Perfect cabin and location

This was the perfect secluded location and cabin. It was very cozy and clean. The only thing that could have made it better would be screens in the windows for some fresh mountain air. We have been to Alpine Lake many times and, although all the places we stayed were great, this by far was our favorite. We will definitely be returning to The Red Fox.

We would definitely stay here again. The house is nice and quiet, and the resort is really nice. We had 2 very minor issues. The ceiling light in the upstairs bathroom was out. There is also a minor leak near the back door. Neither we’re important enough to contact anyone.

Winter Getaway

Our family had an amazing time! We have family in the area and this was close enough to everything but far enough away to give us time to reset and spend quality time together. The kids enjoyed sledding on the large hill at the lodge and there were many board games played around the large dining room table. During our next trip we will definitely book again.

We enjoyed our stay at The Red Fox. There were a couple of issues, and they were taken care very quickly by the host, which we really appreciated. We will return.

Very nice cabin.

We had a wonderful stay. The "host" was very prompt in answering any and all questions. My only recommendation would be screens on the windows to let in the cool mountain air, and to release the closed up smell of the cabin. Other than that, everything was perfect.

I emailed the owner a week before my arrival to ask about fishing. She responded back to me and stated she had to ask the property manager and get back to me but unfortunately she did not get back to me. The house was nice but dirty. Everything was very sticky in the house. The outside furniture cushions were very nasty, the upstairs bathroom shower did not have a liner on it, the ad says that the coffee pot doesn’t need filters but that was a lie. We really liked alpine lake and would go back but just not to this house.

Passive-Aggressive Host

Disappointing! First, the host was rude to a family member upon arrival when she had difficulty working the broken screen door latch. Then when we entered, we were saddened to see a poorly cleaned cabin. We had to sweep the porch and the curtains in kitchen area were splattered with either sauce or blood. or something ...GROSS! Later, I dropped my keys by the bed and was shocked to see candy wrappers and a thick layer of dust under the bed. The most disappointing part of the stay was related to the gas tank for the firepit running empty the first night. It took multiple texts for the host to finally have a new tank delivered (the second night) and then host appeared to "retaliate" for having to deliver a new tank by adding two additional charges for "cleaning" on top of the posted cleaning charge. I've rented numerous properties and have NEVER been charged an additional cleaning charge as I believe in the philosophy of returning things in the same condition that you received them.

Guest is upsthe guest was mad that we had to charge for new towels. The guest left the home discussions. Towels were black (and 90% of the towels were brand new. we charged $30 for new towels - wish I could leave photos with this answer. The guest had a (friend or family member) (not even the one who booked) arrive hours before check in and asked if the cleaning crew would let her in early because she had to go to the bathroom! Our policy is no early arrivals and you have to be the one with the rental, but she had a photo text of check-in instructions - but insisted she had to go to the bathroom - so of course she went in earlier that the cabin was ready. The screen door was not broken, never was and is not - actually we don't even have a screen door ????propane is included with the stay - had nothing to do with additional charges.BUT PAY YOU BILL! - VRBO is having to open a claim NO blood was splattered, no sauce was splattered, if you look at the curtains - the red dots are the pattern.Funny how she sent me a text, best vacation ever when they checked out and never mentioned the above until we sent her a bill for the disgusting towels they left behind that were in-bleachable.wish I could add the photos et becaseu the damage and

Nice decor, falls short on cleanliness

We had 6 people stay in Red Fox. My sister, brother-in-law, my husband, two nieces and myself. The décor is just as in the pictures. The cabin was redone with nice touches. The firepit outside was great, kitchen was nicely redone, the dining room table was awesome and the location was perfect for us. But..... The house was not clean. The downstairs bathroom had mold in the shower and the toilet had not been cleaned prior to our arrival, it had little black spots (mold or mildew?) above the water line. There was a plastic grocery bag and dryer lint on the bookshelves by the dining room table, which tells us that area was not cleaned. Some other issues with the house is none of the bedrooms have dressers, so there is no way to unpack. There is only one TV in the living room, and the upstairs bathroom did not have a shower only a bathtub which we should have noticed prior to booking, so if you like to unpack, need two full bathrooms, and want more than one TV this is probably not the place for you. Another thing to watch for when booking this property is most of the windows do not have screens, so there is no way to leave the windows open unless you want bugs. We stayed in September, and it was a little warm and with only one mini-split in the living area, the bedrooms were a little warm. The ceiling fan upstairs only worked with the light on so you couldn't have the fan going at night. The owner said she would send someone over to fix that, but we never saw anyone and the issue was not fixed. Overall, we were disappointed, but the house was probably better than some of the other rentals at Alpine Lake and much better than the lodge.

we are very sorry this rental was not for this renter that was in to visit family at a local rehab we had to block this renter from all the future rentals in ALVAS, (unknown about the cleaning, we do check it and it passed prior to check in) we offered to resend a cleaning lady and she denied (so we had no way of verifying what she said) - she didn't mention anything about not being clean until 6 hours after she checked in. The cabin does not have screens, we have heat and AC and we are located in the woods. The other issues she mentions all in the photos and listing when she booked - we have one TV - we do not provide a TV in the bedrooms, we do not offer dressers, but do have luggage racks which are prefered as to the recent aribb/vrbo survey. Battery was dead in the ceiling fan light - and she is lying once again - our maintenance worker came out and changed the battery for her and showed her how to run the dishwasher which she did not know how too. She was definitely pushing for a refund of some kind - owner beware before you rent

Cozy Winter Retreat

Loved our stay at The Red Fox! We cooked a lot and the kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were super comfy and cozy. The house is really tucked back in Alpine Lake, so we barely saw anyone during our week stay in mid-November.

Nice Getaway in the Woods

This renovated cabin is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. The decor and furnishings set the stage for a wonderful retreat. There wasn't much that we wished was different. The owner's communication was always timely and helpful. Just be advised this property is fairly far back in the Alpine Lake development (which has one guarded entrance and is semi-remote as it is), so don't expect to get anywhere fast if you want to venture out. However, if solitude is your thing, this is a great option as the nearest neighbors are unseen and there's virtually no traffic on the street.

Quiet and beautiful

We needed a place to stay over the weekend when we went up for a friends wedding. It was a great place for us to gather and share time together. The beds were comfortable and the amenities were great. And the cost was very reasonable.

The fox residence

We loved our stay at this over the top cute place. Sheri thought of everything. The place was immaculate. Best mattresses ever! The attention to detail in the decor, the quality of everything was over the top! It is in a very quiet neighborhood and there is a lovely small lake that you could walk to. It could not have been more perfect. We loved our stay.
