The Space:

Whare Marie is a warm, cosy three-bedroom cottage tucked into a quiet, semi-rural pocket on the edge of the Redwoods, with rich timber walls, soft carpet and big windows that frame the surrounding greenery. With no immediate neighbours in sight, you get birdsong, fresh air and real privacy - yet you're just minutes from Rotorua's world-class outdoor attractions. The standout is the direct access to the Redwoods mountain-biking network: a private track leads from the property down to the road, where you join the trails.

The Neighborhood:

Whare Marie sits on the edge of one of Rotorua's most desirable outdoor areas - a quiet, semi-rural setting surrounded by greenery and lifestyle properties. The famous Whakarewarewa Forest (the Redwoods) is just moments away, with world-class mountain biking, walking and running trails and the renowned Redwoods Treewalk. Despite the peaceful surroundings, you're still an easy drive from supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and Rotorua's main attractions - the lakes, geothermal parks and adventure activities. It's the perfect base for guests who want the best of both worlds.



Getting Around:

A car is recommended - the cottage is in a quiet area away from public transport, but most of Rotorua's attractions are a short drive. For mountain bikers, the big drawcard is being able to ride straight onto the Redwoods trail network from the property. By car, Te Puia is about 8 minutes away, the Waiariki and Polynesian spas around 10, Rotorua Airport about 10, and Skyline, ZORB and Canopy Tours roughly 16.



Other Things to Note:

A few things worth knowing: Whare Marie is a rural cottage on a working lifestyle farm block with farm animals - horses, cattle and sheep - so the usual farm hazards exist outside the cottage garden area. The property is on the opposite side of Tarawera Road to one of the mountain-bike forest entrances, so if you're accessing the forest from the cottage, take extreme care crossing - it's a busy road with fast-moving vehicles. There's a heat pump, secure bike storage in the garage, and WiFi at around 108 Mbps.
