Thank you for staying with us again. I'm genuinely sorry that your second visit was so different from your first. The disturbance described in this review originated on neighboring private property and was entirely outside of our control. The cabin itself was accurately represented, fully available for the duration of the reservation, and there were no issues with the property or the accommodations. After hearing your concerns, I looked into the situation and learned that the neighboring property was lawfully engaging in recreational target shooting on their own property. During our ten years of hosting, this is the first guest to report feeling unsafe due to neighboring activity. While occasional lawful target shooting is not uncommon in our rural area, it has not previously affected our guests' stays. This review states that guests’ lives were placed in danger. However, nothing reported to me or to authorities indicated that anyone was shooting toward the cabin or engaging in unsafe conduct directed at our property. The concern stemmed from noise caused by target shooting and 4th of July celebrations on neighboring land, which understandably made you and your dogs uncomfortable, but it did not involve any incident on the rental property itself. Had there been any indication that gunfire was being directed toward the cabin and lives were in danger, I would have fully supported contacting local authorities immediately. When you chose to depart one night early, I was sympathetic to your disappointment. However, because the property remained available, was as described, and the neighboring activity was outside my control, I was not able to provide a refund for the unused night. We understand that rural settings offer a different experience than suburban or urban areas, and neighboring properties may occasionally engage in lawful activities that are typical of the countryside. We remain committed to providing a clean, well-maintained cabin, accurate listing information, and responsive communication, as reflected in the experiences of many other guests over the years.
