Wonderful vacation spot

This was our 4th visit to the island and this was by far our favorite property. The location is great, the owner communicated well, and the property was well maintained and equipped. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this property to anyone considering visiting this gem of an island.

Exceptional Stay

We love the island and have stayed in various properties over the last 6 years, this was hands down our best experience and favorite property! From the start it was seamless. Very clean house and the house was exceptional with the amenities. Can’t wait to book our next trip with one of Joe’s properties.

Outstanding property!

Owner very engaged and helpful throughout the stay! Natural wildlife abundant- dolphins, sea turtles, box turtles, variety of sea birds and tons of shells for kids! House exactly like the pictures. We will be back soon!

Very cool vibe.

The unique property is 30 steps down a private path to the beach, while Sea Grape trees still protect your privacy. Incredible. The host, Joe, was amazing and made sure we had all our bases covered before arriving, which is key to a great vacation on this secluded island. We were so prepared because of his help.

Excellent beach front property.

Family had an excellent time at this location. So close to the beach, yet secluded at the same time. Couldn't have asked for a better summer vacation. The owner and property manager made sure we had everything we needed. Island is as beautiful as ever. Some other homes had a lot more repairs left from the hurricane in 2022 (Ian), while this rental was up and running perfectly. Thank you Joe, for allowing us to enjoy this wonderful vacation spot.

Best.Place.Ever.

We hadn't been to North Captiva before this trip so were a little apprehensive about the new spot since Covid. I'll tell you what. Not only was the place/view/accomodations amazing, the Island was beautiful. We will 1000% be back. The management was over the top attentive. I wouldn't stay anywhere else but this place.

We got what we paid for

This is a very nice house, clean and in good condition for the most part. Some minor hurricane repairs still being done but nothing that impacted our stay at all. Privacy is great when sitting on the lower deck but you still have perfect views of the water. Responsive host too.

One of the best bnb we stayed

The house was huge . TV in each room is sufficient air conditioning. There were useful kitchen utensils. In addition, there were toys for children with beach chair umbrellas. The towels and sheets were clean, management very punctual and helpful . We are planning to come again. The comfort of the house was priceless ...and the island is a gem!! Thanks to Stella Mari’s to having us Definitely we coming back We will be your ambassador to do your advertisement everywhere

Post hurricane

We were hesitant to book after Ian and the rebuilding process. Some parts of the island still look like a bomb went off. We were glad we booked anyways. Amazing property, minor things need touch up as expected after a hurricane. Hot tub, awnings, everything was flawless. Snook fishing was really good too on the beach in front of house. Joe and team were very engaging and on top of everything and answered all our questions promptly.

Awesome 30th anniversary

Could not have picked a better spot to have a quiet, restful, and relaxing anniversary. The home is beautiful, the process upon arrival and exit or seamless, and the house was superb. Would stay here again with a moments notice. The house is clean, well-equipped, and the views are unbelievable. our favorite place was the breezeway between the second story, bedroom and office/bar area. The views were gorgeous the weather was awesome and the house was first class….. I would not hesitate to book this place again. We used all of the outdoor living spaces and most of the indoor living! Don’t wait! Just book it!

This house, its owner and management team were AMAZING! From the time of scheduling to our arrival on the island, to the time we left! It was perfect! The kitchen has tons of kitchen gadgets to whip up some amazing meals!! Lots of chairs toys and umbrellas for your time on the beach! The privacy was probably our favorite! This was our first time to N. Captiva and we will definitely be back at Stella Maris! Loved our stay and this house is FANTASTIC!! Thanks so much for your exceptional communication Joe and Yanet! Don’t wait, book now and get ready to relax!!! Also make sure you book a reservation ahead of time at “over the waterfront” the food is spectacular. Limited seating.

Best property on the island?

This place has the perfect balance of privacy and beach accessibility. Driving up, you feel a bit like you're in Jurassic Park--very lush with a semi-hidden path snaking through the rainforest. Once we got there the layout was perfect for our family. We gave our teens the "detached" upstairs bed/bath so they could stay up late and sleep in (couldn't hear them at all), while we slept downstairs with what was still a dynamite view of the ocean. The kitchen was very well-appointed with gas burners and tons of cooking accessories. We cooked about half the time. The last night we gathered on the roof deck to watch pods of tarpon feed right off our beach at sunset. Magical place!

Fantastic Property!

This property is everything it is described to be and more!! From the minute we entered the house we felt relaxed and welcomed to North Captiva Island. The house and property are beautiful. The setting is very private with easy access to the beach. The house was clean and bright. The bedrooms and bathrooms were stocked with plush linens. The kitchen was stocked with all the cookware and appliances that you could need - better than any other property we have stayed at. The outdoor living area was as nice as the indoors, with areas of shade and full sun. The view was amazing. You could see the entire island from the top deck!! Perfect for sunrise and sunset. We are already looking forward to staying here again! Thank you!!

Great get away

We had a great trip to North Captiva Island. The island is still recovering from hurricane Ian but is definitely coming back strong. Our house, host and management team were all top notch. Very well stocked house with pretty much everything you could need! We pre ordered groceries from Debbie’s and I highly recommend doing that! We also forgot a few items and Debbie’s service will put your order on the 3:00 ferry for you to get! Island is definitely laid back and fun. We will definitely visit North Captiva Island in the future! Great bartenders at Mangos! If you’re looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of life, you should really consider North Captiva Island! Amazing fishing as well! My son caught a 250 lb nurse shark on a in shore charter! We did catch and release on that one! Lots of great red snapper to eat as well!

