The Space:
A 4th-floor condo in the Grand Lodge built for groups who want the base-area location without the base-area price — and who'd rather not share one bathroom.
➔ Bedroom: Separate King bedroom with its own ensuite bath.
➔ Living Room: Queen Murphy bed folds down at night; sleeps 4 total.
➔ Two Full Bathrooms: The ensuite plus a second full bath — no morning traffic jam.
➔ Kitchen & Dining: Full kitchen and a sit-down dining area.
➔ Building: Indoor/outdoor heated pool and hot tub (year-round), steam room, fitness center, ski storage, free town shuttle.
+ Two full bathrooms and a separate bedroom — rare for the price
+ 3-minute walk to the lift, 6 minutes to downtown Crested Butte
+ The most affordable way to stay right at the base
– Built in 1999 — clean and comfortable, but a '90s-condo feel, not a full remodel
– No A/C — rarely needed at altitude; windows open to cool mountain air
Guest Access:
Self check-in with a door code — arrive on your own schedule. Your stay includes full access to the Grand Lodge's indoor/outdoor heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, and steam room, plus base-area ski and bike storage with our partner Butte & Co. Park free in the on-site lot, which has EV charging.
The Neighborhood:
You're at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, a 3-minute walk from the lifts and the base-area shops and restaurants. Historic downtown Crested Butte — Elk Avenue's galleries, breweries, and dining — is 6 minutes away by car or the free shuttle. Summer brings some of Colorado's best hiking and mountain biking, with trailheads 5–25 minutes out.
Getting Around:
Most guests bring a car — there's a free on-site lot with EV charging. You can also ride the free town shuttle, which runs to downtown Crested Butte about every 15 minutes. The lifts are a 3-minute walk, so you can leave the car parked all weekend if you like.
Other Things to Note:
• Colorado STR License Number 304482.
• This property is NOT pet friendly — the HOA does not allow pets on the 4th floor (a building policy, not a Traverse rule). You may see owners' pets elsewhere in the building.
• No air conditioning — at 9,000+ ft the nights are cool and windows open to fresh mountain air.
• Housekeeping is Airbnb-style, not daily hotel service. If you'd like a mid-stay turnover, give us 24 hours' notice to coordinate with the cleaner; there's a $100 charge for it.
• The Grand Lodge is a building of individually owned condos built in 1999 — please be considerate of neighbors.
Interaction with Guests:
There's no front desk at the Grand Lodge, but we're quick to respond by message and run a virtual concierge with deep local knowledge — trail picks, dinner reservations, lift questions, anything. You'll get check-in details and a digital guidebook before arrival, and we're a text away during your stay.
