Foinavon: su casa de vacaciones perfecta, en cualquier época del año, sin importar el clima. Tendrán un montón de espacio para ustedes
Has viajado al sur, directamente hacia el sol. Has cruzado el agua, has llegado a una hermosa isla de vacaciones, sin todas las molestias de ir al extranjero.
Véase usted mismo: acaba de abrir la puerta de su casa de vacaciones. Se estacionó en su propio espacio en el camino y caminó por el sencillo tramo de pasos hacia la paz y la privacidad, ahora está fuera de la vista de todos. Estás en tu propio pequeño mundo, tu refugio, una altura de planta completa debajo de la carretera en la que llegaste.
Querías una base privada, limpia, luminosa, bien diseñada y bien equipada para tus vacaciones, convenientemente ubicada para las playas o explorar la isla. Eso es lo que hemos intentado crear para ti aquí.
Desde el porche seguro, mire a su alrededor: a cada lado de usted se encuentran los dos dormitorios luminosos y aireados, cada habitación tiene el mismo tamaño, una con una cama King size y la otra, un par de individuales de tamaño completo de 3 ', complementado por todos los cajones y mesitas de noche, también armarios dobles, espejos más que adecuados y un tocador. Una selección de luces suaves y lámparas de lectura. Persianas verticales, así como cortinas gruesas para una buena noche de sueño. `
A través del pasillo, con espejos que rebotan alrededor de la luz del día, hacia la acogedora sala de estar, con la puerta del patio que revela esa vista. Orientada al este, para el sol de la mañana, no es un edificio a la vista, mirando a través de las tierras bajas de la reserva RSPB a Culver Down más allá. Pasa por la puerta del patio al balcón, solo se ven los vecinos laterales. Este es un lugar perfecto para el desayuno, tal vez?
De vuelta a la habitación, verá los dos cómodos sofás, orientados hacia la vista y el soporte de pared giratorio Smart TV de Sony. También es una buena radio DAB (con bluetooth para reproducir tu propia música) y una toma de pared USB para cargar el teléfono (WiFi ilimitado y rápido de nuestra conexión de fibra que funciona en todo el lugar).
En los estantes encontrará una buena variedad de folletos y volantes sobre las variadas atracciones de la isla, algunos mapas e incluso algunos libros de historia locales, si está interesado. También hemos escrito varias salidas guiadas para ayudarlo a encontrar los mejores lugares de la isla.
También en el pasillo está el baño blanco con azulejos, con la vista, pero es privado, ninguna de las ventanas se puede ver desde menos de 200 metros. La ducha tiene una gran cabeza de lluvia fija, así como un teléfono flexible, sobre un baño en forma de P, con pantalla de vidrio. También hay agua caliente inmediata en la red, en esta casa, por lo que no hay que esperar a que los grifos se calienten.
A continuación, se encuentra la cocina totalmente equipada, con nevera / congelador grande, un horno y una encimera adecuados para los que quieran cocinar, un lavavajillas Bosch para todos (y un microondas, naturalmente). Foinavon es todo tuyo. Nadie entrará, ni vendrán al jardín trasero. Todo es totalmente privado.

Foinavon fue construido en la década de 1960 como un bungalow separado, donde criamos a nuestra familia con comodidad. Más recientemente, se agregó un piso superior como una unidad de vivienda completamente separada, que es donde ahora vivimos. A great base with a beautiful view

A lovely place to explore the Isle of Wight from. Everything you need and more for a home away from home. The openers are very friendly and just upstairs if you need anything. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, we spotted loads of wildlife including herons and numerous butterflies on the week we were there. The dedicated parking space is great and there was bread, butter and milk in the kitchen on arrival!

We were made very welcome by Rob & Sue, everything was absolutely perfect. Such a lovely place, the views are spectacular, the hot tub is a great bonus, would be even better in long summer evenings. It’s definitely on our list to visit again in the future.

A wonderful 2 week stay

The property and the Hosts were excellent. The accomodation was spacious and very private ,everything we needed was provided. The view from the balcony and conservatory was lovely and the spa pool was an added bonus and excellent way to relax.There was a lot of useful information about the island on hand and the Hosts were happy to help if we had any questions. Would highly recommend booking Fionavon to anyone looking to visit IOW.

Excellent location for visiting most of the highlights of the Island. It was an amazingly well equipped apartment with almost anything you could possibly need. Was very impressed when the oven had a fault on the Sunday and it was replaced with a new one before we returned the following afternoon. Overall would thoroughly recommend..

Many Thanks for your kind review. It's a shame the oven door glass spontaneously shattered. It is one of those things that just happens occasionally. A first time for us. Hopefully the last. Easily available part, so now we have a spare oven! It's very important to us that our Guests have a good experience here.

A beautiful property

The property is well situated for easy access to all areas of the island and not too far from the ferries. The property itself is beautiful, a real home from home with everything you could need and probably more. The sitting room, balcony, kitchen and conservatory have wonderful views over the hills behind - and that is well worth the drive out to, where you can see views of the island and mainland. As an added extra there is a hot tub which we enjoyed on several occasions during our visit. We felt very relaxed in the property and had a lovely time.

