Arenal area house

Stayed for three nights to enjoy all the sights of the Arenal area. Great house and location next to the river to enjoy after a fun day. Pool and hot tub were a bonus with comfortable bedrooms for a party of seven.

Our stay in La Fortuna was fantastic because of this house! We LOVED the pool, spa and being right next to the river! We were 20 minutes from all the adventures that we wanted in La Fortuna and the pizza place right behind the house was delicious!

Family of 7, we had a great time

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this location. The rooms were nice, and clean. The balcony was nice for relaxing, getting a massage, and bird watching. The hot tub was relaxing, and comes with lights, jets, and an Alexa for listening to music. It was nice to have both a washer and dryer on site for washing our clothes. The owner was very quick to respond, and helpful. Some of the downsides were the ants in the kitchen, and the shared hallway bathroom didn’t lock. We enjoyed all of the amenities, and walking down to the river to enjoy the water and wildlife. Over all we had a wonderful experience in this house!

Romantic, yet kid friendly

Beautiful grounds very close to the river. Colorful flora and many unique touches i n and out of property. Loved the sound of the river and seeing the sun come over the balcony while laying in bed in the morning.

Wonderful Spot

We absolutely loved this property just a short 15-minute drive from La Fortuna. My husband and I stayed here after our wedding, and a couple of our friends came with us. The pool was a bit chilly, so we utilized the hot tub instead, which was still amazing! The host was kind, attentive to our needs, and quickly responded to an WhatsApp messages we needed to send (needed extra trash bags). We would definitely stay here again,

Amazing!

Super close to the town of Lafortune-15 min drive, wonderful house with great amenities, pool, hot tub, river nearby. Danny was amazing, AC perfect in the rooms. Just know the water heater can trip the circuit breaker and may need to be fixed, but it's right outside the bathroom door, so its very easy! Just a lil switch. I'd 100% stay again. SO MUCH room!

Really beautiful house for a family. Pool and jacuzzi were excellent. Rainforest around is beautiful and the river is nice. As I saw in other reviews the roosters are loud early in the morning but I got over it after the first morning. It’s great having lots of space and 3 bathrooms. The drive from fortuna is a little bit if a jaunt but it’s fun being out of the noisy town. The forest sounds are really cool.

Beautiful place, wonderful host!

The check in process was very streamlined with personal videos from the host with instructions on how to turn on the jacuzzi. He also sent a video of the property and the areas surrounding so it was easy to find. The kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to cook dinner on our last night. Only a 15 minute drive to the central of La Fortuna. We really enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi! Air conditioning in all bedrooms made things even better with the La Fortuna heat! The property was beautiful! We went for a walk on the trail and saw a sloth in the tree. I would love to come back and stay again!

Great homemade for Arenal adventures!

We had a wonderful stay at this property for three nights this week. Birdwatching from the large balcony during my morning coffee was a highlight! The property was well-maintained and lovingly hosted by Danny, who was a complete delight. In fact he came through for us in a BIG way when we had car trouble during our stay. We also found his dinner recommendations were spot on! While more sparsely stocked than some properties, we had all we needed. Hot showers, linens, speedy Wi-Fi, and a cold coconut water for each of us made us feel right at home. We slept very well each night, but a bit of noise from the road nearby was sometime heard over the sound of rushing water from the river below. We felt very safe here and the kids LOVED both pools, even in the pouring rain. We’d happily stay here again! Thanks, Danny!

Fantastic house 15 min from La Fortuna

So while Arenal volcano is mesmerizing and beautiful, the actual town of La Fortuna isn’t particularly scenic. Therefore we were so happy to be able to sneak away to this piece of absolute paradise!! Danny’s house is private and pretty much perfect. The property is extensive and we were lucky enough to see a strawberry poison dart frog near the river, as well as toucans and many beautiful birds from the terrace. There is a bit of road noise but not a big deal for us. The pool and swing were great fun and we had simply wonderful adventures in the area: ziplining, hiking, rope swinging at El Salto. The house has everything we needed and more! And when we got home from caving at Venado Caves (amazing, highly recommend), we needed to wash our clothes and Danny actually brought over laundry detergent for us. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Danny!

Absolutely INCREDIBLE location and host

Wow, where to begin. This was the first out of country air b n b stay and Danny our host was over the top with his communication skills and beyond thorough with my pre-travel, Jetters to make me feel at home before I ever got there. He provided us videos so we knew exactly where to turn and how to turn the hot tub on , get inside, etc etc . 15 mins to down town la fortuna and the property itself is an absolute dream. There’s a river in front of the house for swimming. An incredible community pool. The house itself has a private pool and hot tub, hiking trails , play areas. We were greeted with the local beer, coffee and fruit. We rented our car with ALAMO HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend, no need for 4x4 in these areas as the roads are paved and the drive way is thick river rock, we actually got a 4x4 and didn’t use it a single time . I can’t recommend this place enoughjj !!!! My sisters will be staying here in September with how incredible it was. Thank you Danny !! We will be back !!!

