The bad reviews aren’t wrong, but it’s also a rustic fishing camp in the woods so you kinda need to base your expectations around that. The cabin could be a little cleaner and kept up better, but we still had a great time! Fridge, stove, and sink with running water is enough to get by. We brought all the things we usually have tent camping and had no issues. We did see the mouse once and then it stayed hidden. If we needed a place to stay and fish but didn’t want to get soaked in a tent, we’d stay here again. Pro tip: bring your favorite candle and the cabin won’t smell bad :)

Always a pleasure

We always have the best time here. The location is the absolutely best and the cabin is what you should expect for the very very reasonable price. I have stayed here maybe 5-6 times now, with kids & with friend and it never disappoints.

Proximity to the creek is perfect and the central location to all the fishing areas is great. Nice to grill out and listen to the water bubbling.

Blakley Hobbit small cabin

It’s perfect for one or two ppl that are in the area for hiking or fishing and don’t want to camp. It has everything you need and is right on the river. Incredibly peaceful stay, 15 min from Viroqua or Kickapoo Valley Reserve. It’s a great location right outside of Viola.

I STRONGLY recommend you DO NOT BOOK!!!! We were given an address which did NOT match the description posted online!!!!!! We must have been given a different cabin. I was able to contact the host to check to see if a late check-in was ok. I received a quick response. I tried to reach the host several times after seeing the cabin provided didn’t match the description. There was NO response!! I wanted to settle this offline but did not have any response from the host after several attempts. The bedroom was located up an outside stairway. We opened the door and saw several beds lined up. NOT matching the photos on the description. We ended up driving 30 miles to find a hotel for the evening! I repeat! DO NOT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!

Rustic cabin

We only stayed one night while visiting friends just down the road. It met our needs for the short time we were there but wouldn’t want to stay too much longer with no inside toilet or hot water. Otherwise, a quaint little cabin.Checking in ended up being super easy since everything was open and air conditioning was on but there was no communication prior to arriving. Didn’t end up being a problem.

Small, not fit for two people, photo was misleading, hard to find. Don’t advertise as a hobbit house. Couldn’t get hold of the owners. Sorry you guys, not any where near what advertised. Sorry.

Cute little cabin!

We found this cabin after a last minute search for a rental after finding out a wedding we were attending was farther from home than we thought, and I am so glad that we found this cabin! It’s the perfect size for 2 people and a dog! The view of the river from the porch is absolutely stunning, especially during fall when all the leafs on the trees were turning beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow! The manager is great at communicating and was so accommodating when we needed a little bit of an early check in to make it to the wedding on time as well! 10/10 I’d definitely recommend this cute little cabin to anyone thinking of booking it!

Relaxed in Nature

Had a nice relaxing weekend in nature. The property overlooks a bubbling stream so the scenery was amazing!My only downside was that I had hoped it was a bit more remote/private, but there are other cabins not far away (maybe 200-ish feet?) Not a biggie if you don't mind the company though. :)Regardless; wonderful stay! Host made things simple/left instruction that were clear/easy to follow. Got a burger from the recommended spot and it was awesome! Cabin was adorable and again, overlooking the bubbling creek was lovely. Thank you!!!

Great location but not overly comfortable

This location was beautiful, the river was lovely to watch and the deck and picnic table were great. However - porta potty was clearly not emptied regularly as it was VERY full and smelled awful. You could smell it over the bonfire smoke and in the cabin itself. Cabin wasn't very clean and sheets were rough and the bed was an older mattress on lift floor. The inclusion of a box fan was really helpful.

Cabin smaller than expected. No cookware to use gas stove. Except stove didnt work at all anyway. Mouse turds everywhere. Huge mouse nest inside oven.

Good budget option when traveling with a doggo

It's not super well-maintained or clean, but not awful if it go into with with clear expectations. What wasn't great was the lack of thoughtful amenities stocking. Examples- cheap bedding, and no extra in the event it was a chilly night. Pull out mattress SUPER uncomfortable. Dish soap nearly empty. No hand sanitizer in porta pot. Crappy scratched up frying pan. No matches or lighter (fire pit outside). No communication before, during or after stay with host.

One night visit.

There was a mix up with the cabin I rented. There was another party at the same time which ended up being ok. I was able to check in earlier than I could. However, when I got into the cabin there was mouse droppings, and cobwebs. I had to clean even before I could get comfortable. I brought an air mattress to sleep on alot easier than having to go up a ladder. As soon as you step outside I smelt what I thought was just the water, I was wrong, it was the garbage dumpster not too far away. It was adequate for one night.
