This is a wonderful little house - two comfortable bedrooms with nice, updated bathrooms - with an even better host. Melissa was terrific - the perfect balance of available whenever we needed her and otherwise scarce for our privacy. It is a great spot with a vigorous 1000 foot one-mile hike leaving 50 feet from the front door. A beautiful beach is just a 10 minute walk away. It is a somewhat remote, but if that is what you are looking for, you will love it.

Malibu Weekend

This property is an absolute hidden gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway. Beautiful and private, yet still very convenient to everything and everywhere we wanted to go in Malibu. Melissa is very responsive and considerate allowing us to check in early as our flight arrived very early. We loved our time here and we will be back!

Serene and perfectly located Malibu home.

The home had everything we needed for our stay. It was clean and well equipped. The location was walking distance to the beach and hiking trails. The setting was serene and peaceful. Melissa was easily reachable and took care any questions or needs we had.. We would definitely stay here again.

Coastal Getaway while still in LA!

The host: Melissa, totally friendly and professional, met us when we arrived to provide helpful info and answer any questions. The home: What a great atmosphere - the hardwood floors, muted pastels, the trunk of a sycamore tree weaving its way around the patio and being surrounded by nature made for such a peaceful vibe. The bed was totally comfortable. Everything was neat and clean. The location: Yes, it is possible to "get away" even in L.A. This location was perfect. Beach across the street, surrounded by nature, uncongested, yet easily accessible to the city. Summary: So glad to have stayed here. We’d absolutely stay again! Thank you!!

Perfect place to stay in Malibu

The property is exactly as described and in excellent condition. Melissa is the perfect host and the location is just ideal to reach the beaches nearby or to hike in the mountains - private trail head behind the house. The place is a great choice in normal times but just unbeatable in spending a safe vacation in the middle of a pandemic as there could not be more privacy behind the gates of the large terrain on which the house sits. We spend a full month there and would definitively come back.

A great peaceful property in Malibu

This is a great house on a peaceful and private property. It was perfect for two adult couples. Everything about the property was as advertised, and Malissa was an excellent host, available but not intrusive at all. We enjoyed the hikes from the house as well as the easy walk to the beach.

Wonderful location + great home = the setting for an amazing vacation :)

This place was AMAZING, and we loved our time here! My fiancé and I were looking for a place where we could stay for about a month (so we could get a monthly discount), and when we found this place we knew it was perfect. We decided to work two weeks remotely, and then took two weeks of vacation. Everything about this place was fantastic - for the working remote part, the wi-fi was strong, there were plenty of indoor and outdoor seating areas to take calls, and you can't beat the view from your "office". We stayed on central time so we saw the sunrise over the mountains every morning, and then got to walk down to the beach for the sunsets. So great! For the vacation half, there was so much to do that was outside in the nearby areas, and with the beach across the street and the mountains in your backyard, you can't go wrong. This place is seriously a gem, and Melissa and her dad were fantastic hosts. While there is so much that I could say about our stay that we loved, here were a few highlights for us: - Melissa and her dad were very responsive. If we had a question, they answered it. When we locked ourselves out of the house once (whoops!) they come let us in. They certainly gave us our privacy, but were very helpful when we needed it. - The location is fantastic. It's right across the street from the beach, and there is a hiking trail that heads up the mountain just off of the patio area. There are also plenty of hikes that you can do that are walking distance from the house or a very short drive away. - The house is stocked with lots of little thoughtful details, so you feel like you have all of the amenities of home. Some things that we found especially helpful were beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels, a tablecloth for an outdoor picnic, a blow dryer, a washer/dryer (and even a laundry basket!), a well-stocked kitchen with plenty of the equipment to cook/bake/etc, an outdoor grill, and very comfy beds. - It's a perfect space for COVID. The space was very clean, plenty of extra cleaning supplies were provided, and you could probably go days without seeing anyone if you want :) - It's a non-profit nature preserve, so it's helping to keep the coastline/mountain area undeveloped. Yay! We hope to come back some day and enjoy this space again. Cheers and thank you!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

This is an iconic "old Malibu" resort property that dates back to the 1970's. The property has been under stewardship of a non-profit land trust for the past 20 years. We have helped protect and preserve over 700+ acres in Western Malibu, including "God's little pocket" in Nicholas Canyon. The property was devastated by the Woolsey Fire in November 2018 and recovery and rebuilding efforts are ongoing. The retreat house is the only dwelling unit that survived. Thanks to generous grant funding, we were able to make repairs to the guest house and are eager to welcome guests back to the property.
