Quaint log cabin nestled in the woods on 800 feet of private lakeshore on beautiful Lake Butterfield. This peaceful retreat offers a serene setting inviting you to slow down, rest and relax while reconnecting with nature and yourself. Sit on the large front porch with your morning coffee and enjoy a stunning view of the lake and an abundance of wildlife and a symphony of birds.

This cabin has all the amenities one needs for the perfect getaway. Take the canoe, kayak or paddleboard on the lake or go for a swim. Read a book in the hammock, play a game of bocce ball in the yard or roast marshmallows at the outdoor firepit. Bring your bikes and take advantage of the Cuyuna bike trails in nearby Crosby or the Paul Bunyan Trail. For the golf enthusiast, courses are close by including Emily Greens, Crosswoods and Golden Eagle Golf Club. And don’t forget putt-putt in Crosslake!

Snuggle up on cooler days next to the wood burning fireplace and play games or take a nap. Visit popular Crosslake minutes away to enjoy restaurants and shopping.

Cute Log cabin in the woods on a smaller lake, had a fun time catching small sunfish off the dock, and using the 2 kayaks and canoe. Had to be the time of year we went, but the lake level was very low so weren't able to do any swimming from the dock. Had to paddle through 100 yards of lily pads to get to open water, pictures from listing were a bit misleading in that aspect. Lower level of the cabin where the game room is, was either really musty or had very strong air freshener smell - tolerable but very strong odor. Overall a fun little get away.

Family get together

This property has everything you are looking for a north woods experience. The loons, the fish, the heron(lots of wildlife.) It doesn’t take expert fishing know-how to catch fish off the dock. A rod, a hook, and a worm. Any child will be impressed with your fishing acumen. The cabin is clean, organized, and has everything you need for a complete vacation experience. Our family will definitely consider another visit.

Incredible!

I have stayed at many vrbo properties and have never written a review, this one deserves it! The property is gorgeous! You cant see any neighbors-you feel so private yet going out on the dock is wonderful! We ate dinner outside on the deck every night, bonfored every night, played yard games (that we brought), used theor kayaks and paddle boards every day and enjoyed a fun night time rain storm on the deck. The pictures dont do this place justice-10000% better than i thought. I did bring an inflatable dock (10’x10’) that i got on amazon and will say this made our time on the water even more incredible. We were able to just float, play music and wave at the boats passing by. We are already looking to book next year because of how great our experience was! Also-cecily left is wine and a lovely card to welcome us which was a fabulous touch. I give this property a 12/10 BUT will say, the bed was not comfy. I get its a cabin and its not my home but we almost went to get a topper at walmart. This shouldnt stop you from going here-its more just a suggestion for the bad back ppl like me

The property was beautiful. Had a great time fising off the dock and in the rowboat. The stack of firewood was high and we managed to use it all. Chilly nights! Absolutely loved it. So very relaxing just watching the hummingbirds. Truly a great vacation!!

This is a beautiful cabin in a tranquil, seclusive piece of private property close to where we needed to be. It was perfect. I wish I could have brought our kids they would have had a blast with all there was to do. Thank you so much for sharing this unique cabin in the woods on a lake.

Peaceful and beautiful

Loved our week stay here! It's exactly as described, secluded in a little bay on the lake surrounded by woods and nature. We were greeted with a sign on the table welcoming us and a treat in the freezer that really made us feel special. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed, they thought of everything. We spent the week fishing, playing games, and even got out on the paddle boards and kayaks a couple of times. The lake is great, we heard loons every night and saw families of geese and swans every day. We had an amazing week here and would stay again in a heartbeat!

Fantastic location

I’ve been doing a buddies trip for several years now, and we all agreed that this was the best cabin yet. Great amenities, proximity to town, and lots to do in the area. We will definitely look at staying here again next year.

Great Getaway

Our family had a fantastic vacation at this lovely log cabin by the lake! We used the canoe a lot and did some fishing. Our stay had several rounds of rain but we stayed in the cozy cabin and played games. The location is close to a couple small towns that have everything you need. The front porch was nice to relax on and enjoy all of God's creations.

Quiet solitude

Beautiful remote cabin. Not far from quick stop stores, groceries and small towns of Emily and Crosby, which is what we were looking for. Butterfield lake is quiet and serene. Lots of bird watching from the porch….and so many turkeys! We’re from PA and are used to turkeys but not to this degree. They were everywhere!! We came for mt bike riding and Crosby has the best trails. We thoroughly enjoyed. Had several days of rain but did manage to kayak on the lake.

Clean, Convenient, and Quiet Retreat

This is a great place, inside and out! The deck is perfect for enjoying the view, the breeze, and the birds (heard so many loons); the yard is perfect for lounging or playing games. We aren’t water people, but they have a number of options if you are. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, the beds were comfy, and I think this is the cleanest property we have ever rented. It’s just a quick drive into Crosslake area and 30min from Crosby/Cuyuna trails. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful quiet stay

Fantastic property with plenty of sleeping space for families and a lovely deck view of the very low traffic lake. I think we heard one motorized boat during our 4 day stay. Lovely little row boat for a quick relaxing jaunt across the water lilies to the open lake. Very secluded and quiet property. Owners we very quick to respond to all queries and everything we needed was there for us to use! Would highly recommend and will be looking for additional opportunities to come back!

Wonderful vacation

This property is a relaxing quiet, mostly private place to relax. The owners are very responsive if there are issues. They have added AC in case it gets hot. A perfect lake retreat. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Absolute gem

We absolutely love staying at this property! It’s clean, organized and very private. It’s an absolute gem!! You couldn’t ask for a better cabin on a lake to enjoy rest, nature and lake life. The owners are amazing and the property has everything you could want.

Seth has been spending his time on Lake Butterfield since he was a little boy. His parents bought a place near the log cabin in the 60’s. When Cecily started dating Seth, she too fell in love with Lake Butterfield. After getting married and having 3 kids, they decided to purchase their own place on the same lake. Then the opportunity arose to purchase the log cabin. Situated between his parent’s place (which is now owned by Seth’s sister) and 30 acres of land they purchased years ago, it only made sense to buy it. We know you will enjoy the beauty and tranquility as much as we do!

If one is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this private log cabin is for you. The driveway is 1/3 of a mile and brings you through the woods to this delight right on the lake. There is nothing better in the morning then getting up and having your coffee on the porch and watching the wildlife. The lake is big enough to enjoy watersports and swim, but because there is no public access, the lake is never too busy.

The only authentic log cabin on the lake. This cabin was built by the former owners from a kit which was purchased in Montana. Very unique indeed!
