Peaceful Multi-family Lodge

Higgins lodge is located just 20 minutes south of interstate 80 in a secluded valley. The lodge offers a peaceful and relaxing get-away for single and multi-family outings and is just a short drive from Starved Rock State Park.

The lodge sleeps up to 11 people in 5 bedrooms with 2 twin-sized beds each and 1 bedroom with 1 twin-sized bed. There are four full bathrooms each with a step in shower, sink, mirror and toilet. The living room includes several couches, TV/DVD player, 3/4 size refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, large toaster oven and a dining area with table and chairs to seat up to 11. Guests staying in Higgins have access to a charcoal grill
, a fire ring with benches and an outdoor sink. Each booking includes one small load of fire wood and fire starting supplies free of charge, additional loads can be purchased on site for a small fee.

All of our rental properties are located at Pilgrim Park Camp and Conference Center. The camp is on 150 acres of mostly forested land with two creeks and a fair sized pond which both provide ample oppertunities for fishing. We are alsonjust a short drive from the Hennepin Canal State Parkway which has a family friendly bike path and even more areas for fishing.

Rustic Camp Stay

Rustic accommodations with many extras supplied (toilet paper, hand soap, towels, sheets, blankets). Matt provided anything asked for quickly. Pretty camp and nice pool.

Great Get away!

Location is far enough away that you can unplug and enjoy nature, but anything you might need is 15-20 mins maximum including a Walmart. Great communication and check in from the hosts as well.

Great Place for a Peaceful Retreat

We had a small group of church ladies together for the weekend and couldn’t have been happier. The quiet and solitude was wonderful and we could get outside (even in February) and walk some trails and get fresh air and enjoy the wildlife. Highly recommend for a quiet peaceful place to get away to.

Bonspiel weekend

There was 3 curling teams that stayed. Everything was as advertised. Matt was on site at check in and made sure we had everything we needed. Very enjoyable stay.

Weekend friend hangout

Friendly hosts & nice property, we enjoyed hiking & stargazing on site. The dorm-style setup was perfect for folks being able to stay up late / get up early while others slept, and although the kitchen was minimal it had everything we needed for a weekend's worth of meals.

Perfect Getaway Spot!

This rustic lodge was perfect for our extended family weekend away. Due to the setup of the building we each had our own rooms and bathroom. The living room is comfortable and had a homey feel. The property itself is beautiful and we enjoyed hiking and exploring. Cell service is not strong which we didn't mind as it meant for an even more relaxing getaway. Another review suggested bringing drinking water, which we did, but we found the faucet water was fine as well and access to an outdoor sink for washing dishes during our stay was super convenient. The owners are friendly and accommodating; their communication was great and we felt both safe and welcome. We are looking forward to coming back for an extended stay and checking out the other properties this site has to offer.

Girls' trip

Enjoyed a wonderful girls' trip with friends. The location was close enough to some towns for supplies (about 15 min) but far enough away for privacy. The grounds/trails were great! Enough places to walk and explore. Cute bridges and outdoor games. The area gets very dark at night, so be aware if you are arriving after dark. Great fire pit that the owner even supplied wood for and set it up for us. And speaking of the owner, Matt was amazing! Super attentive and helpful. A couple of things to note, there is no real kitchen. There is a farmhouse sink in one of the bathrooms and no stove/oven. However, there was a large toaster oven, coffee pot, and 2-burner hotplate to use along with some basic supplies. We brought crockpots and other supplies we needed, so that was enough for us. Just be prepared. The grounds are on a church camp, which made for the perfect spot to have single adults. It could sleep up to 11 and also had 4 bathrooms. Nice for everyone to have their own spot to sleep. Overall, this was a great find for us! Will stay again.

