A magnificent 16th-century castle, the Château de Fan is located in the town of Lussan, in the Gard department.
Nestled in the heart of the garrigue between Uzès and the Cévennes, perched on a rocky outcrop, lies one of the most beautiful villages in France: Lussan.
Lussan is a charming medieval village perched on a rocky outcrop. Throughout history, it has served as a strategic communications hub.

Built in 1550 by Gaspart d’Audibert, Lord of Lussan, son of Pierre d’Audibert and Claudine de Laudun.
The castle owes its name to its proximity to the “Le Fan” stream.
Neglected in the 18th century, the castle was sold to Théophile Gide, a resident of Lussan and great-grandfather of the writer André Gide. Needing money, the Gide family sold it to the municipality in 1920. The building became a gendarmerie around 1960 before being relocated to Audabiac in 1980. The municipality provides security, but the buildings are poorly maintained.
