Come visit our property to find peace and tranquility in our new private one bedroom suite. Trumans Retreat is quite literally in the forest surrounded by nature. We have taken pride in providing a fully equipped kitchen, relaxing living room, clean spacious bathroom and brand new king-size bed. Relish in the natural landscape vibrating with positive energy outside on your own private patio.
We're conveniently located just a 5 minute drive from downtown Sooke, and 5-10 minutes from stunning beaches, lakes, rivers, hiking and a variety of restaurants. If you love the sounds of nature and peaceful nights this is your place!

Important Details:
We love animals, but our suite is pet-free to accommodate our own furry family members Buttercup our indoor/outdoor cat, and Berk our gentle Anatolian Shepard. He is our protector and will bark on occasion, it’s his job to do so but we do not let him bark excessively.
Smoking is permitted outside on the patio only. Our property is very special to us and we ask that you respect our privacy as we will respect yours.

We prioritize tranquility, so we kindly ask that you refrain from hosting parties or playing loud music.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is very quiet and private. It is a very short distance to Sooke. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. Recommend it highly.

It was so nice at Trumans retreat! The forest setting was so peaceful and it was in a great location for exploring. The hosts were easy to communicate with and we loved Berk! The place was clean and nicely kept. We had a great time.

Beautiful and Peaceful

Can't think of a single thing I'd change!

Clean, comfortable, peaceful, and convenient location. SUCH an enjoyable stay! It even smelled wonderful :) When we weren't out seeing Sooke and the surroundings, or grabbing a local brew, we were sitting in the living room looking out the side or back windows at the bunnies grazing in the pretty yard. The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, including three ways to make coffee and a nice teapot. Thank you, Elise and fam!

Sehr schöne, saubere und ruhig gelegene Unterkunft mit großer privater Terrasse und sehr bequemen Bett. Es sah genau so aus wie auf den Fotos. Die Vermieterin war sehr hilfsbereit. Die Katze kam uns besuchen und wollte gestreichelt werden. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.Das einzige kleine Manko war die etwas spärlich eingerichtete Küche: das Besteck war abgezählt, es gab keinen großen Topf in dem man Nudeln hätte kochen können. Dafür gab es aber einen Grill!Wir würden jeder Zeit wieder kommen.

Lovely forest suite

Beautiful suite tucked in the forest. Close to town and attractions. Very peaceful and quiet. Had all the amenities. Was nice to sit and listen to the birds and see some wild rabbits. The suite was very spacious. Very comfortable bed. So cozy and lovely. Would def return and recommend.

Last minute getaway

Elise and Garys place is exquisite. We are so grateful to have found this last minute booking and will absolutely return in the future. Nestled in the woods, their rental is warm, cozy, comfortable and luxurious. It has everything you need and they are a text away for anything else! It was a joy to hear the Swanson thrushs every evening and morning, that was icing on the cake. Can't wait to come back!!!

What a gem!

Love this place! Very relaxed and tranquil forest setting paired with stylish and classy minimalist style. Enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the surrounding birdcalls. Great base of operations to enjoy the surrounding area - close to restaurants / amenities and outdoor attractions. Easygoing and flexible hosts too!We also enjoyed the occasional visits from the cute kitty and big friendly dog that live elsewhere on the property. Hoping to stay again in the future!

Amazing stay!

Elise’s property is just like the photos - cute, clean, and convenient. We had a wonderful stay while shooting a movie in Vancouver island. Elise checked in and offered new towels in the middle of our long stay as well which was a lovely touch. We would stay here again if given the chance to come back and visit the island!

Great place for Sooke stay.

I loved Elise’s place. It was just 5 minutes away from Sooke Central District, but felt like I was in my own private place in the woods. Beautiful scenery and Elise was very friendly. Would stay here again on another Sooke trip.

Loved my stay here. Beautiful forest setting, well equipped, comfortable, clean suite. Elise was a gracious host. I had a few requests and she responded immediately with what I needed. I would definitely stay here again.

Outstanding.......

What a beautiful, clean, well laid out accommodation. We loved the accessibility to town while being enveloped by lush forest. Having stayed at more than a few VRBOs, this stay was refreshing. I have never really recommended a place before but feel I must with this property. Highly recommended! We will be staying here again.
