Immerse yourself in river sports, lake activities, wilderness hikes, or simply connect with our ranch's equine residents. Connect with friend and family with three distinct living areas for 12 people (expandable to 15 with camp beds). Enjoy a generously stocked kitchen, an all-natural cedar hot tub, and the company of horses in the fields and views of two mountain ranges.
This listing combines the three separate living areas. The main house has two wings, the Mountain View side connected through a corridor and closable door is Meadowlands Cottage. A few hundred yards away is the Shiny Spartan.
Mountain View: 2 bedroom two story log cabin originally built in 1890’s
Sleeps a total of 6
This charming house exudes authenticity, with its log cabin walls and a stacked stone fireplace. The heart of the home is the spacious KITCHEN, thoughtfully equipped with modern electric appliances for your convenience. It caters to cooking enthusiasts with a well-stocked selection of spices, herbs, serving platters, and specialized tools like citrus reamers or simple cork screws.
Outside the kitchen, a private red brick patio entry area. dine outside under ten thousand stars, a round Moroccan tile table with seating for four. A charcoal grill is also available on this front deck.
Upstairs, the MAIN BEDROOM offers a comfortable queen bed and a cozy sitting area with a TV. The windows frame views of the front garden, majestic shade trees, and the eastern mountains in the changing light.
The SECOND BEDROOM, divided by the stairs, has a full bed on one side and a twin bed that can transform into a small sofa on the other.
The LIVING ROOM, generously-sized and designed for family gatherings, centers around the wood-burning fireplace, making it an ideal spot for board games and cozy evenings. On the opposite end of the room is another seating area beneath the window, great for the weekends puzzle or peaceful reading nook. three sofas to lounge on when enjoying family movie nights on the large TV.
We provide endless firewood for the cold nights, cut from the many shade trees on the ranch. There are very effective evaporation coolers that keep the house cool on the very hottest of days in the summer. The heating and cooling, sourced from a local hydroelectric turbine, aligns with our commitment to sustainability.
We have two work desks and excellent WiFi for zooming to work while you relax in the mountains with us.
Meadowlands Cottage: One bedroom bungalow attached to the Mountain View though a corridor off the kitchen.
Sleeps a total of 6
In the MAIN BEDROOM views of sequoia trees flood in very large windows from the meadows. The room has a comfortable queen-sized bed and an attached ensuite bathroom. Nestled in the corner is a built-in bunk bed, curtained for privacy, with a large wall-mounted TV—ideal for accommodating little ones of or enjoying some private TV time.
The BATHROOM has patterned tile flooring, a curtained walk-in shower, and an exposed vaulted ceiling with two doors, one from the bedroom, another from the hall to the rest of the house.
The snug DEN, serving as the second bedroom or living room has super comfortable twin beds and a spacious sitting area with a large TV. For chilly winter evenings, a potbellied stove stands ready in the corner to provide warmth and comfort with plenty of firewood from the ranch wood pile.
At the heart of the house is the KITCHENETTE, equipped with a large counter, electric stove top, two mini fridges, a toaster oven, microwave, sink, and laundry facilities.
Our 15 acres of park-like GROUNDS are divided into two distinct zones. The initial 5 acres, located above the meandering seasonal river (not currently flowing) that gracefully flows through the ranch. Shaded by huge majestic shade trees, our all-natural cedar hot tub, thrilling zip line, and rustic barns.
The lower area is tranquil meadows, ample space for our horses to frolic and graze; a harmonious blend of natural beauty and ranch adventures. This is a working ranch and we have horses and the mules in the meadows. Part of a worthy charity, One Spade Youth Packer; that helps disadvantaged young people with leadership mentoring and learning back country skills and mule packing.
All photos capture our scenic 15-acre Kernville ranch, a brief stroll from town, nestled at the gateway to vast wilderness, perfect for rafting and mountain adventures. Experience the best of both worlds: ample space for family and friends to bond while enjoying privacy and natural beauty.

My husband and I love Kernville Ranch. We have both been involved in horses and hospitality for over 20 year. My husband manages a Dude Ranch in Los Angeles and I am managing the rental business up here in the Kern River Valley. I won a Hero Award for hosting vacation rentals in 2014. I take my role as your host very seriously. I am also a painter and a mum. I hope that you have a wonderful time making memories here that will last a lifetime.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Kernville Ranch is beautiful. We are very grateful to be able to share our love of the ranch, the town and the wilderness with you. Nestled in the water meadows and originally a dairy, Kernville Ranch is just a 10 minuet walk from the center of Kernville. Plenty of fishing and white water rafting, hiking and hot springs and snow play. Explore the lake for water-sports, the high country for pristine wilderness and a little snow. The town is full of restaurants, antiques stores, and a wonderful museum, rich with snippets of history heritage of this Wild West town.
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
We are at the base of the immense wilderness of the Sequoia National Forest, next to the Kern River and Lake Isabella. The area is renowned for hiking, fishing, river rafting and wilderness experiences abound. We are also just a 10 minuet walk to the town with all the modern conveniences of restaurants and shops, banks and such.
We have a river that runs on the property (April through December). The swimming hole in the summer is a lovely natural playground. Catch frogs, watch the herons and osprey, maybe say “Hi” to the barn owl or the badger by the gate. Enjoy the snow and little ski resort just 15 minutes up the hill.
Adventures abound on Kernville Ranch.
