This was a wonderful house to have our family vacation. The check in process was easy. The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this again.

You can’t beat this house for location. Literally footsteps from the beach. I still would never rent here again. 200 extra to rent poor quality sheets for four days, plus making up our beds and our kids’ beds upon arrival at 8pm stunk. After having to stop at the rental office to pick up keys because they do actual keys and not codes. Most of the rental towels were dingy and stinky—would be in my rag towel stash at home. Worst of all though, the house was unclean. But the kind of unclean that snuck up on us and by the time we realized, it didn’t seem worth interrupting our vacation to complain and have cleaners sent out. Our feet were brown from the dirty floors. A pair of dirty men’s socks were in the coffee table drawer. Our kids found food wrappers wedged between the sofa and the wall. Additionally, the clothes washer was covered with mildew on the inside, and the dishwasher stopped cleaning dishes 2 days into our trip. We very much just felt unclean and grossed out the whole trip. Thankfully it only rained part of one day, so the majority of our time was spent on the beach. The house could be a perfect vacation spot, but unfortunately it’s just very poorly kept and if I had known that the linens and towels were going to be such poor quality and condition, I definitely would’ve saved my money and gone to the hassle of packing my own.

Furniture

Overall the home was great. The view and beach accessibility was awesome. There was were plenty of dishes, flatware and cooking supplies. BUT, THOSE SOFAS!!!!!!! They sank down horribly when sat upon. Everyone complained about them.

Good location and oceanfront

The North Topsail location of this duplex was nice, and being oceanfront is great! The check in process was old school and clunky. It would have been much better if there was electronic lock access like most short term rentals instead of having to go the office to collect keys and paperwork. The place was also not cleaned well before our stay. Overall, the place worked for us despite Tropical Storm Debby being there with us all week!

Perfect Family Vacation!

The house was everything we hoped for and then some. The views and sounds of the ocean were amazing from the house. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we slept amazing. The location was perfect for taking quick trips to Surf City. There are a few local restaurants nearby that made dining out easy. Even though we saw complaints about the checkin process, we found it to be very easy. We arrived later than we expected and we had no issues with picking up our keys. They even contacted us before we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend for a perfect vacation getaway.

Great Location, But could be Cleaner

My family and I loved the beach house we booked! It was the perfect beachfront for my nephew. However, the floors in the house were quite sandy upon arrival. We also discovered a few dirty cooking pans from a previous renter. The dryer made a very high pitched noise when running, which was quite painful. Owners should definitely take a look at that. But overall, we had a wonderful time, and the positives outweighed the negatives!

Bottoms up visit

To be honest we felt the photos of the property were somewhat deceiving compared to the actual house. The inside lighting was inadequate at night. We had to run the clothes dryer through several cycles. Never could get two of the TVs to work. Also, we were a little concerned about the plumbing system as when you flushed you could hear water gurgling in other areas. However, the location and beach access were great.

Recommendations

The property is in a great location and has potential to be a wonderful vacation spot. The problem is it appears no one is taking care of the property and only the bear minimum is being done. We as a family found numerous cleaning and maintenance issue but two simple examples are: -The bedding on all of the beds had multiple very visible stains (one of the comforters appears to have multiple "sex" stains) which shows that no inspection of the bedding was performed -There were multiple rooms that required a replacement light bulb. One room means the light went out but we counted as least 4 rooms so clearly this property is not getting a quality inspection between customers. I can go on but I will not gross you out. We cleaned for the first couple of hours we got there and went to Roses and bought blankets and pillow covers and made the best of the rest of our vacation.

Lovely vacation, less than stellar property.

While our time in North Topsail was lovely, the property was not exactly as described--"newly remodeled, very clean and well-maintained" is quite a stretch. We appreciated direct beach access and the ability to rinse off the sand, but the check in process (having to drive to Surf City to obtain house keys) was old-school and clunky. All of the indoor and outdoor furnishings, appliances, floors, hardware, etc. show significant wear from years of use and weathering. The unit lacked real cleanliness--so much sand everywhere when we arrived, baseboards and vents and counters visibly dirty, not-clean dishes in cupboards--and maintenance is poor--light fixtures with blown bulbs, a faucet not attached to a shower unit, bedroom televisions not functioning, sliding door off the track in a bedroom, etc. We were grateful for a plethora of sand toys for our grandkids, but sad to be missing the porch swing shown in pictures. We cleaned as we unpacked (and made beds--you will need to rent your linens, so if that's a deal breaker, definitely move on), but were disappointed to be doing that as we arrived for our week-long vacation after driving 12 hours. When you're spending a couple thousand dollars on lodging, you expect hotel-like accommodations. This home, while excellently located, is not hotel-like.

Thank you for the feedback. This home was newly renovated but it has been about two years. We will adjust our description. The couch is new, within the year. I will let the cleaners know about the cleaning issues. I looked back and none of these issues were reported or we would have taken care of them immediately. We could have sent the cleaners back out and maintenance. We were never given the opportunity to correct those items.

Location, location

Great location for our family of 6. Property had everything we needed except a crib or pack n play, even a high chair. The home is beautifully decorated. It was clean but not overly clean as I found trash and sand under the bed. The sand is pretty much expected though. Communication was not the best before the trip as we could not get an answer about a grill, sand toys, or crib at the premesis. Check in and out was pretty easy but a key code instead of separate location to pick up keys would have been easier. Outside hose had a leak and could have been longer. Check out directions were posted in the house but some things differed from the directions in the packet from rental company. Overall it was nice here and no regrets. Great place to stay as nowhere would be perfect. The beach is awesome here!

Great house. Terrible rental company

This house was great. Open, airy, beds were good. Downstairs bedroom must be soundproofed as baby slept there and couldn’t hear any of noise from nearby living room. Need to invest in some new couches. They’re kind of breaking down. Stairs to upstairs bedroom are really steep. Seaside reality was a nightmare to check in and out. Sent numerous emails with the same info every time none of which specified which location to check in or mentioned checking in at lockbox or getting a text with the code to the box. You also have to use same code to put keys in Lockbox on checkout but they failed to mention that either.

A little misleading and outdated

The vrbo pictures/description ead me to believe that he master bedroom had a master bath, which it did not. Also the pictures made the kitchen to be much lather than what it was. We were traveling for a family wedding so luckily we weren't confined to the house

Charming

This is a charming home on the water. We loved the location. There was quite a bit of dust on the fans and some lights were out, but the property manager was quick to respond and stated they would fix those items quickly. The check in process is ok but a little off in that you have to go to a location first to pick up everything to get into the house. And upon checkout you have to drop off the packet of keys and info again. Overall would stay again though. Thanks!

Can’t wait to come back!!

We had an amazing stay!! The deck overlooking the beach was perfect!! Very short walk off the deck, surrounded by other homes so not hotels/condos along the beach. The house had everything we needed and restaurants and stores were close by.

Family getaway to celebrate special occasions

The property was very well maintained and attention to small details such as labeling light switches, remotes, etc. along with instructions for all of the TVs were not overlooked by the property owners. Very impressed!
