The Space:

A 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo at Black Bear Lodge with vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling mountain-view windows, and a gas fireplace in the great room.

Building rule: bikes and skis are not allowed in the elevators or condos — the secure garage and ground-floor locker room are for your adventure gear. Heads-up: the garage is sized for mountain-town SUVs; tall or extended-bed trucks may need surface parking. No A/C (Mt. Crested Butte stays cool at 9,375 ft). Sleeps 4 max (house rule).



Guest Access:

Entry: Self check-in via the lock box on the unit door. Your 4-digit door code is sent through the Traverse digital guidebook 24 hours before arrival, along with the underground garage gate code, your assigned locker number, the Wi-Fi credentials, and a parking map.



Your private space: The entire 2-bedroom condo is yours for the length of your stay, plus one assigned space in the heated underground garage and one dedicated ground-floor gear locker.



Shared building spaces (all guests): Year-round outdoor hot tub, grill deck, lobby lounge, elevator.



Check-in: 4:00 PM. Check-out: 10:00 AM. Early check-in or late departure is sometimes possible — message us at least 48 hours ahead and we'll confirm based on the cleaning schedule.



During your stay: Our local guest-experience team is reachable by phone, text, or VRBO message — typically under 30 minutes during business hours, with 24/7 emergency support.



The Neighborhood:

Black Bear Lodge sits in the Mt. Crested Butte base village, directly across from the West Wall Lift and Westwall Lodge — the closest cluster of condos to the West Wall chair. Walk outside, cross to the Westwall courtyard, and take the skier tunnel to the lift in about 3 minutes, no shuttle needed.



Base area (5-min walk): ski rentals, equipment tuning, casual restaurants, coffee, après-ski, and a general store.



Downtown historic Crested Butte (3 miles / 8-min drive, or free Mountain Express shuttle): six blocks of painted Victorian buildings on Elk Avenue — independent restaurants, craft breweries, art galleries, weekend live music, and a summer farmers' market.



Seasons:

♡ Winter (Nov–Apr): steep terrain, Nordic tracks, downtown ice skating.

♡ Summer (Jun–Sep): Wildflower Festival in July, hiking + biking from the base, Evolution Bike Park, East River fly-fishing.

♡ Fall (Sep–Oct): aspen peak color, Kebler Pass drive.

♡ Spring (May): quiet shoulder season, off-peak rates.



Airport: Gunnison–Crested Butte Regional (GUC), 28 miles south, ~40 min — direct winter flights from Denver, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago. Denver International is 230 miles / ~4.5 hr (watch Monarch Pass in winter). Altitude: 9,375 ft — plan a low-exertion first 24 hours and hydrate.



Getting Around:

✔ Heated underground parking: 1 assigned space per reservation (included). Gate code sent via guidebook.

✔ Walk to West Wall Lift: ~3 minutes via the outdoor tunnel at Westwall Lodge (no shuttle required).

✔ Walk to Mt. Crested Butte base area: ~5 minutes for shops, dining, rentals.

✔ Free Mountain Express shuttle: stops at the base village, runs every ~15 min to historic downtown Crested Butte.

✔ Drive to downtown: 3 miles, ~8 min. Drive to GUC airport: 28 miles, ~40 min.

✔ Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): available but limited, especially winter early mornings. Local taxi also operates.

✔ Rental cars: available at GUC. AWD/4WD strongly recommended November–April.

✔ EV charging: not at the building — nearest is the Lodge at Mountaineer Square (~5-min drive).



Garage size heads-up: built to mountain-condo scale. Standard SUVs, sedans, and crossovers fit with room; full-size pickups or vehicles with roof ski racks may need surface parking (fold mirrors on entry).

▵ Bikes & skis — building rule — Per building policy, bikes and skis cannot be brought into the elevators or condos. Your secure ground-floor locker and the heated garage are provided for skis, boards, boots, and bikes. Traveling with high-value bikes? Message us before booking and we'll confirm the best secure storage for your dates (a seasonal bike valet is available in summer).

▵ Elevation — The condo sits at 9,375 ft. Altitude symptoms (headache, fatigue, poor sleep) are common the first 24 hours. Hydrate aggressively, go easy on alcohol night one, and pace your first day on the mountain.



▵ No A/C — Mt. Crested Butte stays cool year-round (summer highs ~75°F, nights in the 50s). Windows open.



▵ Heated underground garage — 1 assigned space per reservation. Sized for standard mountain-town SUVs; full-size pickups or vehicles with oversized rooftop ski boxes may need surface parking (first-come).



▵ Sleeps 4 maximum — both bedrooms have queen beds; no pullout sofa. Strict 4-guest max.
