Hi, I’m Dani — and together with my partner George, we created Gwandalan House as a place of rest, connection, and calm. What started as our own retreat from busy life has grown into something we love sharing with others who value nature, slowing down, and meaningful time together.

I’m your main point of contact during your stay. We care deeply about this home and the land it sits on, and we hope that care is felt throughout your stay.

Gwandalan isn’t about perfection — it’s about warmth, ease, and creating space to breathe. We truly hope you feel at home here, and that you leave feeling rested, grounded, and a little more connected than when you arrived.

We chose this area because it offers a rare balance of peace and possibility. The Byron Bay hinterland has a way of slowing you down the moment you arrive — wide skies, birdsong, rolling green land, and a sense of space that’s hard to find elsewhere. There’s a grounding calm here that makes it easy to breathe, reset, and reconnect.

What we love most is that while Gwandalan feels wonderfully tucked away, you’re never far from life and energy. In minutes you can be in Bangalow for a coffee, at the Eltham Hotel listening to live music, chasing waterfalls, or heading into Byron Bay for the beach, markets, or a long lunch. It’s the kind of place where you can do a lot — or absolutely nothing at all — and both feel equally right.

This area invites you to live a little slower, notice the small things, and enjoy the rhythm of nature, while still having everything you need close by. It’s that balance that made us fall in love with it, and why we chose to make Gwandalan House here.

We chose to keep the home true to its setting and spirit. It’s comfortable, welcoming, and full of heart — a place to rest, not impress. And for the right guests, that’s where the magic is.
