Welcome to the Cottage in the Woods. This beautiful all one level home in the heart of Hatfield with a modern rustic charm. The house includes 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, Kitchen, Dining Room, an open Living Area with a fireplace and a game room. Master Bedroom has a luxurious private bath and each bedroom is uniquely designed. Property has access right from the driveway to the ATV/SnowMobile trails and just a short mile to Lake Arbutus for beach and fishing fun!

The space
You and your family, guests or group will have a great time here! Its a wooden wonderland, where the deer often walk across the lawn behind the house. The house sits quietly among the forested area only 10 miles off Interstate I-94. The house is located in the heart of Hatfield, where you can buy supplies, rent boats, snow
Mobile, ATV’s and jet skis. Check Webbs

Just 20 minutes away is the larger town of Black River Falls ( population 15,000). Black River Falls has many shopping areas.

You and your family, guests, and group will have a great time here. It is an unbelievable place in summer and fall, as well as year round! The fall foliage is breathtaking and the lake has amazing fishing opportunities. The winter months it is a winter wonderland. Enjoy the ATV trails most of the year and even snowmobiling through the winter months. The trails are closed October 15- December 15th for hunting, and March 15-May 15 for Spring thaw. However during these times there is hiking, snowshoeing, ice fishing, hunting. Try you luck at the local Ho-Chunk Casino. Also try your ski skills at the Bruce Mound Winter Sports Area. Another popular area is Wazee Lake recreation area, known for its fresh water diving and underwater forest. East Fork Black River Natural Forest area, known for over 100 miles of trails and sightseeing. This is the perfect place to get away year round and to just unplug! Hatfield has 5 different bars/restaurants, and several markets on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. The best pizza in the area is found at The Mug, which also hosts Taco Tuesday with taco pizza and taco bar. The Stones Throw has the best Friday fish fry for miles!

Lake Arbutus which is a mile away, has a dock and boat ramp. The beachy park also offers grills, tables and shelters. The 160’ shoreline has a 30 -foot sand and pebble beach, and swimming is great as the lake bed is pebbles and sand.

Please use caution and common sense when swimming, boating, or using the house and grounds. Children should always be supervised, and wear flotation devices when swimming or boating. Be responsible and enjoy Wisconsin!

We have a queen futon sofa in living room and 3 airbeds available.

Great Location

We very much enjoyed our stay at Cottage in the Woods. The home was beautiful and comfortable. The cottage had everything we needed and more. It was decorated beautifully with animal mounts and antiques, and up-to-date appliances. It was very clean. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and around the firepit. It was a perfect location for getting to trails right from the cottage. We were able to use the garage for our side-by-sides which we really appreciated. Good trails to ride on, and the trees had some color. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We won't hesitate to rent this nice home again!

Great house and location

This is our second time staying at this home. We have an annual UTV trip and this house has it all! Great location close to the trails and the house is equipped with everything you need! Highly recommend staying here!

Gorgeous House - Fantastic Location

This was our 6th year coming up with a group of 3 families. This house was laid out perfectly and the owners were fantastic to work with. They checked in with us half way through the stay and we have zero complaints! I was concerned with the Arbutus rentals right next door of being overrun with people, but it was a very quiet area and trail access for ATV/UTV rides was perfect. We already have 2025 booked!

Amazing home

We were in town for a Sporting Clay tournament and I wished I could have taken more advantage of what this home offered. This was a warm welcoming home, not just any generic vacation rental. We would not change a thing! The taxidermy animals were one of the highlights of the stay! The host was amazing and we really appreciate them opening their home to travelers. It was extremely comfortable.

Fun visit

This house is exactly as advertised - really nice place with lots to do inside and nearby. We had a great time. The owners made everything very easy and answered all of our questions. We would definitely come back.

Family Christmas

We highly recommend this property for any family or friend gathering. Our family of 6 adults and 3 young grandchildren met there for a few nights before Christmas. A perfect midway location between our homes in WI and MN. It was very clean, cozy and fully outfitted for everything we needed. The game room was such a great amenity that I never imagined would be so much fun. The huge assortment of taxidermy mounts was an added activity to identify and research more about these animals. We hope to return next year.

Excellent place to stay

We were totally happy with everything about our stay. Maybe could use a lamp in the back bedroom, otherwise it’s just a bright light. Place is better than we expected!! We will be staying again!! Hopefully I can stay with my grandkids next year!!

Great vacation

We were amazed at all that was included in our rental. My daughters and their husbands particularly enjoyed the stand-up paddle board. My granddaughters used the sand toys and looked forward to nightly fires in the firepit. Every possible appliance was provided and the game room was a real hit.

Annual Family Peaceful Getaway.

We have been coming to Hatfield area for the past 4 years! The lake is beautiful and the Cottage in the woods is a beautiful home that has plenty of room for our family and some friends that come to celebrate our son every year. This is our 2nd stay and Shey and Sarah are always right there whenever we reach out to them. We always seem to have rainy days when we are there but no worries since the house is furnished with a fantastic game room and board games. This year we had a trouble game show down. My 6 year old grandson thinks it is great when he beats the adults! The fire pit area is amazing and there is plenty of seating and is great to sit around while you drink your morning coffee! This year besides the kayaks there was a few new additions like a paddle board! My adult children loved that! We love the cottage and will be back for sure next year! Thank you for another wonderful year in Hatfield! Barb

Sarah and Shey were amazing to work with. We did have trouble getting in, but Sarah was on top of it 100% we were in super fast. The location was amazing! We had 5 couples staying to ride UTV trails. We had a BLAST! The house was equipped with everything you would need and more. Our only disappointment was that it wasn't available for the time we planned to come back to the trails. BUT Sarah sent me the link to their other property on a whole new trail system we have yet to explore. They were so amazing, we will definitely stay in their rentals over and over again! Thank you so much Shey and Sarah we appreciate the work you put into your beautiful space and how responsive you were to our messages.

Wonderful property! Excellent hosts!

This was our second time staying here. This property has such a cozy, cabin feeling! We loved celebrating our holiday here. Very clean and nicely decorated. The game room is a nice plus! We hope to be back again!
