Fall break

The house is nice but needs some updates. When we walked in there were 2 roaches which we continued to see them throughout our stay. Not sure if the last guest were the issue but the home smells like someone has been smoking in it. The ceiling fans sound awful. But this house is in a great location and worked out for us and the weather and beach were incredible

Nice House

Date of Stay: July 2022 Guests: 4 adults, 5 kids (2, 4, 6, 6, and 8) Length of Stay: 5 nights Pros Very clean 4 full bathrooms Nice and new Plenty of beds Cons Missing smoke detector on 1st floor Smelled of cigarette smoke Zero blankets other than bedspreads on beds No pantry/lack of space to store food Very very little storage in the house itself Lacked basic amenities for families that would expect being a family rental Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated how clean the property was. However, with 5 little kids this house was very tight. Plenty of beds, but no storage, no real room to breathe and move around. Also, the beach, while across the street, is not accessible unless you walk a good 10-15 minutes with little kids. If we had older kids, it would have been a great location but with littles, it was a lot to take them and all the beach gear that far. Pictures make it seem closer of a walk than it is. Probably would not stay here again due to the lack of blankets, certain cozy amenities, and lack of overall space for our family.

Great vacation house

We came in early October and loved our stay. West Side Cottages was quiet and peaceful with a clean pool, convenient parking, and short walk to lagoon pier. The walk to the beach access points isn’t too far but we had several kids with us and had lots of toys, towels, chairs etc so hauling everything on the walk was harder than driving to a nearby public access parking area by the beach. We tried several different beaches close by and enjoyed them all: Lagoon Pass, The Hangout, Gulf Shores State Park Pier, and Orange Beach. The house was very clean and perfect for our group size (3 adults and 4 kids). We loved having four bathrooms so there was no waiting in line for showers. There are also beach toys available for the kids on site which was nice. There were a couple very minor repairs needed but nothing that interfered with our stay and they are very very quickly resolved by replying to the welcome text from the staff

Cozy family townhome

We loved the pool area. It was a short walk to the beautiful beach. We loved how clean and relaxing the house was. A bit difficult to reach Someone with check in questions. No response through the app. Calling is only way to reach. Would love to stay again!

Great location, very nice place for family or large group

Overall the condo was very good. Plenty of space for a large group or extended family stay. Cleanliness was very good. Nice appliances and generally had very good upkeep. We loved the fact that condo had 4 showers, which worked great for coming back from the pool or beach. Our only real issue was the check-in process. We received a code to get into the house. No instructions were given for the location of a lockbox. I called Vacasa and was referred to the local Vacasa office. During this wait, I verified the check in instructions both from email and text and no lockbox location was given. I then searched the exterior of the house and found the lockbox under the stairs. When the local Vacasa agent called, she was very rude and told me I had been sent lockbox instructions. I had only been sent a code. This was reported in a previous review that I then saw on the VRBO site. The check in instructions need to be repaired!

Over all stay

Over all nice experience. Beautiful place. Wish the a/c would’ve been turn on before we got there at 4pm in the heat of the day. It was over 90 in the house.

Overall good, but some issues

This was our second time stay at the Westside Cottages in Gulf Shores. The accommodations were nice. Plenty of space for our group. We arrived late on Friday night and struggled to find the lockbox to get the keys. When we finally found the lockboxes, the guest lockbox was already open and no keys to be found. After 20 minutes on the phone with Vacasa customer service, we were able to get the code for the staff lockbox and had discovered that the front door was left unlocked by the previous renter or the cleaning company. The other issue we had were the floors. I am not sure that they mop or clean them very often. You could not walk around the cottage with bare feet with the bottom of your feet getting black from all the dirt. We had to wear shoes or socks the entire time while in the cottage. Thankfully they do have a good washer and dryer so we could do a load of laundry for all our socks. We would stay at the Westside Cottages again, but it is disappointing that you pay a cleaning fee and discover that much dirt on your feet from just walking barefoot on the floors.

Beach soccer

We couldn't pass up the chance to enjoy the Gulf! My son's team had games in Mobile and Daphne so we capitalized and this home didn't disappoint. Plenty of space for 6, teenage boys but still a welcoming family atmosphere! The house had everything we needed and perfect location. We'll be back!

Great cottage!

Can't say enough great things about this cottage! Spacious, clean, 4 full bathrooms for sandy kiddos to wash up. Completely met all of our needs! 5 minute walk to the beach or right down the steps to the pool. Place is practically brand new. Management usually replied back to emails within 15 minutes. Excellent!!!

June 2021 Girl’s Trip

Unit JJ was gorgeous and the property managers were wonderful! We needed linens for the pull out couch and they had someone bring them to us within 30 minutes. They were so kind about it! The access to the beach was really great! There is a little wooden bridge that goes between two of the homes across the street and it leads to a completely paved path to the beach access. Be sure to bring your own beach chairs and umbrellas! We will definitely stay here again!

I expected more

The house was very clean when we arrived. This is a house that 9-10 people can sleep at and there wasn't enough towels. There also wasn't any extra linens and no laundry soap to clean the sets we had. 3 sets of stairs to get to bedrooms. Not as close to the beach as ad makes it seem. Freezer drawer is not very functional. Slow drain in one of the tubs. They only give you 1 key for the house. Not any direct views of the beach, in fact, this one faces the lagoon side. Only cloth furniture so it's hard to sit while waiting for a shower to open up after playing at the beach. This house is in a community and you are very close to lots of neighbors. This unit is right next to the pool and it has an outdoor shower by the parking area. No places to hang wet clothes. Very close to Gulf Shores strip with lots of restaurants and things to do.

Beautiful, new condo but a few surprises

This condo is brand new inside, very nice and spacious. The pool is close to the condo which was a great feature because there were riptides at the beach the entire week we were there! One thing to keep in mind with this property is that while it is located on the bay, the balcony of this property has a very limited view of the bay because you have to look between the 2 buildings directly across the parking lot in order to see water. If you ware wanting an unobstructed view of the Bay, you will not have it at this property. One thing that was not ideal for us is that the only parking offered is directly under the condo and if you have a tall van, you may not be able to fit underneath. We tried parking at the end of the row of condos and a note was left on our vehicle that we were not allowed to park there. Other than those 2 things, we had a wonderful stay at this property.

“We had a great stay and had an awesome experience. The location was ideal and super close to the beach & restaurants. We had everything we needed and felt extremely safe at the condo. We could have used a few more dish towels & maybe a fresh comforter on the king bed as it wasn’t in great shape, but those were seriously minor inconveniences. We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back to this place!!”
