The Getaway is a family-friendly, sun-filled happy home in the middle of Massanutten Resort. Enjoy sweeping year-round mountain views from your sunroom in winter or enjoy our private pool in the summer.

Enjoy skiing, snowboarding, tubing, Massanutten’s Waterpark, endless hiking / biking trails, kayaking & canoeing, fishing, local vineyards & breweries, amazing restaurants, and historic Harrisonburg & JMU. We have something for everyone at The Getaway.

WELCOME TO MASSANUTTEN!
This home is part of the Massanutten Property Owners Association (MPOA) and is governed by its rules and regulations, as well as federal and state laws and local ordinances. There are short-term rentals in all MPOA neighborhoods, but people also live here. Your nearby neighbors may be full-time residents, including families with children, retirees, or owners of second homes enjoying their retreat. Please respect their privacy and property rights, along with those of other guests in our private residential community.

NOISE
Noise that is unreasonable in the judgment of MPOA or its designated agent is prohibited at any time. Quiet Hours are between 10 P.M. and 7 A.M.

PARKING
All tires must be off the roadway. DO NOT BLOCK FIRE HYDRANTS! Our private neighborhood roads are "highways" for law enforcement purposes per Rockingham County ordinance.
Do not park adjacent to any other homes or lots unless this home's owner or property manager has told you he has explicit permission for you to do so.
Parking rules violators may be subject to having their vehicles towed.
If you cannot park all your vehicles on this property or on the adjoining shoulder of the road, overflow parking is available at: the MPOA Owners' Swimming Pool parking lot at 4007 Peak
Drive.
NOTE: Buses, campers and RVs may not be parked at houses or along neighborhood roads. With prior MPOA approval they may be parked in the overflow lot during your stay.

NO OPEN FIRES
You are in an area that is at risk for wildfire! NEVER leave any outdoor fire unattended.

ALCOHOL
Open containers of alcohol are prohibited on any road or common area.

PETS
Pets are not allowed to run at large. They must be leashed at all times when off this property. Pet owners are required to clean up after their pets.

TRASH
DO NOT place trash anywhere outside the house, including on screened porches. It will attract wildlife that could endanger you and damage the property.

Nice Space

Overall, nice house. Only things I would have changed...shades/blinds on ALL windows and add some lamps in the living room. Using the ceiling lights all the time is a bit bright.

10 year old Son’s Birthday almost ruined.

Save yourself the time and stay away from this property, if you have health issues. As there is mold present in this home and conditions are not ideal. The VRBO pictures taken are not the image of what we were resemble when at the property. Not to mention the cleanliness is not up to standards. The home smells like mildew but the owner claims there is none detected. To avoid health concerns and risk, I have requested a refund as we had to make emergency reservations with another host to avoid staying in a place that isn’t ideal. Not to mention we were traveling with elderly family members with health issues and kids. More details and pictures to follow, as I’m hoping the host does the right thing and return our funds, since we were at this property for 15 minutes before vacating. More details to follow along with pictures…..

Really wanted to love this place...

We had a good time, however there were many things about this home that were disappointing. We wouldn't rent here again. Positives: - Good amount of space for 5 adults and 3 children - Loved the pool, used it daily - Privacy, nice fence (pet-friendly) and tall trees - Nice TV with free Hulu account - Ceiling fans in upstairs bedrooms - Dining room table for 8 people - Pool table and ping pong - Access to Playstation 4 - Sunroom w/ pet door - Nice area, house is in a court so very quiet - Two washers and dryers - Comfortable master bedroom bed - Fire pit and chairs Negatives: - We arrived 15 minutes after check-in time and did not have the access code. I texted, messaged through VRBO, and called both numbers and didn't get a response until 5pm (1 hour after check-in time.) Having to wait an hour after a long drive with young children needing to use the bathroom was really frustrating and a very disappointing start to our vacation. The host said she was not near her phone. - The bunk bed room: -- had a ceiling fan which was too close to the beds so we couldn't have our children using the top bunks -- didn't have railings on the top bunks, so our kids couldn't use them -- there was a tiny buffet in the closet (not a dresser) which was way too small for clothes -- no bedside table - The master bedroom/bathroom: -- The blinds on one of the windows were held up by a tied ribbon, we assumed they were broken so we couldn't close the blinds -- The shower door would not close by an inch -- The bottom of the shower had mold lining the bottom -- The hand towel rack fell off the wall and couldn't be secured back on - No trash cans in bedrooms - Mold on ceiling of kitchen - No throw blankets or pillows - Microwave vent kept falling off - Most screens in sunroom were broken - One sunroom door came completely off - Pool chairs had no cushions/we couldn't find them - Pool stairs were wobbly and away from the pool wall which is not safe - We were told pool was 5' but it was 4' at most - Basement bedroom had no closet (the one was locked) or dresser - No mirrors in bedrooms - Living room table is too tall for chairs - Instructions said there were extra blankets, broom, etc. in closets and there were none - The power went out twice during our stay. It would have been helpful to know who to call to report it - Basement shower drain is not fastened, leaving an open hole - No fence around the pool so kids couldn't go out back to play - 2 broken wine glasses

Accommodating

Keyless entry was a breeze to check in. Although some things were missing from the description, the whole squirrel more than happy to make other accommodations to rectify the problem. The house is very spacious. With a family of five adults three teenagers one preteen and one infant we all fit with space left for more. I loved the downstairs. Which is like an apartment and itself. It doesn't have a kitchen but you have a fullback access to outside private bedroom, living area and laundry It was a bit cold to take a dip in the pool but it look refreshing. The grill on the outside that made for a nice cookout. And the garage was made into a game area where we played pool and relax at the bar. There were no issues with the neighbors or noise being as we do have children. Overall oh, we would use this property again and recommended for anyone looking for a nice getaway in the mountains.

Mountain Paradise

Tucked away gem in the mountains, me and my family enjoyed all the amenities the house had to offer ( pool, games, etc..). I also love how close the house was to all the Massanutten mountain actives had to offer. Will book again Thank you Claudia

Mountain retreat.

Clean and comfortable, this home is an easy drive to the bike trails. The fireplace was a plus when the weather turned cold!