Un muy buen lugar para pasar en familia, muy grande para recorrer y relajarse, solo un poco inconforme con el agua que no está tan limpia como desearía pero nada considerable, en general una buena experiencia con buenos anfitriones que tenían todo preparado para pasar un buen tiempo

There were 10 family members getting together for the weekend and the facility was terrific for this. We loved the grounds, very peaceful and relaxing. Made good use of the fire pit. The host even provided some firewood and kindling. We loved it.

Long weekend with friends

This was exactly what we were looking for. Space for everyone (group of 10) and everyone was happy, from the 2-yearold, to the teenagers and parents. Very peaceful surrounding, and the absence of a proper kitchen did not prevent us in the least from putting great meals onto the table. Matt was very helpful and friendly. Overall this was a great stay and we will likely be back.

Great family get away

This was a wonderful property for a family reunion. Plenty of sleeping arrangements and bathrooms /showers. The grounds were just gorgeous. Staff was friendly, attentive, and easy to communicate with. Loved this place and will be looking to return in the future!

Family weekend

We had a great stay at the Higgins Lodge. Matt was an excellent host and made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. We met up with family as it was a halfway point for us all. Thanks for a cool place to stay. Kids fished, swam, played basketball, corn hole, and had great family time for a weekend!! Awesome air condition, comfy beds and better than tent camping with a large group.

Great space for a family reunion!

After a long pandemic kept three siblings and their partners apart, we enjoyed time together around the big table and reviewing old family photos in front of the TV. With the many windows providing views of the wooded grounds we felt like we were outside even when in the air conditioned lodge. Those who wanted to hike could use the short paths near the lodge or drive to nearby state parks for real workouts. With 11 twin beds in 6 separate rooms and four full bathrooms there was privacy and quiet when sleeping and grooming. We brought foods already composed, needing only heating,, but we did find online sources for caterers and dining nearby should we have preferred it. Staff at the facility offered extra resources for cooking when needed. Perfect!

Golf Getaway

We booked this cabin for our golf trip because we wanted our own space, big enough for all of us to be together. The cabin was perfect for us, having plenty of bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Matt, the property manager, was so great to work with and very accommodating. We will look to book here again on future trips to the area.

Fantastic getaway and great host!

We had the best weekend here! The host was very helpful and incredibly accommodating, making sure we had everything we need. The property was beautiful and we loved walking around the paths, playing basketball and other games, making bonfires, and having so much quiet space outdoors. We had 4 young kids and would highly recommend this to other families looking for a quiet getaway! Would be great for adult groups too! We can’t wait to come back.

we went to the cabin to have a getaway from our jobs and to have some halloween time with each other! we were greeted by the owners, and they were very kind. we really enjoyed the lodge and had no issues! we want to come every year!

Beautiful nature retreat

We couldn't have been happier with our stay. It was the perfect balance between rustic nature and comfort. We would have been perfectly fine staying in a cabin with less amenities so having access to several bathrooms/bedrooms was incredible. Plus the dining/living area was huge and gave us plenty of room to spread out. The kids had a blast exploring the property. We spent one morning at Starved Rock but quickly left due to the crowds. To have so much acreage basically to ourselves was incredible. We spent the rest of our time at the property. The host Matt was super accommodating and very helpful. We will definitely stay there again.

Great place

The place was great for our guys weekend. Very clean and spacious with plenty of bedrooms for our group. We loved the large fire pit and we took full advantage of the outdoor area to relax in. Matt was very friendly, knowledgeable about the areas, and great to communicate with. We would definitely stay again

Matt is an excellent host. The river and trails are fun to explore. We enjoyed the fire pit and the autumn fall colors of the camp.

Relaxing, peaceful, beautiful

We had an absolutely amazing time!! The property was very well maintained with so much to do! We loved everything about it - the firepit & the trails were our favorites. The cabin was very clean, comfortable beds & the 4 bathrooms where a huge blessing!! The owners were easy to reach, friendly & very helpful. We spent one day at Starved Rock but we had more fun just around the property! So glad we found this & we hope to go back again!!
