A month before her arrival, Mary announced by email she would arrive early at 11 am, knowing check-in is at 4 pm. She wanted to go to the beach, return and shower before dinner. Since guests check-out at 11 am, I did not agree to an early arrival, advising we often have 3 laundries, and need time to clean, preparing for new guests each week. I said I would notify her if we finished early. I did allow her and her son to park at 11 am and go to the beach and offered her the beach cart and chairs. Her son took a chair. She returned from the beach at 3 pm while the cottage was being cleaned. She complained and sat directly next to the front door in a chair, while her husband stood in front of his car, trunk open, arms crossed, glowering at the front door. They were allowed entry at 3:40 pm. Mary immediately complained there was no sleeper couch and was advised we had just gotten a new leather couch to complete the other leather furniture in the living room. She was reminded that there are two queen inflatable mattresses, with pump, one in each bedroom closet, as stated in the listing on VRBO. The vast majority of our reviews comment on the cleanliness of the cottage and what a delightful setting it is, so close to the beach. "Poor condition?" The photos speak for themselves, except for new 5 piece leather set in living room. No dead tree, but nice yard! Mary - the rudest guest my family has ever hosted in more that thirty years welcoming summer guests to our seaside cottage.
