Hi! I'm Krystal and I've just started this VRBO journey as a private host! I love traveling and staying in short-term rentals instead of hotels, including when I go "home" to Seattle for a few weeks in the summer to show my kids where I'm from and see family. During the day, I'm a teacher and HS cheer and dance coach. "For fun," my husband and I started to purchase and remodel properties in Cedar Rapids that still had character to save, then renting them out to my former athletes and friends. That being said, I'm also a landlord. Most importantly, I'm a wife and mom to 2 crazy kids. During the school year, my daughter and I spend our time at HS sporting events and her gymnastics competitions and in the summer, we are active on the Five Seasons Ski Team (a nationally-competitive, show-ski waterski team). My younger boy likes to game and isn't into the active activities my teen girl and I are into. :)

We keep our eyes open for cute houses to remodel to rent and when this little cottage hit the market, we knew we had to see it. The poor thing needed some love, but we could see the potential quickly. It was in a great, quiet neighborhood full of neighbors who have lived here for decades and wanted to see someone bring it back to life, while still being 2 minutes away from an interstate exit - the location was so perfect! I was ready to make this little girl my baby and my husband (luckily) gave me the thumbs-up. Next thing we knew, it was ours. When restoring and decorating, I wanted to keep in mind all the neat things I've seen in short-term rentals, as well as including other things that I imagined would be nice to have during a stay. The word in my head as I planned to open up for visitors was "relaxing," while having all of the benefits of a home, full kitchen, and 2021 technology. While you stay in our cottage, we want you to feel these same things that I envisioned, while being a part of a Cedar Rapids neighborhood, forgoing the typical hotel experience. I love feedback on anything that you think would be helpful, including new, must-read books, helpful kitchen tools, fun board games, etc. We're always striving to make each visit better than the last!

Staying in our cottage means that you are part of a neighborhood who has loved to see the turn-around of this little cottage that sat for years while an owner lived out-of-state. While coming and going, you may encounter a friendly neighbor walking by, people walking dogs, kids walking to the nearby middle and elementary school, hear a dog park down the road, while enjoying the quiet when inside the cottage. You won't be experiencing the stuffy hotel check-in, hearing people in the next rooms or people loudly walking down a hall, etc. However, if you like the benefit of a hotel suite, we have all of that and more. A fully-stocked kitchen and laundry room awaits you, complete with all of the laundry supplies you may need while staying with us. No need to pay with quarters in a hotel laundry room, having to constantly check back to see if your laundry is done and no one is waiting to use the machines. Start a load and night and leave it 'til morning - it's up to you! Want to crank up the music on our bluetooth bathroom fan while you're showering? Do it! Our closest neighbor isn't that close, so enjoy. Staying up, having a few drinks, and enjoying a board game together? No need to whisper because people might be sleeping next door. Enjoy yourself while you stay with no worries and make yourself at home.
