Serene Sunset Suite on Historic Discovery Bay

In 2016 we finished building the "Big House" overlooking the cabin and fulfilling a 40 year dream of hosting family and friends...old and new alike. We have a lovely daylight level suite fully furnished with all new appliances, custom alder cabinets, maple paneling and an originally designed kitchen island.... all built with love and the view in mind. But the best part IS the view. It features a private deck and shared Beach access with our family and others.

Gorgeous view, peaceful setting.It was a great base for exploring the region, and the hosts are very nice. We wished we could have stayed longer! In the afternoon we had a lovely walk along the beach (relatively low tide). In the mornings and late afternoons we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds flitting about; we wish they would share rather than chasing each other away from the feeders.

We loved our stay on Discovery Bay! The apartment had everything we needed - so well stocked with many thoughtful extras. The sunsets were gorgeous and both the peacefulness was divine. Thank you!

The beach get away!

Great little get away! Super clean property, everything you might need, even a beach blanket. It’s a bit far down the stairs to the beach but worth every step and there are landings to rest. I’d reserve again!

Great place to disconnect and see nature!

We took a couple of nights here. Darrell is very welcoming and helpful with getting settled in. The place was great, clean and had the best views of the water and also there was beach access. Parking was no issue and close to Port Townsend and Port Angeles. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Darrell is an amazing host. He is very knowledgeable and proud of the history his property and the surrounding area. The house was nice and the sunset is amazing. It was stocked with everything we needed and Darrell checked in with us throughout the trip to make sure everything was good. He was even nice enough to share some fresh caught crab with us.

So beautiful! Our stay was absolutely relaxing and accommodating. Sunset suite had everything we needed, clean, spacious, quiet and great views. Hosts are very attentive and accommodating. In the evening we were blessed to listen to him play a few pieces from is grand piano. It was truly amazing. Highly recommended!

The Sunset suite, downstairs from the owner’s home, offers total privacy and one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve experienced. A stairway leads down the hill to a private beach.The beautiful new kitchen in the suite has a dishwasher and every appliance and kind of dinnerware you could ever need. The suite was very clean, washer and dryer worked well and hosts were delightful. We hope to stay there again!

Warm and welcoming

From the friendly greeting, AMAZING views, and very comfortable accommodations our stay was everything we had hoped for from start to finish. The location is perfect for exploring the Quimper Peninsula and beyond.

Beautiful Setting

This was a beautiful setting with very friendly hosts Who obviously delighted and sharing their peace of heaven with others. They had everything we needed, and then some. The sunset views from the beach were amazing.

What a magical spot

This was a real treat - so many thoughtful details - charging cord by bed, blankets to use outside etc…. Host was so friendly and helpful - we will be back!

Lovely

Sunset was a cozy place to stay. We enjoyed having a large hangout area and a very comfortable bed. The owner was incredibly thoughtful and friendly. Top notch place to stay for sure. Highly recommended.

A slice of heaven!

A wonderful home with great hosts. The views and sunsets have to be seen to be believed. A great beach with lots of fun things to see like sand dollars and seals! We will definitely be back.

Peaceful and welcoming

A beautifully maintained property inside and out. Darrell has thought of everything a guest might need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay and has it ready! It is ideally located just outside Port Townsend so all local local attractions are close. We highly recommend Sunset Hideaway and hope to be back.

Great little place just not as great as the pictures

Pictures are deceiving and do not indicate that 75% of the view is obstructed by another cabin. Pictures also make it appear to be way closer to the beach. In order to get to the beach your required to go down 65 (yes 65) stairs. My husband recently had a knee replacement and 20 to 30 would have been an achievable challenge but 65 is a feat for anyone.

A weekend of wonderful sunsets

My wife and I stayed 4 nights for our 15th wedding anniversary. Darrel greeted us at the property on arrival and gave us the key and a tour of the property. We had a wonderful time, the weather was fantastic and we couldn't have been happier with the property. The heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch. We'll definitely want to stay here again in the future. It is a wonderful location for couples.

A true slice of heaven

As a couple who have spent the last 3 years traveling and relying on the space and kindness of others to help make our experience, i can safely say this is one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed. The space, the porch, the SUNSET, the smell of pines, the wildflowers - it’s a dream come true. Stop looking - stay here!

Peaceful retreat

I cannot express how wonderful this experience was. Pictures do not do it justice. The interior was spotless and the kitchen was fantastic. There was everything you wanted and more. The host was perfect.