Noisiest place I’ve slept in. Pretty, but so loud!

Sad I was only able to book 3 nights here due to availability, after the first I was so happy that’s all I had. Don’t get me wrong the house and landscapes are gorgeous, but…. The mattresses are hard as rocks. AC unit in bedrooms keeps bedrooms cool, but it didn’t dent the main body of the house. The online listings that I kept referring back to because I didn’t want to bother the host were completely outdated info, from the name of the Wi-Fi, checkout time, to the code to get in (I didn’t service to see WhatsApp messages until after I could get to the house so the screenshots of the details sent from the Vrbo were all I had). The listing said there was a washer and dryer, but it was out of order and they knew about it already but didn’t tell us. The house has been added on in several places to expand it, but wasnt sealed, so bugs were getting in. Paper thin walls. It’s next to an insanely busy rode that never sleeps, so you hear motorcycles passing your window all night, but if you’re able to fall asleep there’s a rooster that starts its thing from 12 am - 4 am. It was awful. I can’t imagine that rooster not waking every single guest up it was relentless. And smaller things like an exposed drain by the hot tub that had a thick swarm of mesquites entering/exiting all day. Checkout showed 11:30 I believe on guest details in Vrbo but host messaged me asking when we were leaving because he said checkout was 10… house was missing a lot. Host made it sound like I used it all…

Family vacation

Danny was exceptionally wonderful in communicating and meeting our needs most of the time. I understand some of the things we experienced were Costarican experiences and not much we could change as we Americans feel spoiled here in our country. Danny set us up with Antonieta from Mi Viaje. She was able to coordinate all of our excursions for our family while in La Fortuna at a very reasonable price. She booked us for horseback riding , water rafting and private cooking class. We loved everyone and everything. The entire experience was marvelous!! We loved the access to hot water in the showers this was such a treat. All you have to do is apply less water pressure to maximize the hot water. Do not leave any sort of snack or even an empty dirty cup out on the counter as the bugs will come out and you will pay the next morning but Danny provided us with bug spray to get rid of all the buggies. The downside, the kids were disappointed as the Hot tub will not get hot no matter how long ago you got it started. Danny changed the router the next day to maximize utility as all the tech lights etc is controlled by wifi (5g good for speed) but no luck on the hot tub only got as lukewarm. The AC in the master during the day had some type of blue light on and it was extremely hot. We notified Danny, we left for the day once we got back the light was still on but temp was cooler at night. There is only one TV in the house which again weird for us Americans but the TV Remote did not want to function properly and only one channel in English the news so not a whole lot to watch there. The kitchen does not have a full Stove only portable top counter oven but we didn’t cook anything during our stay do there was no problem. There is a wonderful fire pit sitting area by the river in the backyard of the property but no firewood avaible and the fire pit was full of water as we visited during rain season. In the backyard there is a beautiful area to play freely trampoline and soccer goals. The pool house bedroom bathroom was not finished so only the commode available no sink or shower to use. We would had loved to have available Sitting stools for kitchen countertop as the mosquitoes were so bad in the beautiful balcony. The bedrooms don’t have closets so maybe a bit more storage solutions would had been nice as oursolution we did not unpack for the 4 nights 5 days. There is a washer but no dryer. We had to go into town to wash and dry our wet clothes.

Beautiful Property

We really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful layout and the property, rooms and outside were cool. Downside is the pool is pretty cold, the hot tub looses water and has an open drain near that is home to many mosquitoes. There is no air conditioner in the living room but if you keep the bedrooms open and air on, it does a decent job at cooling the place down. The patio is awesome!! Saw a toucan and many other birds outside, that was cool. Private are but near a lot of food and store. No one had an issue with the road noise, but I wear earplugs when loud and it was fine. Rooms stay dark. There is some sealing issues for all the sliding doors, so expect some bugs, but none of them bothered us. All in all it was a great place to stay for the discount price we got.

Amazing

This place is better than the pictures. Definitely the nicest Vrbo we have ever stayed at. The pools were awesome. We saw sloths, toucans, and a very large orange iguana. Danny is super nice and helpful. It’s about a 20 minute drive to La Fortuna. Only downside to this place is the stupid roosters next door! Bring some earplugs if you want to sleep past 6am or just take some naps during the day. Overall, we would definitely stay here again and we’re sad to leave!
