Star House Lodge - Ocean Front Timbered Lodge

Star House Lodge has been beautifully remodeled, with tasteful, high-end furnishings and decor. The perfect location for all your Mendocino coast adventures.

This ideal location is less than 1 mile from Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. The historic Mendocino Village and all it has to offer is just a short 12-minute drive. From this central location, you can be at MacKerricher, Russian Gulch, or Van Damme State Park in less than 15 minutes. These parks offer a variety of activities, including horseback riding, kayaking & beachcombing, tide-pooling, and extensive hiking trails. Glass Beach and the new Coastal Trail are just 3 miles away.

The Star House Lodge is situated on a large oceanfront parcel shared by the Star House. Because of the cliff front location, there is a minimum age of 10 years and over required for any guests.

The lower level includes a cozy living room where you can watch tv, read a book or relax on the sofa while watching the waves. There is also a separate ocean view bedroom and a full detached bath.

The second level is an open concept featuring a kitchen, an eat-in countertop with an ocean view, and a living room with flat-screen TV large all with stunning views of the pacific. Also, on this level, there is a custom queen-size Murphy bed that still allows ample space in the room when down.

A door on this level leads you to the impressive wraparound balcony that can be accessed by the exterior staircase leading to the lower deck. This tranquil space is perfect for unwinding with your morning coffee, tea, or glass of wine in the evening. All while taking in the ever-changing ocean views and stunning sunsets.

Although Star House Lodge is pet friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only with a maximum number of no more than 2.

We really had a great relaxing time. It was quiet the views were incredible and the whole place is so serene. The beds were well appointed the kitchen was set up with everything that we needed including coffee and creamer. We will definitely be back thank you so much for the accommodations.

The place is super clean, beautifully updated and decorated, and very private. The location and the view are both spectacular! Overlooking the cliff is a great place to be when you want some peace.

Fabulous views comfortable home

We truly enjoyed our visit. Enjoyed walking our pups around this large property with ocean sound and views. We were lucky to get fantastic sunsets. Everything was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. We will stay here again. Thanks a bunch

We watched a seagull stay tight to her next on the big grassy rock. Dad would come by occasionally to bring her food and fend off predators. The young deer enjoyed us sharing the area with them.

The nicest vacation rental we have ever rented!

This beautiful house is the nicest vacation rental we have ever rented. It has an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean, and you can hear the waves with the windows open. The layout of the house is ideal, The living room and kitchen are on the second floor to maximize the ocean views. The bedroom and bathroom are on the lower level along with a second comfortable seating area. The furnishings are very tasteful and the house is immaculately maintained. We would stay here again without hesitation!

A beautiful and peaceful escape

We loved everything about this place. It was so peaceful with such amazing views. It was close to Mendocino, the Harbor in Fort Bragg, etc. The kitchen had most of what you need to cook some simple meals but the food at restaurants and cafes in that area is so good that we didn't eat in that often. The only thing that confused us was that it said to park by the blue fish but they are weathered so they are white, LOL. Heads up there is not table to eat at but the bar counter facing the ocean has great stools for eating.

Reviewer Comments: Last minute 1st wedding anniversary trip to Mendocino and everything looked to have very limited availability but I called just to double check and the ladies in the office went above and beyond to help us find this amazing property. Very clean, private and couldn't ask for a better view. We will absolutely be becoming back! As much as I want to give a glowing review because the house and staff deserve it, I also want to keep it a secret to make sure there is availability for our next trip :)

Lovely.The only problem was the urine smell especially in the lower level by the sofa. The cleaning crew used Pine Sol or similar to mask it but that left the floors sticky. We left the windows and doors open often and that helped. It was much better by the end of the week.We highly recommend dragging the beach chairs to the cliff edged to watch the sunset. We had a magical time and may come again.

This cottage is Very dusty and mold in the shower and window seals.My husband is allergic to dust mites and mold, and he broke out into a rash. We booked for 5 nights and left the next day . VRBO WAS OF NO HELP! I DO NOT RECOMMEND

Modern stay on the bluffs

Love this place and would stay here again. Everything is renovated beautifully. We loved sipping coffee while watching the hummingbirds outside the window. The Murphy bed was comfortable as well as the main bed. We were incredibly bummed that the fog never lifted during our stay. The water is RIGHT THERE, but we never saw it. Location is great, close to ft Bragg and Mendocino. Of note, we felt weird taking a shower or washing dishes because it is plastered everywhere about how bad the drought is. It is also weird that they want the dishes clean before departure, but they won’t let you run the dish washer as you leave. Makes the AM checkout complicated. There is also a fog horn in the area 24/7 that we could hear while trying to sleep.

Hi Cassie: We're glad you enjoyed Star House Lodge. We apologize for the confusion about the water use. Mendocino County provided the conserve water signs and requested the we put them in our vacation rentals. We are in the process of taking the signs down and had not gotten to Star House Lodge before your arrival. We do hope Jackie has a good Birthday, in spite of the fog and that you will come back for another visit to the Mendocino Coast. Awesome Private Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location with a private access to the ocean that is very unique. The views are just awesome here. Kitchen is great but no outdoor grill. Internet was very fast but the interface requires you to constantly log in which can be confusing to your devices (getting them to the log in page can be troublesome because they will be on the network but not able to access the internet). It works every time though so previous reviews that said it was spotty are dated. Only complaint: Outdoor Fire Ring was closed but was depicted in the pictures. We were disappointed because we planned to use it and were not able to.
