The wrap-around porch provides breathtaking views of the Great Smokey Mountains making it the perfect place to sip your morning coffee or evening wine. Above the Clouds is great for entertaining a couples' retreat or friends' getaway, as this home offers the option for both sharing space and having privacy.

Venture indoors to find a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, and two living areas. With living areas both upstairs and downstairs, you'll have ample space for kids and adults to enjoy separate entertainment with high speed Internet service. This adorable four bed, three bath home sleeps twelve in true mountain style. Each comfortable bed features a unique quilt personally made by the owner so you can cozy up and sleep soundly.

At Above the Clouds, your furry friends are not only welcome, but are given their own amenities! The fully fenced yard and large, fenced kennel will give your dogs a mountain experience of their own!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The host was very accommodating to several last minute changes (we decided last minute to bring our dogs), and was a pleasure to work with. Responses were timely, the checkin process was extremely easy, and the step by step directions to the driveway were spot on! The home was a perfect and convenient stay for our visit to the Sylva/Cullowhee area. The views were amazing, and sitting on the porch watching sunrise with a hot cup of coffee is not to be missed! Our labs LOVED the outdoor area.

Above the clouds was a very welcoming house with a warm cozy feel. The only thing we weren't too fond of is the waterbed type mattress is the main bedroom. It was more on the uncomfortable side.

Bug Bite Problem

We had six guests staying at the “Above the Clouds” property from October 23 (check-in) to October 27 (check-out). Four of us who slept in the three bedrooms on the main floor experienced multiple bug bites, while the two guests who stayed in the basement bedroom did not. I will send photos of the bug bites to Sun Dog Vacation Rentals via email for your reference. Due to the health concerns caused by this issue, we request that Sun Dog Vacation Rentals work with the property owner to immediately address the bug infestation and take proper remedial action. We also ask that the company provide a partial refund for the affected stay. We look forward to your prompt response and resolution. Best regards, Jim

The property management company was great. Quick responses, clear communication, flexibility on check in. The house itself wasn’t as clean as I come to expect from rentals. Someone had recently stayed with a cat and the fur in the house set off a cat allergy immediately from a guest in our party. Loved the fenced yard though; that was very convenient. The mattresses / waterbed in primary bedroom all seemed to force you to the middle.

Great location for fun activities like rafting and access to nice local sites. Lots of space at the house with scenic views of mountains and beautiful fall foliage. Our dog lived the freedom to run around in the fenced in yard!

Beautiful Dog Friendly Home

We had a wonderful time on our family vacation at this home! It is in the perfect location close to hiking trails and city life so you can do whatever you want. The house is very dog friendly with a nice fenced in yard and porch. The only con is the driveway because of the potholes at the entrance but don't let that steer you away! This house was perfect for our family of six and we had plenty of room even with the dog! Thanks again to the owners for letting us stay in their beautiful home!

Family Ski trip

The property was pleasantly clean and had everything we needed. It was close enough to restaurants and grocery stores. It was a short drive to Maggie Valley for skiing and snow tubing. Views we beautiful and the drive up the mountain was easy. I'm a very cold natured person, and the master was a drafty, but I was glad they had plenty of blankets for our snowy stay.

Super Break in the BEAUTIFUL Mountains

The property is spacious yet cozy. Lots of space for gathering and getting caught up. The appliances and kitchen “kit” were very top drawer. We like to cook and this was a big plus. We loved the easy access to downtown Sylva and the Nantahala trout fishing. The pottery, glassware, and quilts were a lovely icing on a pretty place!

House stocked with every thing you could need. You can immediately tell that the owners have invested in making this home clean and cozy. Amazing!!

This is probably the best Vacation Home we have stayed in. The location is perfect and an easy drive. The home is gorgeous. Hands down the most pet friendly home we have stayed in! The kitchen is incredibly well stocked!! The yard is amazing and this whole home is kid welcoming. There isn’t a single thing to not love about this home!! The quilts were gorgeous. Take the time to appreciate them!

Great spot for dogs!

A group of friends and I rented a house for the weekend to explore the surrounding areas. It was perfect. My dogs loved being able to run around freely in the fenced yard and super enjoyed the dog blankets provided for them. Also haven’t slept on a water bed since the early 2000s and it was a huge hit with everyone. Would definitely rent again for a large group.

we loved the house. it was very, convenient location, with all the conveniences of home. The house was very clean and well-appointed. We had some issues figuring out the thermostat, but it didn't present a major problem. We would love to return next year.