Lovely place

Very clean. Really well equipped, even books and games, plus a minocular to bird watch! Stunning view. Comfy beds. Close to bus stops and short walk to station. Garden with lots of seating. Hot tub a bonus. Friendly helpful hosts. Quite a lot of stairs, so maybe not so good for older people or small children. Overall a great place for a holiday.

Thank you for those kind words. It's nice to know our efforts are appreciated. Yes, it's not ideal for the less able, but families with children do get on very well here. We try to make it clear in our listing that it's multi-level. The slope we're on is part of the charm here, and it opens up the views. We'd love to be all things for all people, but we do try.

Wonderful whimsical stay on the Isle of Wight

We were so impressed with the property, so clean and comfortable and a real little haven of tranquility. The garden and conservatory was like divine perfect for yoga and games, especially on wet days, captured what sun there was perfectly. Similarly the balcony was another suncatch with a breathtaking view. Rob and Sue were respectful and accomodating hosts, nothing was too much trouble, even offering to tumble dry our wet things before we departed. We loved every moment and will definitely return again at some point in the future. Suzy, Dave, Josh and Ayla

Obviously, we were very disappointed by your asessment of Foinavon. We put a lot of effort in to trying to please every one of our guests, but it is clear that you found some things not to your expectations. You have not, however, given any clue as to what they were. That would have been helpful to other guests, as well as ourselves. We must point out that all our photos are taken by ourselves, “un-posed” so as to give potential guests an accurate preview of what to expect of the property. You will also notice that various elements have been upgraded since the images were taken. Please, when making comments, be specific, so that failings or niggles can be identified and adjusted. “needs a refurb” doesn't really explain anything. We are continuing our progamme of maintenance and improvement works.

Not to be recommended

Beware the Landlady’s wrath if you fail to obey the house rules. Our “crime”? Allowing a visiting dog across the threshold. My husband had called into the property on his morning run to assist our son to pack up and leave at the end of their stay. Unfortunately, he was running with the dog. Within minutes of his arrival there was loud banging on the door. The Landlady was extremely angry that we had transgressed the “no pets” rule. Husband and dog left immediately with profuse apologies which were not accepted. The landlady’s vituperations continued with much haranguing of our son causing considerable upset as he tried to complete their packing. This spoiled an otherwise lovely week of family celebration. The property is situated between a busy main road and the railway line. There’s a parking space which requires precision reversing in from the main road while a queue of traffic builds up behind. The 2 bedrooms are somewhat affected by traffic noise, although from the back of the property there are splendid views of the river Yar and Gander and Bembridge Downs. There is a hot tub although this is better described as a “tepid” tub. A note on the wall says that the water temperature can be increased upon request. However, it is unclear what such a request might provoke given the Landlady’s short fuse. Self-catering holidays such as those offered by Vrbo are no longer a cheap option especially in high season on the Isle of Wight. There is much competition from other accommodation providers. Our experience at 1778496 means that in future we consider alternatives options. We recommend that others do the same.

We were surprised to see your scathing comments, finally published so long after your visit. When you look back over the communications before your visit, you will see that you volunteered the information that, although your family are dog enthusiasts, none would be brought here, as they are not permitted on the property. Naturally, when were aware of the dog being taken in, it was reasonable to remind the handler that it was previously agreed that no dogs would be in the property. I have never known Sue to behave in the way you describe – and wouldn't expect that. Did you witness this for yourself or is this some third-hand version? The simple courtesy of knocking at our door and introducing himself and the dog could have avoided any unpleasantness. We could have taken the dog for a walk. We offer Foinavon as 'dog-free' so we must keep to that standard. The cleaner found dog hairs from just the brief visit, thus requiring deeper cleaning. We do not want contamination to be shown up by a future guest with allergies, after booking what they reasonably expect to be a safe place. The Parking Space. It is simply parallel parking, exactly the same as roadside parking between two vehicles in town or anywhere else. The clear distance from our car (which is always parked tight up to the opposite end), to 'your' end of the space is 6.8metres. – leaving a full 2 metres clear for manoeuvring a large car. We do not recall what vehicle you drove, but, for your comparison, here are a couple of the largest common cars on UK roads, a surprising number of which, other guests have happily parked. Skoda Superb estate 4.8 metres long 1.8m wide. Ford Mondeo estate 4.9m x 1.9m. Drivers of large cars actually seem to be better at parking here! The Spa. As explained on arrival, we had reduced the water temperature from it's usual 'body heat' by three degrees centigrade, for safety and comfort during the exceedingly hot weather at the time. Bathing in overly warm water could rapidly cause illness. At body temperature, a small difference will not be immediately obvious. It was correct to turn down the heat for that reason. It was nothing to do with costs, if that was what you're suggesting. Quite obviously, we would not put up a sign offering to adjust the temperature if we were not prepared to do so. Since the weather settled back to it's usual heat, we've reset the thermostat to normal. The male of the group left site when we started our introductory walk-around during which we explained the situation with the spa, thus leaving partner to participate. We cannot understand why you chose not to tell us of your concerns during the stay. As we always want our guests to have the best possible experience here, we always respond immediately to any issues that we're made aware of. At no time during the rental did we have any communications from guests, so it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that everything was fine. From our own point of view, we would not live with something we considered 'not right' without trying to get the situation resolved, or at least reported. Why did you? As you had booked the property for a relative, rather than for your own occupation, did you actually visit it yourself to see what it is really like?

