Welcome to Freval Lodge *** - Bienvenue au Gîte de Freval

In a green setting, come and enjoy this beautiful 17th century farmhouse, classified as a 3-star gîte, with its private swimming pool and its large garden without vis-à-vis.

Calm and relaxation will be the order of the day in this cottage available all year round to welcome you with family, friends or colleagues for a weekend, one or more weeks.

The cottage, located on an estate is totally independent. It is equipped with a BBQ, a relaxation area around the pool with sunbeds (covered pool, accessible and heated from May to September).

With its 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the cottage can accommodate 6 people (up to 8 people with 2 extra beds). Folding cot and high chair for children available on request.

The rate displayed is for 6 people (3 rooms).
Supplement of 10€/night/additional person.

The place is ideal for getting together in the middle of nature and in peace with friends or family with a large living room with TV/dining room, a fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, oven, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, toaster, kettle), two bathrooms, one with shower and the other with bathtub.

Included in the price:
- bed sheets;
- Towels;
- dish towels;
- Pool towels.

The following are not included in the price:
- the tourist tax to be paid on site in addition to the price of the accommodation

Ideally located between Poitou, Touraine and Anjou (in the town of Bournand 86120), you can enjoy the many cultural and tourist sites nearby, explore the Loire Valley and its castles, such as the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, the Royal Fortress of Chinon and the Château de Saumur. You can also enjoy visits to troglodyte cellars, hiking, the Doué-La-Fontaine biopark, the Roiffé Loudun-Fontevraud golf course, the Center Parc Le Bois aux Daims, the Futuroscope.

The location of the cottage is ideal for stargazing and enjoying nature (remarkable trees in the park).

This was an A rental. The hosts were lovely, easy to communicate with and able to address any questions very quickly. The property is beautiful and quiet which is perfect for families. The pool is lovely and easy to operate. While 15 min outside of Chinon, this is a lovely getaway.

A fabulous, traditional farmhouse style French gite furnished exactly as you would expect - a mix of the old (great big armoires, a dining table for the whole family) and the new (comfy sofas, microwave and washing machine etc). The swimming pool was lovely with plenty of loungers and pool toys. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. They even invited us to the view the eclipse with them and their family as they had the better view.

Beautiful property and great location

The owners met us and showed us around the beautiful property. They were very friendly and offered their help with any issues. We had everything we needed and the location was superb with both Chinon and Saumur close by if we wanted to go to look round larger towns - both stunning! Thank you, we will be back!

Lovely stay in a lovely location

We had a short stay as a family here during a trip to the area. It is a lovely, peaceful property and well laid out. We had a great check in experience with the friendly concierge who explained everything to us. We also briefly met the owner who was helpful and friendly. The house is in a very nice setting and we enjoyed having the swimming pool for a nice relax in the afternoon after a day of exploring! We found the space and amenities of the house more than enough for five adults.

Beautiful house!!!

The house was great……the garden was heaven for our dog!!!!!! The garden is a big Forrest! She hunts the whole day! House is great with a beautiful swimming pool! The village nearby is very quiet…..but if you come for rest and a great place for your dog…….just book!

Great stay

The house is really comfortable and centrally located. Groceries in Loudun and trips to Saumur/Chinon are easily setup. The house is cool and has everything you need to spend a day at the pool. Even with young kids like ours. The concierge is really helpful and supportive. In short, we had a blast. Thank you.

Lovely gite!

We had a wonderful stay at Freval lodge, Jessica communicated with us about arrival and departure and ensured we were well introduced to the property. The gite itself was well equipped, spacious and clean set within beautiful grounds. We particularly loved the pool which was a great source of fun for the children whether it was hot or rainy! Not very far to the nearest village or Loudoun for supplies but a great base to explore the region and we wished we could have stayed longer,! Thanks Peggy and Jessica

Comfortable beds

Overall it was a pleasant property with all that we needed. Initially the pool was cooler than we wanted but was attended to as soon as we made the owner aware. Very quiet with no interference from neighbours or local traffic etc. The third bedroom was a but grim in comparison to the other rooms which was not a problem as we didn't need to use it.

Freval 2024

We had a wonderful holiday at Freval Lodge. The weather was good so we were to use the lovely swimming pool every day. The gite was very spacious and the layout meant that all three bedrooms had a nice degree of privacy. The Lodge was very well equipped throughout, so we lacked for nothing. The main room was not only spacious (as were all the rooms) but it was beautifully cool when the hot weather. Supermarkets and the town are literally minutes away. The owners were very friendly and clearly available if we encountered any problems. Overall a very enjoyable two weeks. Angus and Polly.

Missed opportunity for us but a very good rental choice for a family

The property was generally very pleasing and in a good location. We had to cut our stay short because of an emergency operation that was required for me and so unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the property or local area fully. The host was very attentive to this and I found her responsive overall. Good features were the pool and surrounding area, bathrooms, size of bedrooms and open plan lounge area. I think the property could benefit from a rethink of the kitchen layout, a patio and covered outside area and more storage for clothes in the bedrooms. Additionally a larger fridge freezer should be considered. Otherwise, it represented a good value rental and we were only sorry to not be able to enjoy it to the fullest because of our own personal circumstances.

Nous avons passé un excellent week-end dans cette magnifique maison avec piscine. Le cadre est très agréable, la maison est confortable, propre et parfaitement équipée. La piscine a été un vrai plus pour profiter pleinement du séjour et se détendre.Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le calme, l’espace et l’ambiance conviviale des lieux. Ce gîte était un vrai bonheur! Supersympa, authentique, très agréable piscine. À l’intérieur, la cuisine est très bien équipée, rien n’y manque pour préparer des bons repas.Les propriétaires habitent à côté et sont très gentils, ouverts et accessibles pour demander quoi que ce soit. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans cet endroit, qui est un très bon point de départ pour visiter les incontournables du Pays de la Loire en plus.

Gite Freval provided us with everything we needed for a rural retreat, very quiet location, no neighbours, lovely pool that was very much needed as temperatures soared. Furnished rustically - just what we wanted for a typical and traditional gite. We travelled around, all the beautiful towns were within 30 minutes. The only struggle we had was trying to book a taxi, but the owners were away for the week so may not have been a problem had they been there. Would recommend

Merveilleux moment passé entre amis. Nous nous sommes sentis comme à la maison, le cadre en plus : grande piscine, terrain de pétanque (avec les boules), salon de jardin, tables de pique-nique, jeux de société, etc. La cuisine est bien équipée et le barbecue extérieur a permis de cuire à merveille notre entrecôte. L'endroit est propre et très bien entretenu. Grandes surfaces et commerces à 5-10min Je recommande cette adresse, vous y serez très bien reçus, autant par l’hôte que par les prestations proposées.

Excellent Week End en pleine nature

Avons passé un we en famille dans un magnifique cadre champêtre. Grande bâtisse, très bien équipée pour 6 personnes , Avons apprécié la grande piscine, seul regret le soleil n'était pas vraiment au rdv. Echange très convivial avec les propriétaires. Je recommande pour passer un séjour au calme, dans la nature ... avec tout le confort.

Bonjour nous avons passé un très bon séjour. Dommage que la piscine n'était pas accessible ( pas communiqué sur l'annonce).

Effectivement, la piscine extérieure est chauffée de mai à septembre et nous comprenons votre déception de ne pas avoir pu l'utiliser en cette fin du mois de mars.
