Waterfront MI Cottage on Douglas Lake between Petoskey & Mackinaw City

This newly remodeled cottage on Douglas Lake has all the amenities of home! Sleeps 7 comfortably with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. A fully-stocked kitchen and open concept living room/dining area Includes internet, YouTube tv, air-conditioning on the first floor and newly added on the second floor, ceiling fans in upstairs bedrooms, living room and dining rooms. There is a sunroom with a daybed and extra eating area. The cottage has 50 feet of private water frontage with a private dock.
Centrally located between Petoskey and Mackinaw City offers day trips to numerous locations in northern Michigan or simply stay and relax at the lake. Within 30 minutes of Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Petoskey and Harbor Springs. Close to skiing, golf, snowmobile trails and the U.P.!! Douglas Lake has over 40% frontage owned by University of Michigan, ensuring a quiet setting!! This rental also comes with four kayaks.
We are very excited to share this cottage with you. We purchased the cottage in August 2018 and have updated everything. We feel very blessed with the opportunity to own a cottage on Douglas Lake and are happy to share it with you. We hope that you love northern Michigan as much as we do.

This cottage is simply fantastic. The location is quiet and steps from the water. The view is spectacular. The cottage is clean and extremely well appointed. Laura has stocked everything you could need. It felt like going to a friend's home! If we could give a higher than 10 rating, we would. Truly a home away from home, with extra care and detail into every aspect of this cottage and a guest's needs. We have never returned to a VRBO before. We will absolutely return to this cottage!

Excellent cottage - clean, comfortable, and a beautiful setting. Everything was as advertised. We especially enjoyed the kayaks, and listening a family of loons. So many ways to enjoy - the living room was comfortable, but the screened-in porch was a great place to gaze out at the lake, and the adjacent open deck was an extra place to eat or relax. On top of that, the dock was in great condition and had new, comfortable furniture for 4 on the lakeside end, almost doubling as an extra outdoor sitting room. The steps made it easy to get in and out of the water and the area was sandy and clean, so you could swim. The location seemed a bit remote when renting, but once there, we realized it was only 15-20 minutes to Mackinaw City and 25-30 minutes to Petoskey. There are also several good restaurants, especially Douglas Lake Steakhouse and Bar, close by. Make sure you get reservations for that one! Beds comfortable, all linens excellent. We bought our groceries at Ken's in Indian River. Great communication with owner. Strongly recommended!

Enjoyed spending time at the lake and a great location for a day trip to Mackinac Island or the UP. The house is as advertised - with space to relax inside, on the porch, or on the dock chairs with your morning coffee.

Cozy cottage

We loved our stay at Douglas Lake. The attention to detail with paper products and toiletries was excellent. We loved the use of the kayaks and paddle board. Quiet and clean! Would highly recommend staying here.

A dream place on a gorgeous lake. We love this picturesque, gorgeous property. Our family has booked twice and loved both times. Our son is disabled with health concerns so having a bedroom on the first floor with AC makes it so he can always be a part of the fun. Thank you to Laura for being such an incredible host. We have such special memories at this place.

Great lake getaway

The lake house was clean, tidy and just as advertised. The lake is beautiful, and the recently updated home is exceptional. This house is ideal for lazy lake days, and also very convenient to Mackinac Island, Petoskey and even Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes if you are willing to take a bit of a drive. Highly recommended!

Family Weekend

Michigan Family Vacation

My husband and I took our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren here for 5 days. This house is so much more than the description listed. It is immaculate, has everything you could ask for coffee, spices, bath products, state of the art appliciances, the beds are so comfortable, and the house has a welcoming feel to it as soon as you open the door. We enjoyed the firepit, the kids especially enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboard. Laura is very friendly and if you have a question, she gets back to you ASAP. Choosing this house was the perfect place. The kids were sad to leave. Thank you Laura.

Near Perfect

OK, PICKY renter here. We had a marvelous time in this amazing house. This property was 10/10 - and I will tell you why: 1. SO clean - a lot of up north properties are very “cottagey” with nasty bathrooms and spiders. Not this one. Modern, clean, we didn’t feel like we were roughing it. 2. Forgot your cooking oil? She’s got it. Body wash? Crock pot? It’s there. Netflix? Wi-Fi? AC? Ice maker? It’s ALLL there. The only thing missing were Kleenex because we are a sneezy crew. This host thought of everything. 3. The beds were so comfortable. I slept 10 hours the first night and I haven’t done that since 2002 4. The fire pit and lake view were amazing. Kids made s’mores every night 5. LOVE the Kayaks and paddle board. 6. If you are a coffee snob, bring a French press or keurig and your coffee. She’s got the basics there but we like our super strong coffee. 7. It was SO NICE having a washer and dryer 8. We were 20 minutes from the Mackinaw Ferry 9. Dam Site Inn was like stepping back into 1958 and they haven’t changed much since then, seriiously a must see 10. Super quiet neighborhood - we will be BACK

Better than advertised.

We stayed 2 nights and visited Mackinac Island. This rental is among the best we’ve ever stayed at. Very clean with all the basic amenities and more. Our family enjoyed the yard games and kayaks and it was very easy to stop at the market down the road for groceries to cook dinner. Sun room and outdoor space by the lake were especially nice for enjoying the outdoors. Zero complaints.

Perfect family lake house

Absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous home and lake. Comfy beds, perfect living spaces, and the kids loved the stairs into the water. Easy drive to Mackinac for a day trip and a serene and gorgeous lake that our whole family loved. We hope to come back again! Thank you to Laura and family!

Short but sweet

We had a great time. Worked great for a fishing trip with a few friends. We had to leave a day early due to family health issues, but enjoyed our stay while it lasted.

Wonderful Vacation

Very nice, very clean property. Even nicer than depicted in photos. All appliances and furniture high quality. Owner provided amenities were appreciated. Very quiet and serene. Beautiful sunrise. Everyone in my family gives this property 5 stars.
