Petit Gite with swimming pool and stunning views in the heart of the hills

Commune with nature and feast your eyes. This renovated farmhouse is located in a small hilltop hamlet, with a swimming pool and breathtaking panoramic views of the hills and groves of the Clunisois region.

Located on a 2-hectare property next to the owner's house (not overlooked) and the Grand Gîte Des Marions (our gîte for 10 people), the Petit Gîte Des Marions has its own south-facing terrace furnished with a table and chairs, a parasol, and a barbecue. A natural swimming pool, open year-round, is available to guests of the Petit Gîte and the Grand Gîte.

The gîte comprises a large double bedroom upstairs and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. On the ground floor, there is a bedroom with two single beds and a sofa bed, as well as a large living room opening onto the kitchen/dining room.

A 20-minute drive from unique historical sites (Cluny, Paray le Monial, Cormatin, etc.) and 30 minutes from the Mâconnais vineyards, the gîte is an ideal refuge for discovering the delights of Southern Burgundy.

Linen and towels included in the price.

During July and August the Petit Gite can only be reserved together with the Grand Gite

Quiet nice house with stunning view

My wife and I prefer quietness in the countryside - and that is what we found. The cottage is well equipped and from the terrace you can see for miles. If your French is not that good it is convenient to have an English speaking landlady. Although she lives next door she is very discrete. We are a couple aged around 60 and just outside the gate we found a varied landscape ideal for biking on calm roads or walking on marked tracks. There are several viewpoints in the area and cultural sites, e. g. in Cluny, Macon and Autun. We can highly recommend the place.

A wonderful recreative and inspiring stay

The holyday cottage is wonderful for friends of old houses in combitation with modern convenience in a harmonic landscape. The house is ample, aesthetic furnished and also a pleasent and clean stay at cold and rainy weather. The heating is good, the kitchen good appointed, sitting on the patio and looking into the landscape is the greatest. Everything is as discribed, sometimes even better. Unfortunately we could not swim in the pond. Our charming landlady Victoria gave us any information we needed, hints for good restaurants and maps for hiking. We found guides and brochures in the cottage for our planing. We thank Victoria that we could take part of her little paradiase. May be we will come again.

Cosy little cottage in the french countryside

The cottge is loacates in the middle of french countyside sorrounded by horses and cows grazing. We loved the view over the hills and had gorgeous sunsets in pink and orange( august). The cottage is well maintained and has a huge equipped kitchen with a gas stove!**** Deck chairs, table+chairs and sunshade, 2xBBQs what do you need more? There is a good road-connection to the city Cluny, where you can go food shoppping, buy a baguette or a newspaper and visit the old abbey and museum. The landlady lives nearby and is there for you if you need help or anything else. She has two adorable white labradors! We enjoyed our stay very much with everyday BBQ, relaxing, sunbathing and the quitness off of the big city life!

Tranquillity and sunshine in rural Burgundy.

The cottage is fabulously equipped with everything one would need for a superbly tranquil and restful holiday. Victoria had really taken on board the needs of her guests and even provided us with two wonderfully attentive dogs who appeared punctually at meal times on our terrace! We of course succumbed to their French friendliness and shared the odd meal with them but not the wonderful Cremant de Bourgoine that we found in the local supermarche. We had a super stay in this lovely property which was perfect for a couple who love tranquility and easy access to the many interesting Abbeyes and chateaux in the region. The Abbeys at Cluny and Para Le Monial, the castle at Brancion and the Rock of Solutre are absolute places one must visit. There are great Burgundy reds to have in abundance and Charolais beef for barbecues to purchase in all supermarkets. Naturally we felt that we had a duty to support these local producers! We visited the Saturday market in Beaune which was about an hours drive away and bought the most amazing Goats cheese, artisan bread and charcuterie produce before visiting the Hotel de Deu or hospital with its amazing roof and history. For the visitor who wants both a restful setting and easy access to historical sites Les Marions is perfect!

Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche zu zweit im Cottage verbracht. Die Lage ist ein Traum, wenn man Ruhe und Natur sucht. Das Cottage ist gemütlich und stilvoll eingerichtet; es bietet alles (und mehr) für zwei Personen. Victoria ist eine sehr sympathische und aufmerksame Gastgeberin. nous nous sommes tout de suite sentis chez nous tant le lieu est accueillant et que Victoria a tout mis en oeuvre pour faire de cette maison un lieu chaleureux où aucun détail n'a été oublié. Décoration agréable, non ostentatoire, matériaux naturels, cuisine très pratique avec vue magnifique sur la vallée.....Chambre spacieuse aux tons doux. Le paysage environnant est tout simplement magique. Pour les amoureux des prés verdoyants, des fleurs champêtres, des grenouilles et des oiseaux ......

Ruhe und Erholung im Burgund

Wir haben über Neujahr eine Woche im Cottage verbracht. Das Cottage ist sehr gut ausgestattet und mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Sie wohnen in einem ehemaligen Nebengebäude (Stallungen und Backhaus) das seinen rustikalen Charme nach der Renovierung beibehalten hat. Die Lage des Hauses ist ruhig und landschaftlich sehr schön. Victoria ist eine sehr aufmerksame, hilfsbereite und nette Vermieterin, die sie allerdings kaum bemerken werden obwohl sie im Haus nebenan wohnt. Wenn sie Ruhe suchen und die kleinen Ortschaften des Burgund erkunden wollen sind sie dort genau richtig. Supermärkte und Restaurants erreichen sie in 10-15 Minuten.

Good times/Bad times

This is a difficult review to write. In many ways we loved this place. Victoria was a very helpful host and the apartment itself was well-furnished and comfortable. The location was attractive and quiet. The downside? To say that the internet connection was slow and undependable would on a small scale be like saying the Titanic had a leakage problem. If you want a vacation to escape connectivity, this is your place. However, if you like to keep track of news, communicate with friends, research restaurants and sites, go elsewhere. If we had been aware of the problem, our disappointment would have been less, but the first warning was in the info manual in the the place itself. So, great place IF what you want is to be away from it all.

Dear Wayne, Thank you for the positive part of your review. However I have to take issue with your comments on the wifi connectivity. I have just gone over to the Cottage and there does seem to be a problem .The speed of your connectivity isn't normal and I will be calling France Telecom immediately to come and fix it. I have no idea why you didn't mention the problem to me . If you had, I could have dealt with it in a timely manner . Instead you said nothing until now , leaving me with a nasty and rather unfair review. Kind regards, Victoria

Magnifique

Cet endroit est magnifique. La maison est refaite avec beaucoup de goût. Tout est beau et confortable. L'accueil est chaleureux. Le calme est une invitation au repos, la vue une invitation à la contemplation. Notre séjour fut vraiment ressourçant.

L'accueil chaleureux de la propriétaire ainsi que de ses deux adorables chiens nous ont permis de passer de très agréables moments. Le gîte est très bien équipé et décoré avec beaucoup de goût, on s'y sent bien ! Nous avons passé de belles vacances reposantes. Well equipped and tranquil gite.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our initial impression was that the gite was very remote, but actually, it was only a few minutes to the nearest town, and the situation of the gite meant that it was completely tranquil. Victoria has provided everything you need, including toilet paper and washing up liquid! The bed was very comfortable, and there was English TV for the evenings. We actually ate at the house frequently during our week as it was so pleasant. Fantastic walks from the door, and easy accessibility by car to Macon, Beaune and our favourite, Cluny. We had some excellent degustations and bought some what we hope will be good wines to be savoured over the year. We would happily return for more exploration of the area. The weather was also superb - wall to wall sunshine!

Lovely peaceful place to visit in the countryside

Victoria was a lovely host and we both fell in love with her 2 dogs Monte and Plume. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. It is in a lovely part of the countryside and there are nice places to visit within easy travelling distance by car. We had a relaxing holiday in France and hope to return.
