Cozy retreat on TWO Lakes for the price of one! 4 beds 3 baths + sauna

Southcastle Cabin is on a very special, coveted lot in the northeast corner of Big Pine Lake in Aitkin County, Minnesota. The lakefront property features 132 feet of waterfront access to Big Pine Lake (635-acre, 78-foot deep, with public boat launch) in the front, plus access to Black Lake (60-foot deep, private) in the back. Both lakes are fishable and have dock access for boats. Big Pine Lake offers superior water clarity and a sandy, rocky bottom while the smaller and more secluded Black Lake is ideal for boating and fishing activities. The three-acre wooded property and adjoining land provides privacy and the opportunity for local exploration.

You will feel perfectly at home in this beautifully renovated cabin with interior views of both lakes at the same time from a cozy, modern living area which includes a master bedroom with private bathroom and two guest bedrooms. Air conditioned in the summer! As a bonus, the finished basement provides plenty of recreational and sleeping space for additional guests and/or children and is listed as the fourth bedroom. You will love the added feature of a sauna in the spacious basement bathroom with walk-in shower.

Included with your stay: A Samsung 4k UHD QLED television in the living room with Roku streaming device, a Sony 1080p FHD television in the finished basement with Roku streaming device, small TV in Master Bedroom and a dedicated wireless broadband Internet connection with the fastest connection speeds available in the area (SCI Broadband, 50+ Mbps). Also a gas-fueled fireplace to warm up the living room on a cold winter night. Bring and connect your own streaming or gaming devices to the spare HDMI ports or log in to your own Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and other digital accounts using Roku guest mode for your "at-home" entertainment experience. A rowboat, paddleboat and recreational kayaks are included with the execution of a waiver/release during the summer season.

Peaceful and beautiful

This is a well-appointed cabin in a unique setting with lakes on both sides of the house. The gas fireplace is convenient. And the house had plenty of heat during our winter vacation.

Weekend ice fishing

It was everything we expected and more! Kitchen was perfe t we had absolutly everything we needed to cook all of our meals. If i needed to get ahold of the host I always got quick responses. House and the area was beautiful!

Weekend Getaway

Very spacious and clean cabin and very well equipped. The location in between the two lakes is great. Caught fish in both lakes. Would definitely recommend and come back.

Wonderful fall getaway

We had a great time! The boys loved being able to fish on the two lakes. They caught a variety of fish off both docks and the rowboat. We enjoyed beautiful fall views of both lakes from the front and back of the cabin. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous cabin!

Location terrific

Views fantastic, two lakes perfect, fishing very good, did not have to use boats, area great, cabin almost perfect, main bathroom cramped, and spiral staircase to lower level challenging. Solitude was outstanding. Host was great. Unusual to find one like this.

The Perfect Quiet Getaway

Our family of five (plus two dogs) absolutely loved our stay at the Southcastle cabin! It was quiet, clean, off the beaten path, on two lakes and had ample space for the kids to play outside and inside. When the weather was windy on one lake, the other lake offered a new opportunity for fun. Highly suggest booking!

Super clean, great location

Everything was very clean, and had such a cozy Northwoods feel. It was a great location for a drive to Crosby, Brainerd or Aitkin. We enjoyed riding our bikes on the quiet, scenic roads. My 6 year old must have gone up and down the driveway 50 times in the week we were there! Appreciated being able to use the paddle boat and kayaks. We hope to return!

Outstanding Property and Location

This home was amazing. It was so clean, homey and had everything you would need in the kitchen, bedroom and bathrooms! Fully loaded. The location on Big Pine Lake was perfect. The lake is so clear with lots of fish for those who love fish fry’s. Took advantage of the paddle boat, kayaks and row boat. The hostess was extremely helpful and gracious. A definite must see and experience VRBO. Hope we can go back next year!!

Pure Joy!

This was our first getaway up North for years. We brought our 2 small dogs and had adult children visit during the week. The cabin has it all and allows room for people to spread out. The kids loved the kayaks and we waded in the water (as it was a bit chilly). You can see water on both sides of the house so on a sunny day the views are breathtaking. The daily sitings of the loons were an added bonus.

Fall weekend

Beautiful view of 2 lakes. The 3 season room was great to sit in when it rained. The ice maker was well used, a nice addition. Should update the restaurant selections in the welcome book. One was no longer in business and need to add the Block North Brew Pub in Aitkin. They have amazing food. A great time was had by all.

Excellent Family Get a way

This was our first trip with our 1 year old and decided we should bring our 3 neices and nephews all under the age of 7. This was the perfect family get a way. Plenty of room to explore and have the kids go from the front of the property to the seclusion of the private lake in the back was the perfect setting for kayaking and paddle boating with the little ones. Protected from the wind and no wakes from boats made it a perfect place to be on the water. The property is gorgeous and feels like you are at your own lake place. Communication and check in was very simple and easy, the hosts were awesome and plan to book another vacation soon.

The owner reached out several times before our travel date which was very helpful as we missed the watercraft waiver but she caught it and so we were able to fill it out in time. It is a beautiful location between two lakes and wherever a person may be in the house the views were fantastic (lots of well-placed windows). The water in Big Pine Lake is bathtub clear so bring your good fishing gear as the fish are not easily fooled. As poor a fisherman as I am I still caught several bass from both lakes - dock fishing was surprisingly productive. Expectations were clearly laid out in both an email and on location which included a helpful list of things to do in the area. We felt like the owners really understood what we were going to need as guests and provided everything proactively including what they needed from us as guests. We had great family time in the kayaks, on the 3 season porch playing boardgames when it rained, watching movies, fishing, exploring the area, etc... I highly recommend this property to anyone considering a nice Minnesota cabin-on-a-lake vacation!

Excellent Stay

We had an excellent stay! The Sudburys were excellent hosts with great communication. The listing is very accurate. We loved the level yard for yard games and it is definitely a beautiful lot with the lake in front and the pond in back in which we did catch plenty of fish. The cabin is a nice setup with plenty of space to hang out and was very clean upon arrival. We especially loved sitting on the deck in the morning and in the back porch at night! The dock is really nice and was great to tie our boat up to and also had room for chairs to sit right by the water. The lake is great for boating and also has a sand bar that was fun to hang out at. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely stay again.

An easy and convenient less than 2 hour drive from the Twin Cities, this property is one of only two that front onto Black Lake. This unique contained environment to the rear allows for younger children's adventure activities, and can allow for skating and ice hockey in the winter. The ice fishing is terrific! Watch for the busy beavers early in the am and at dusk....large turtles abound with swans and bald eagles soaring overhead!

Our 'tween the lakes location allows for simultaneous water views both front and back! Fish from the docks or venture out in the paddleboat or rowboat located on Black Lake; private and only accessible to us and the family who owns the property on the east side. Enjoy a quiet dinner or just some relaxation time in the 3 season sunroom overlooking. There's plenty of dock access on Big Pine Lake and a public launch to allow for your own water toys. Great swimming and kayaking in crystal clear water from the shoreline or dock as well.