Amazing House

Everything about this trip was fantastic. Homeowner communicated immediately, answered specific questions about the property and even provided an online guide with necessary details about the house and trip planning. The property manager met us on arrival smoothing check in and helped return us to the ferry at the end of the trip. We did use the pretrip house stocking option for groceries and everything was exactly as expected. This house is fantastic. Excellent location with direct beach access. Amazing panoramic view from the roof top porch. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen of any VRBO we have been in (griddle, panini press, waffle maker, mixer, blender, slow cooker etc...). House was clean and roomy. Comfortable beds. I cannot say enough about this house. We have made several trips to North Captiva and this was by far the best house we have stayed in.

Beautiful, comfortable house on the beach

The house was just as pictured and as described in the comments. The kitchen was terrific--had everything. The beds were all comfortable and the open floor plan was perfect for our family with adult children. The beach was beautiful. The views from the house were amazing. The hot tub right on the deck was surprising and a big bonus. No bugs as the breeze keeps them away. We rented a boat from Four Winds Marina and docked it at Safety Harbor. Gated and secure. The pool and tennis courts were in tact and we used the facilities every day we were there. The golf cart that came with the house was a six seater--perfect that we did not have to rent a second one to accommodate us. The owner and property manager were both in touch and helpful--much appreciated! We highly recommend this house.

29 years of paradise

We first visited north Captiva in 1995 - booked by a travel agent, we arrived from UK with 3 children under 5 and fell in love with what was then a very well kept secret paradise in Florida - we've been coming most years ever since. Whilst social media has let the secret out of the bag and hurricane Ian has left its mark, north Captiva remains our favourite destination for a family vacation. Grand children on board next time! We've been lucky enough over the years to stay in some amazing front line beach rental homes across the world and Stella Maris did not disappoint. It is up there with north captivas famous Lighthouse in terms of furnishing, comfort and location - indeed the views over 'sunset' beach cannot be bettered. Never have we had such an attentive host at any vacation home - Joe take a bow sir.. how refreshing to discover someone truly invested in making his guests experience as good, comfortable and memorable as possible. If you are considering a visit to North Captiva, Joe and his most fabulous home will make sure your trip is very special. Enjoy!

My husband and I were looking for a special place to spend our 35th anniversary and this home did not disappoint! Incredible from start to finish. Yanet with the property management company was amazing to work with, and Joe the homeowner was communicative from the moment we booked our stay. Wake up in the morning, open the bedroom blinds, and look out over the ocean. Make your coffee, sit on one of the 3 levels of deck, and relax while you plan your day. Walk on the beach, take a golf cart drive, head over to Mangos to sit by the pool, and finish out the day with a drink in the hot tub while watching the sunset! Pete at Over the Waterfront is a top notch chef, having dinner and lunch there is an absolute must! Mainstay has opened after the storms and is looking to expand their menu in the upcoming weeks. Troll the island on your golf cart to explore all the wildlife, and talk to all the friendly people you will meet! Charter a boat with Anthony from Crushin It Cruises, and he will take you fishing, dolphin/Manatee watching or charter you to other islands for lunch or shelling. If you stay in for dinner cooking in the chefs kitchen is a breeze with top end appliances and a fully stocked kitchen. I can't say enough how much my husband and I enjoyed our week there. It was relaxing and revitalizing, which was exactly what we were looking for. Wish we could have stayed longer but we definitely plan on coming back!

From Sunrise to Sunset...and beyond

We loved it. From the very first contact with the Dervil team, we were in good hands: responsive, gracious and informative, willing to answer a myriad of questions asked by two people who had never been to North Captiva. They continued to help us throughout our stay -- we even got a call from the owner checking on us. It was like having a private concierge service. We cannot say enough. Their enthusiasm for the property was evident, and as soon as you pull into the driveway, it is clear why. Rounding the turn in your golf cart, you are transported, your tropical vacation has begun. Echoing previous reviews, the kitchen is well stocked (waffle iron!), the views are excellent, from so many spots in the house. Truly steps to the beach...and the pictures don't do it justice. We enjoyed Stella Maris so much we ate all our meals there. We could not tear ourselves from the view: days began with sunrise on the roof, went till sunset over the Gulf, and ended watching satellites pass overhead from the hot tub. A note about the island itself: do not let the need to pre-order and pack in all your food deter you. A tiny bit of planning (and Dervil will help) is all it takes to make your stay perfect. The proximity and diversity of wildlife more than compensate for the sparsely stocked convenience stores. This is closer to a Caribbean villa rental than a Florida beach vacation. We were happy to trade Walmart convenience for the luxury of quiet, uncrowded beaches, beautiful water, and having nature close to hand.

Beautiful time getting away from it all

We had a wonderful time at this property in North Captiva. It was our first trip and I was a little nervous about getting all of our ducks in a row but everything went off with out a hitch. The property owner and manager are both highly responsive. The location is beautiful and the beach is right there. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house and spent most of our time hanging out there at the beach. The kitchen is very well set up (instant pot, waffle maker, griddle, good blender, drip coffee maker plus Keurig too). There were a lot of beach things in storage too that came in handy during the trip. I loved waking up and having my coffee on the deck looking out over the Gulf. It is a very relaxing and private place to be for a week with the family. The beach is lovely and we even caught some fish right off the shore.

Stella Maris is a fabulous property. Views are incredible and the kitchen is well equipped. The property manager was one of the best we’ve ever dealt with. So informative and responsive! We’d love to come back for another stay!

The absolute best location on island with amazing views from all levels. The rooftop has 360 degree views of the entire island while the back deck area with jacuzzi allows for plenty of privacy. It truly is the most special lot on the whole island!
