Wake up to the sound of waves from this peaceful, private retreat just steps away from beautiful Lake Michigan. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax in this spacious three-bedroom home with large decks built for lounging, dining, unwinding in the hot tub, and sunsets that light up the whole lake. The home offers three bedrooms: a large suite with a loft on the lake-side, a second lake-side bedroom, and an extra-large bunk room for the kids. Enjoy walks on the beach, a tree canopied road, and numerous nearby nature areas for hiking. Located between Harbor Springs and Cross Village off the famous Tunnel of Trees, Good Hart is a well-kept secret that offers privacy and escape while a short drive to many area restaurants and amenities.

Slice of Heaven

Nestled in the woods, we were met by whitetailed deer upon our arrival. Easy check in process. Opened the windows to enjoy the sound of Lake Michigan's waves hitting the beach just feet from the house. Maybe a 100ft walk to the private beach area where use of kayaks/canoes and other beach games is a joy for the whole family. Rock hunting, relaxing in the hot tub while you watch the sun go down over the lake... just so much to enjoy!! The pots and pans and gas stove made cooking easy. We loved it!!

Wonderful Place

The cottage was very comfortable for our family reunion. The beach was beautiful and the whole place was just perfect! The owner is easy to communicate with and very responsive and we hope to vacation here again sometime!

Lovely Lakefront Good Hart Cottage

We had a great time at this cottage located in the middle of the M-119 Tunnel of Trees. The house was the lovely and comfortable, and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the beach which was just steps away from the house. A perfect getaway for our family 😊

BEST Vacation Stay EVER!!!

Beautiful location on Lake Michigan with plenty of amenities and a very helpful and gracious host! We absolutely LOVED the property -- we used the hot tub, enjoyed the beach, took advantage of running and biking routes, loved the outdoor eating area, valued being able to put the 2 children in sleeping areas far from our nighttime fun, and relished in a fully stocked kitchen. Good Hart Country store was a 0.7 mi away if we needed anything. I would HIGHLY recommend this gem to anyone looking for lodging on the western side of MI, near Harbor Springs! Great family memories were made! Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay here in Good Hart.

I've been renting for my sept vacation in this area over 30yrs. My regular choice had been sold and no longer is available. I think this is my new favorite. Everynight enjoyed dinner on the deck with a sunset and Milky Way. Very nice kitchen and sweet beach.

Beach beauty

Beautiful, exceptionally clean cottage steps from private beach with breathtaking sunsets. Home is very private but a cute general store is only 3 minutes away. The hosts provided too-many-to-count amenities including a well provided kitchen, beach towels, and beach chairs. We could tell that a lot of thought went into providing the items and information needed to allow us to enjoy our vacation. This is a 5 star experience. Host was very responsive. We would love to visit again.

Great waterfront property

Our family stayed at the house in early June. Our young boys (4 & 6) enjoyed the beach, ping pong table in the basement, and easy access to the water. We had a great stay and the pictures don’t do the house justice.

Lake Michigan treasure nestled in the woods

Although my brief trip fell right in between beach season and the start of the fall color change, this property did not disappoint. Despite my timing, it’s location is ideal for both the access to the lake (steps from the beach) and a tour of the famed tunnel of trees especially during the peak autumn color. Even though the weather and season change did not permit me to make use of all the home’s full potential I did enjoy the comforts of the property’s updated rustic feel while finding needed solitude of a private beach and particularly found peace unwinding in the outdoor hut tub, complete with lake views, during the chilly and sometimes drizzling evenings. It’s a short scenic drive to all Harbor Springs has to offer as a resort town as well as a shorter hop to Cross Village for a visit to the famed Leggs Inn. The Good Hart General Store is just down the road for stocking up on basic provisions, beer and wine included, and as an easy option for a pizza night in. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. Larger parties will find ample space for everyone complete with two bedrooms with pristine lake views. Please note that while the beach access is a very easy distance and descent, the natural stone steps that lead directly to it can become slick when wet or sandy. Just exercise some caution if you have mobility issues or when supervising children who may opt to climb these very few steps in a hurry. Not a big worry by any means.

Our family had a wonderful stay. The home is comfortable, well equipped and located. The children loved looking for Petoskey stones and building sand castles. The adults loved eating el fresco and watching sunsets. The location is great for short day trips.

Family vacation in Good Hart

We stayed with family of 8 adults. Lots of space to hang out inside and out. Kitchen equipped with all we needed. Love the beautiful lake and listening to the sound sleeping at night The little town of Good Hart has the best general store. Can take care of most your needs. Bought chicken and beef pot pies for dinner and pizza as well. The biggest downside is the large rocks in the lake but we still managed to take a swim. Enjoyed our stay!!

Terrific house, beautiful location!

We loved our visit. Such a beautiful home and well equipped with everything we needed. Super comfy beds! A beautiful, peaceful beach, with Petoskey stones! There was a space for teens to hang out downstairs with a ping pong table that worked very well for our group. The general store and other shops up the hill were great, too! There is a nature preserve just down the street for short walks, and the larger Good Hart nature preserve for longer hikes is about 3 min away by car.

Great for families

Beach access and location on Tunnel of Trees are fabulous. Good Hart is a wonderful community. We love the General store. It’s a bonus that the location was very close to another family cottage. We look forward to visiting again.

this home is a perfect lake house. well equipped for our large family with lots of sleeping options, two kids rooms (boys/girls) and a separate room for the mom and dad. Close to the lake, safe with locking sliders, beach fire pit, hot tub, just amazing.

As advertised- location is steps away from “Pure Michigan” experience!

Short stay- but very relaxing and private. Close to local restaurants and shopping if needed. Home is well maintained and can accommodate a larger family. The lake view from the deck is amazing, with great sunsets to end the day. Grab a book, a beach chair and a cool drink and enjoy beautiful Lake Michigan!

The great escape

Good Harted cottage was just what our family was looking for. Beautiful private beach with a spectacular view, a lovely well-equipped cottage with room for four kids and six adults. Meals out on the deck. Everything we needed was provided. We loved our week there.

Nice place on the lake

We stay every year on the lake, and we liked this place a lot. Lots of rocks in the water (bring water shoes) and on the beach but still sand too. Owners care about their investment, very clean, loved the low number of steps to the water. Recommended!