Very pleasant stay, all amenities catered for. Friendly hosts, would stay again.

From the onset we had a very friendly welcome from Sue and Rob. They showed us around the property showing us all the facilities in full, we settled in very quickly. This is a very private residence with enjoyable views to the east for the sunrise, with plenty of places to comfortably sit to enjoy the view. Sue and Rob were nearby should we have needed them , but did not interfere or bother us during our stay. Because we found everything we needed we didn’t need to contact them. When we came to leave they gave us a good send off. It is not boutique accommodation but is a very comfortable place to stay having all things you would have back at home. Beds were clean and comfortable with adequate storage space, and the large jacuzzi sunroom was an added bonus which we enjoyed. We would happily stay here again as it’s ideally located for the local attractions.

Great place to stay for a week on IoW

We stayed for a conference at Brading Roman Villa, and so the property was very conveniently located. Really well equipped (everything you need in the kitchen) clean and comfortable. Lovely conservatory with not tied and garden overlooking the hills.

a place for fun

Very well set up with anything needed for self catering. The jacuzzi is great fun and very romantic for a couple. Very very private. Location is not bad for touring the island. Parking is a pain and and I am not sure how it would work for a family with younger children .

Relaxing family break

'Foinavon' was a wonderful base for our week in the Isle of Wight with everything we could possibly need, plus accommodating and welcoming hosts in Rob & Sue. The spa and balcony, quite literally, made our daughter's break complete!

Fantastic property in a great location

My husband, our 19 year-old daughter and I stayed at this property for a week in July 2021. It was easy to get to from the port and we received a wonderful welcome from Rob and Sue, who showed us round the property. The property has absolutely everything you could need. We wanted for nothing. Rob and Sue had thought of everything. We went out everyday to explore the island, as there is so much to see and do, but when we were back at the house we relaxed, played games, went in the spa... The view from the conservatory is wonderful. I would recommend this property wholeheartedly.

We loved staying here. Everything was just about perfect from the hot tub to the views. Just sitting out on the balcony having breakfast was a great way to start our day. There is everything you need, it was a home from home. The parking is very tight and the property is situated on a busy main road with poor visibility so I'd advise someone to guide you in and out at peak times. Also we wanted to spend most of our nights in after full days of activities the TV channels are pretty basic so I'd recommend you take dvds you can sign into netflex too. Overall loved staying here the owners are on hand if you need them but are totally unobtrusive. Brading is central to Sandown and Ryde. There's a great bus service. Totally recommend here for a holiday.

We - Sue & Rob - both grew up on the Island and have always stayed living on our side of the water. We moved to Foinavon with our small daughters in 1991, drawn by it's situation and views. We've spent many happy years here, the girls attending the local schools before leaving for university. As teachers, one still lives and works on the Island, the other having moved to live and work on the mainland with her husband, whose work took them away. Every time she visits, it is important to her to take the scenic route, followed by a drive along the seafront, before arriving. That's what our Island does to you!
Rob has recently retired and partly looks after the property, Sue has now finished her work at the local hospital.
We chose to buy Foinavon (a bungalow at that time) as our home, some years ago primarily for it's location, it's outlook and ease of transport and travel. More recently we had the opportunity to invest in building a new home for ourselves; but, not wishing to lose our glorious views, we chose to build ourselves an independent apartment above Foinavon, which is where we now live.
Our guests now benefit from the spa, the large conservatory, stylish kitchen etc that we created originally for ourselves. We can't, of course, take the credit for that view!
Where else could you find these facilities, convenience, open outlook and, yet, privacy?
We really can't see ourselves moving from here; we'll continue to share our outlook with you, our guests.

We've tried to make Foinavon to be the place we'd love to visit ourselves.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Even after dark, Foinavon's views go on giving! Facing due east, with no development between us and the sea, we get some fantastic dark skies. You can watch the moon and stars rise over Culver Downs (and the Sunrise, if you want to be up that early).
There are so many countryside walks that you can start from Foinavon that it'd take you a week just to do the easiest ones. (and still have enough for your second week).
Do you want to walk to the sea? Barely over a mile. The full length of the Island to the Needles? About 25 miles, footpaths most of the way (there's a sponsored walk each spring).
A wide range of walks for everyone, all starting on your doorstep, level or energetic. In fact, if you're keen, you could be 400 feet up within a mile of your front door!
For drives out, you have quick and easy access to the whole of our beautiful Island,with few traffic hassles.
We've left you a range of maps and guides to give you some ideas.

We've also written some specially designed driving routes, starting from Foinavon, to help you see the best sights, avoiding the traffic and getting to know the Island better.
Do turn off that satnav over here, though - it will rarely take you the best way!
