NEWLY RENOVATED! Welcome to Surf's Up!! OCEANFRONT, Sleeps 10.

PLEASE NOTE: During high summer months only full week rentals are available Sunday to Sunday.
(High summer is first Sunday in June through mid- August).

Surf's Up is a beautiful oceanfront 3-story 1900 sq ft duplex tucked in the middle of Flora's Bluff on Bald Head Island. The main home consists of 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and there is a separate 1 bedroom and 1 bath 'crofter.'
The beach is right across the cul-de-sac with access through a public walkway. Everyone can congregate around the kitchen bar, large dining room table or relax on the comfortable sofas and watch some television. The kitchen is fully equipped with enough utensils, cookware and dishes to make you feel right at home. A large screened in porch with plenty of seating is the perfect spot to relax and feel the ocean breeze.
On the second floor, you will find the master bedroom with a king sized bed, private bath and a private oceanfront balcony. Just down the hallway is a queen sized bed with a shared bathroom. The upstairs has even more accommodations with another queen bed and two twin beds. A fourth bedroom located in the separate guest house called a 'crofter' is the perfect spot for guest(s) that want a little more privacy. With a queen bed and a private bath, your guests can come and go without disturbing anyone in the main house.

Great Stay

Great place to stay on Bald Head Island! Located right across from the b Beach access. And close to the grocery store on the island. We really enjoyed the cottage.

Fantastic spot on the island!

We were on bald head island for a wedding and this house was in a perfect spot! The owners were extremely friendly and provided us with a ton of information to ensure we had a fantastic weekend! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Great home!

Lovely house to rent. The owner was so easy to reach and responsive. The location of the house is great - we could not have enjoyed our stay any more than we did. Definitely recommend this house.

We had a great experience staying here this month. The hosts were very responsive and kind. Wonderfully renovated house and crofter. Excellent housewares, linens, supplies, golfcarts. Can’t beat the location, steps to the beach.

Lovely stay at Surf's Up

Our family spent a recent week at Surf's Up and had a blast! The unit is well maintained and equipped. We do a lot of cooking and grilling and we had everything we needed. The screen porch is excellent--we ate outside for almost every meal. Beach access is superb. Carts were in great shape. This is our favorite neighborhood on BHI.

Great stay! Beautiful property, views, and location.

This is not a single dwelling, but rather a split two unit structure. Has privacy to entrance and crofter. Incredible upgrades, feels so much larger and luxurious In person! Beds comfortable, and rooms spacious, spread out over three floors! Great communication and ease of check in & out!

Surf’s Up

Our stay was awesome. Perfect house, great beach, relaxing porch, and couldn’t ask for more. Fun on the beach, the splash pad and pool at the BHI Club, and good food. The sunsets were magnificent but did not see any sunrises (sleeping late)! Golf cart rides were fun and saw some deer on our late afternoon adventures. Highly recommend.

Great experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Surfs Up! The location is perfect--right next to the beach and a short golf cart ride to the grocery store, Mike's bites, and BHI club. The property is nicely updated. It was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The host was very responsive. The property is a duplex but seems to be well insulated as we didn't hear any noise from the other unit. I would highly recommend this property. We would love to stay here again!

Amazing Beach House

I can’t say enough good things about this house. I highly recommend booking it. The communication with the owner was easy and one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had with VRBO owners. You aren’t dealing with some property manager, you are dealing with the owner who is so nice. The house is recently renovated and really well done. Kitchen is well stocked and layout is perfect for families. The golf carts are in great condition and plenty of beach chairs and towels. It’s just off the beach and the views are great as well. We look forward to returning again soon.

The owner mentioned upon arrival they are remodeling in the winter. That will be great because cosmetic issues like caulking around kitchen sink and bathtubs, peeling paint on ceilings and a few other things are definitely needed that pictures did not reflect. The house is in an absolutely great location, kitchen was well stocked, porch was wonderful. Beds were fine and golf carts were dependable. We had an issue with the fridge and the owner was on it very quickly and resolved it for us. I felt like she helped me each time I contacted her. My biggest issue was feeling like it wasn't up to my cleanliness standards. I am not referring to the linens or towels, the bedding was pretty and clean, it is just time for a remodel job which they already know. The washer dryer area was dirty. I guess I need to lower my expectations a little bit for a rental property. I was wishing for something a bit cleaner. Overall we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay on the island, the location is perfect.

