offer for everyone. There was a storm at that took out our power and a tree fell on our car in the driveway. Vacasa was incredibly responsive. I was really impressed with how quickly they got someone to our house. Many homes up in Eagle River, thousands, were without power. We were without power for 24 hours. The weather was perfect so we were able to make the best of it! I would definitely rent this home again. The lake is perfect and the setting is beautiful.

Failure to Address Guest Concerns

On the day after check in I called a number provided to report a clogged bathroom sink, water leaking from under a soda machine, an oven vent fan that would not stay in place, a loose connect in the overhead wiring in the kitchen, a non-functioning pinball machine, and a canoe with only one paddle. I was told that someone would come to address the problems sooner if there were no emergencies, later if there were. No one ever showed up and we did not even receive a call back. Other than possibly the leaky under the soda machine, these items should have been corrected prior to our arrival since they are obvious problems. The failure to even make a no effort to correct the problem while we were there grades out as an F in how to deal with renters unless you have no intention of seeking their repeat business.

Nice property, excellent view but horrible Internet

The view of the lake, combined with long trees in the backyard, is breathtaking. Great getaway for families. The home was clean and felt peaceful. Our family loved it and all of us had a blast. However, the property is significantly old in terms and furniture, cabinets and bathrooms. It needs upgrades and TLC. Also, the Internet was unusable. It wouldn’t load even a single website, let alone allow regular use. Its good for people who want to unplug from the world but was not acceptable for my family who were looking to relax in the weekend while staying mildly connected. We would love to revisit if they fix these problems.

Plenty of room with an awesome view!

We had a great time at Roost Manor in June. The house is very big, with plenty of room for a group. Also nice that there are so many bathrooms. It seems that maybe it was a bed and breakfast at some point. Two of the bedrooms downstairs have bathrooms in them. The other downstairs room has a bathroom right next to it. Then the two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom. But, the real attraction is the view! We spent almost all our time outside. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and docked it at the pier. The kids loved swimming right off the pier. We tried to take the canoe out once, but there was only one paddle and the water was too choppy. All in all, we had an awesome time. I recommend this rental! Oh - and a note about Vacasa - I was getting a little worried because I didn’t get a confirmation email right away after booking. With COVID, they were swamped with last minute cancellations, I think. I went online and read a bunch of terrible reviews. But, one reviewer suggested to message Vacasa through Facebook for a quick response. I did and the customer service was excellent! We got our confirmation email right away and answers to questions that we had. If you’re having a hard time getting through on the phone and no one is answering your emails, try Facebook.
