The property was a block from the Truckee river in a beautiful old neighborhood across from “the bluffs” which is where all the old mansions from the 1920’s are located. There is a great walking trail along the river and what looks like a great restaurant, the Beaujolais Bistro. There is a great coffee shop next to that, both in an old, beautiful arts and crafts old house. My wife who has owned a vrbo for over 20 years and was a super host every year was impressed by the cleanliness, amenities and quality of the bed. Not sure how I missed the pet fee box upon making the reservation, but when we arrived the owner or manager next door came out and commented that we did not pay for the dog. We asked if she could charge us from her end and she said no. So we immediately went online and paid for it and told her we did. No response from her. But she did tell vrbo and we were charged twice. It took over a two weeks to get that reversed. She never told us she did charge us after all. Not even when we told her we checked out early in the morning. It was a simple mistake, that had it been acknowledged would be excusable. It is too bad that happened, because we would stay again as we through Reno often and would have stayed again.

We had a wonderful stay at River Cottage in Sept 2025. Communication with our Guest Contact/Host was easy, informative, and pleasant. The location is ideal for walks along the Riverwalk and close to stores, coffee shops, Day Spas, and Downtown Reno. The studio interior was inviting and had everything we needed during our stay. The weather was pleasant so we were even able to enjoy drinks on the private porch swing. The host put much care ensuring everything was just what we needed, even including a few unexpected complementary amenities like bottled water and snacks. Perfect place for a cozy & relaxing couples stay. Would gladly stay again.

Our studio was very cute and comfortable, just too small for us. The manager was on site and very nice and friendly. She let us look at larger apartments for future stays which do look great. The only downside was no TV and having to walk through the shower to get to the laundry room.

I was happily surprised at the charm, extras, and location! Very close to the Riverwalk & not far from the downtown area. Kitchenette had everything pots, pans, utensils, dishes, spices, sugar & creamer. Laundry in the unit with detergent & dryer sheets provided. Other extras were snacks, bottled water, mints, earplugs & coffee.

Charming and cozy getaway

This was my third stay at the river cottage. As usual, everything was perfect with my stay. The property is well cared for inside and out, and it has everything I need for a comfortable stay. It is also private and very peaceful, and just steps away from the River walk. The neighborhood is very quiet, yet with an easy 5 - 7 minute walk, you can be at the casinos and many downtown restaurants. I look forward to my fourth stay in the future!

Cute Apartment

This apartment was good for my wife and I to stay the night. It is nicely decorated and well equipped for the space. The shower is small, but adequate. It's in a good location and was easy to find. Check in and check out went smoothly.

My "go to" place to stay in Reno!

This was my second stay at this property, and I am designating it as my "go to" place to stay in Reno. The apartment is very charming and comfortable, and I feel very at home here. It is so quiet and so peaceful, and the well kept property with lots of flowers and trees and cool lighting at night adds to the pleasure of staying here. For me, it is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing long weekend. I like the fact that while the property and neighborhood are so peaceful and quiet, it is only a very short walk of about 5 or so minutes to downtown where all the casino hotels, shops, and restaurants are--making it an ideal location for those who want the best of all worlds for a stay in Reno. The river walk is also at the end of the short block where the property is located--another big plus. The unique antique gas fireplace is wonderful! It is easy to operate, looks like a real wood fire, and throws great heat! The bed is super comfortable, and the heated toilet seat is a nice extra! Lastly, the neighborhood feels very safe, and there is a designated off street parking space for the apartment which is right outside the front door.
