Thoughtfully designed and renovated, our 1940's historic home features four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The open living area invites the outdoors in with large windows, wood fireplace, piano and games for unplugged experiences. The outdoor deck includes a firepit lounge, hot tub and trail to the amazing beach below.


Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the surrounding landscape and nearby attractions. Just steps away, you'll discover the renowned Orcas Island Pottery, where local artisans showcase their creative works. Point Kimple and West Beach Resort is nearby, offering opportunities for kayak rentals, mooring for a boat, and a convenience store with basics, espresso and ice cream bar.

Outdoor adventures await with easy access to the North Valley Overlook on the Turtleback Mountain Preserve, offering hiking trails and breathtaking vistas of the San Juan Islands. The nearby Orcas Island Winery offers an opportunity to savor local vintages and enjoy the island atmosphere. 🍷

West Beach Cottage is a storybook tale of island living when the telephone line was shared by all island residents and boating to town was common. Yet with the extensive updating of all the rooms and house amenities, you can enjoy the ambiance of old island living with the comforts of todays technology.

Living Room
Our home offers a wood fireplace, plus the efficiency of a heat pump for both heating and air conditioning throughout the home. With the hand-built rock and doug fir mantle, you can imagine the stories told around the fireplace for the past 85 years. One family owned this beachfront farm from 1940 until 2017, when the current owners lovingly took on the care of this amazing home. Its now blessed with both modern amenities like a Smart TV and WIFI, plus a piano and full library of books to enjoy.

Dining
There are two new William-Sonoma dining tables to choose from. In the kitchen, there is seating for eight for breakfast and meal prep time. In the dining room, there is seating for eight to ten guests. Both rooms enjoy oversized windows with views to the water and old-growth trees. Outside there is a dining table for meals alfresco. The simple, white china and table cloth options create a refined yet casual table setting for any occasion.

Kitchen
New stainless steel appliances and a fully equipped kitchen makes cooking at home a pleasure. The large country kitchen has vintage cabinets refinished with a beautiful selection of dinnerware, serve ware, and glasssware for every day and happy hour. Our large William-Sonoma table and chairs add to the charm with contemporary touches throughout. Our dedicated coffee bar proves to be popular each morning with a selection of teas, beans and sweeteners.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
The primary bedroom, The Waterview, provides a peaceful sanctuary for rest and relaxation, while the additional bedrooms offer plenty of space for family and guests. Each room offers a reading chair, luxury linens and throws, and amazing views. The upstairs bedrooms share an extraordinary bathroom with a custom walk-in shower, double vanity and separate soaker tub.
Need to shower quickly? Head downstairs for the second full bathroom with a custom-tiled shower, towels and amenities for extra space. We have two large water heaters to keep up with all your water use!
The downstairs fourth bedroom, The Green Room, has an ensuite bathroom with a shower and vanity, walk-in closet and writers desk. With easy accessibility, this bedroom is a guest favorite!

Outdoor Living
The custom cedar deck expands your living space to include a comfy lounge and firepit, a dining area and BBQ. Plus there is an infinity deck with chaise lounges for cooling down after soaking in the hot tub. With privacy and towering trees above, you'll hear the eagles whistling in the trees and be able to spot seal bobbing in the waters below. The deck is an amazing extension that is just outside the cottage yet brings you directly in touch with the natural world around you. With outdoor lighting in the hot tub area and dining space, you'll be able to enjoy your time well into the evening.

The Beach
One of the greatest features of this property is the sandy, private beach below. You have a section of beach for your exclusive use. Head down the trail, and you'll find a remote paradise for strolling, shell collecting, and watercraft. Bring your paddleboard and kayak to explore the shoreline. We provide beach chairs that can be tied up below for your convenience, and beach towels for your use. Though its hard to see, there are neighbors up and down the beach that also stroll by. Say hi, and please respect their section of beach and privacy. You can linger and play all you want on your piece of this sandy heaven.

Please note: We are a pet-friendly home with some rules and requests.

* A nonrefundable $200 Pet fee will apply.
*We allow one or two pets only. Please do not request to bring more than two dogs.
*We reserve the right to refuse certain breeds and dogs over 60lbs in weight
*All dogs must be on a leash when on the beach and walking in the neighborhood
*Guests must pickup and dispose of "dog bombs" in the yard
*No dogs are allowed on the furniture, including the bedrooms, throw blankets and bed linens!
*No dogs are allowed in the Green Bedroom with white rug, or any of the bathrooms.
*Never leave your dog(s) alone in the house or dog kennel. You must bring your dog along with you when exploring the island and dining out.
*Please teach your dog to use the dog door and kennel for night time use, or please crate your dog overnight and as needed.
*Please bring your dogs blankets and bed, and toys so he/she feels more relaxed. We have dog bowls, extra towels for feet cleaning, and some toys.
*Please use the water hose out by the hot tub to wash off sandy feet, including your dog

The libary:
You'll find many books throughout the house, plus games. We are happy to share the many books, and ask that you please do not take any of them with you. This is not a "trading" collection, but the personal books of the owners. Please enjoy and put back after you're done. Thanks!