Another great week on BHI!

Surf's Up is in a great location, very comfortable downstairs living area with screened in porch with seating area and a table that catches a nice breeze in the morning - had breakfast there every morning and a few dinners out there as well. There's an upstairs balcony off the master bedroom that has a great ocean view. My son really enjoyed the unattached extra room out back, with it's own bathroom, a private retreat. The overall house layout is vertical. The bedrooms are nice, spacious, comfortable, but they are all upstairs on the second or third floor so you need to be able to negotiate stairs. There's a 1/2 bathroom on the main floor downstairs, a double bathroom off the master bedroom on the second floor, and a standard bathroom next to the second bedroom on the second floor that is shared by whoever is on the third floor. We didn't realize until we got there that the building is actually a duplex, but we heard nothing from the neighbors who shared the adjacent unit (we did meet them, they were very nice). There was lots of beach equipment, including beach chairs in very good condition and a beach umbrella. The golf carts were fine - not the extra slow ones we have sometimes had. There's easy access to the south beach via a boardwalk. Very important to us was communication with Karen, who we texted several times during our stay and who answered any questions we had within just a few minutes! Not accustomed to that! Highly recommend this Vrbo!

Bald Head

Mixed experience. The good: Grateful to have this house as an option in this price range on Bald Head. The beds were comfortable and clean. The coffee pot was missing and when I reached out to owner, she had someone bring a new coffee pot within an hour. The house is decorated nicely. Across street from beach with views from master bedroom. The not so great: Messaged owner through VRBO two days prior to checkin to inquire about checkin process. The morning of checkin I still had not heard back and messaged them again with no response. So I had to contact VRBO to help me get in contact with owner. (Experience with VRBO customer service was fantastic). They couldn’t get through to owner at first but finally made contact with owner and she explained she had a medical procedure and got behind, so this may be a one off but nevertheless the experience gave us anxiety that something happened to our reservation. Once we got her phone number, communication was no longer an issue. I think they spray all the patio furniture during the cleaning process which left all the cushions wet but I suppose it’s nice to have them cleaned- you just won’t be able to use first day or so. The fridge/freezer had a terrible fish smell. I’m sure this was due to previous renters but maybe fridge needed a thorough disinfectant cleaning to rid of smell (not just a baking soda box). We ran out of toilet paper and when I requested more, owner told me they only supply first roll. However, it wasn’t even a full roll when we checked in, it was only 1/4 full. If this is the rule they follow, they should leave the partial roll but also leave a full unused roll for guests. It seems petty not to provide a full roll when you pay almost $2000 for 3 nights. Two golf carts provide were good to have. One golf cart is slower and brakes funky. You have to be sure to park the golf carts on the correct side as chargers go with specific golf cart. This was noted on a piece of tape on the wall of garage. It would be nice to have this communicated in either a message or in a binder in the house of useful info so it is not missed. Also of note, this is a townhouse, not a house. It shares a wall with another unit. We didn’t have any issues with the neighbors but just was not expecting it as it is not noted in listing.

weekend stay

Our first time to bald head island. This place is great. You can see the ocean from the porch. Beds are so comfortable. Looking forward to planning another trip to bald head.

Lovely location

Surf's Up was a good option for us. Appreciated the close beach access. Beach chairs and beach towels provided were very helpful. Upon arrival the property had not been cleaned so that was disappointing as we were prepared to jump into vacation mode, prepare our family dinner and have a glass of wine. Property manager was very responsive and had cleaning team return but they didn't arrive until 8:45 and didn't leave until 10:45. We couldn't unpack as we wanted them to be able to clean kitchen, rooms etc. I'm sure this isn't the norm and our cleaning fee was refunded due to the delay. The screen on the porch was repaired promptly as it had significant tears from the storm. The golf carts worked well. Once we got unpacked and settled the next day our stay was lovely. The weather was beautiful. This is a quiet place off season which was absolutely perfect for us but not the place if you're looking for lots of action. All in all a great visit.
