Cast Away Cabin

Welcome home to a rustic retreat nestled between the Shenandoah River and GW National Forest. Enjoy this secluded cabin in the woods with all the comforts of home just a short walk from the riverfront.After a long day hiking, fishing or paddling the river, put your feet up at Cast Away Cabin and relax, recharge and soak in the beauty of nature. Take in the peaceful mountain views and the sound of the river from our expansive deck with private hot tub. Cozy up inside, cook a tasty meal or have a campfire under the stars!
* 2 bedroom, 1bath log cabin w/ eat-in kitchen, living room + loft
* 2 Queens, 1 Double sofa bed in loft (sleeps 6)
* Fully equipped kitchen
* Gas fireplace
* Large deck with scenic views + private hot tub
* Outdoor fire pit + charcoal grill
* Shared river access

Things to note:
–Dogs are welcome! Sorry, we can't accept cats. The pet fee is $75 per pet and will be added as an extra service fee after your booking is confirmed. Price based on a one to two night stay for up to 2 dogs. If your stay is 3 or more days and/or if you have more than 2 dogs, an additional fee will apply.
–Linens are NOT included. Sheets + towels are available upon request for $30 per set.
–The cabin is stocked with a starter supply of toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen trash bags, hand soap and dish soap. We also provide salt, pepper and coffee filters. Blankets + pillows are provided. Please bring your own firewood + charcoal.
–While there is WiFi at the cabin the service is not fast enough for video calls/conferencing. Come and unplug!
–A minimum of 3 nights is required when booking during major holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day.

Birthday Getaway

I booked the cabin for my husbands birthday weekend for just us. He was absolutely ecstatic and spent the entire weekend relaxed. The cabin is incredibly clean, spacious, and equipped, whether there’s two couples with some kids/no kids, or just a romantic getaway for two. Property is secluded and there’s plenty of space for outdoor activities if need be! At night we really enjoyed the hot tub and the view of the sky above!

The cabin was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend. It’s very secluded. You do have a neighbor but barley heard them.The drive way did get a little rough after a storm but he came down the next day and fixed it.

Quiet Woods Retreat

We had a great time at this location! We have stayed in the area before and enjoy the Luray, Virginia region. First time taking our kids with us and they had a good time. Definitely an “off-the-track” spot which is nice. We all enjoyed the hot tub.

Beautiful cabin

We had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous cabin. We had an issue early on with the hot tub , but the owners were very responsive and had it resolved in no time.

Very Nice

The cabin is awesome. Very clean and cozy. The deck with the hot tub is where we spent most of our time when not exploring the area. Communication was great. We definitely recommend it and would stay there again. The only negative was the river access. We had access to an area across the road from the driveway to "enjoy the river, fish, and have a campfire". It would be a great place to do that but it is rented out to people to camp there. We went down to sit by the river only to discover that the entire riverfront area was taken up by a family who rented the space. The renters were understandably upset that completely strangers were invading their campsite. It made for an awkward situation.

Best time ever!

This place was amazing! Peaceful, beautiful, close to things to do. If you love nature this is the place for you. Owners were easy to work with. Very accommodating. The hot tub was a plus! Very clean.

Beautiful cabin with mountain views

We enjoyed our week long stay. Check in and check out went smoothly. The cabin was nice and clean. The hot tub was also very clean. We loved the secluded location and mountain views. Thank you for making the cabin pet friendly.

Wonderful seclusion

We stayed in Cast Away Cabin in the depth of winter, and it was wonderful. So quiet. No one around for miles, as far as we could see. The hosts were excellent and accommodating. The cabin was spotless, neat, well furnished, and above all cozy and comfortable when the weather dropped into the low digits. Only one drawback -- the internet service is so poor it is mainly unusable. Maybe the satellite service needs work or an upgrade. Be sure to bring your own condiments, oil, seasonings as the cabin is not outfitted for cooking except for dishes, pots and pans.

What a great cabin

We enjoyed are for days at the cabin immensely. We explored the area during the day and came every night to cook out on the grill and watch the stars from the hot tub. It's a truly peaceful area and the cabin was perfect for 2-4 people.

Great location, dog hair everywhere

I will start by saying that the location itself was very peaceful and relaxing and the hot tub was nice. However, the beds and pillows in both bedrooms were coated in black dog hair. This was the mattress and pillows themselves, before adding linens. This fact itself may not dissuade some folks from renting the place, but for myself, putting sheets and pillowcases over all the hair was very off-putting, and the fact that I have animal allergies really upset me as I develop severe eye and sinus symptoms. Was upsetting. I would suggest to the owner to do a thorough cleaning of the beds before guests come, and also to sweep up the dog hair. Not everyone is comfortable sleeping on a pillow with dog hair. As an aside, we had nothing we could use to remove the fur, and as it was on both beds, there was not much to be done. If you are looking for a secluded, quiet location and do not mind the dog hair on beds, floor, and furniture, you may enjoy this rental. (I knew ahead of time that pets were welcome. But I did expect that the home would be cleaned prior to our arrival.)

Secluded Serenity

The owners and Abi were super accommodating regarding check-in and departure. You will feel like you are in a treehouse while hanging out on the front deck soaking in the hot tub. There was a wonderful chorus of many species of birds to be enjoyed. The cabin is very secluded. We loved the riverfront picnic area. Such a peaceful way to spend Mother's Day. We will certainly return again! Thanks for a wonderful time.

Lovely cabin in Shenandoah

This space is perfect for 2 couples, plus there is space upstairs in the loft for kids or other to sleep on a futon if needed. Very clean, cute place. You can very clearly hear through the walls, so anyone speaking in any room can be heard anywhere in the house. We were fine with that for our short stay, but it's a good thing to know going in. The hot tub is lovely, and it is easy to drive to the National Park from here. I'd definitely recommend it.

Thank you, Cast Away Cabin!

My family just came home after spending two nights in Cast Away Cabin. Abi kept us in communicating via text to make sure we were good to arrive after a snow storm in the area. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to see how clean and well-kept the cabin was. The inside looked much bigger than expected. The second floor loft was perfect for our children. Shenandoah River is just down the hill from the cabin, a short walk from the cabin. The best part was the hot tub over looking the mountains. Make sure to grab a bag of charcoal if you're planning to grill and and enough firewood for fire pit before getting there. The closest market is Walmart in Luray which is about 25 minutes away. Thank you, Christian, Angela, and Abi! We look forward to return soon.
