The Neighborhood:

We are on the corner of Fir St and Sixth St in San Diego. Right across Sixth St is Balboa Park, one of the top destination attractions San Diego has to offer. You will find amazing Museums surrounded by gorgeous gardens. Walking through Balboa Park you will also find a lot of local vendors and artists. You can do your morning run at the park and enjoy Sunny San Diego. Conveniently located on sixth avenue and a CVS a block away from outside of the building. You will be within walking distance from restaurants and coffee shops.

San Diego International Airport

Seaport Village,

Little Italy,

Gaslamp Quarter,

and San Diego Convention Center are minutes away by car or a short Uber/Lyft ride.



Getting Around:

Having a vehicle is ideal anywhere in California but not necessary when staying at this apartment. You will find many things are at a walking distance or short Uber/Lyft ride. Electric Scooters available around the building and you can ride or walk to Downtown San Diego, Little Italy and Balboa Park Museums. The San Diego airport is 2.4 miles to our apartment, that is usually a couple minutes’ drive.

Decent value

This isn’t the 4 Seasons but it absolutely serves the purpose. Close to Balboa park and walking distance to everything a tourist would like to see. The planes didn’t bother me and I was fine walking up the stairs. I see how some people would be find those to be hard stops. San Diego has a homeless problem but the gate is secured and I never felt unsafe.

Nice stay in apartment across from Balboa Park

Overall this was a great apartment in a very convenient location across from Balboa park and walking distance to a cool dog park and museums. The apartment was clean and comfortable. It was awesome to be able to bring our dog. The check in process was easy. And because they own the entire building there is staff you can talk to during business hours, which is great in case of emergencies. Cons of the place were pretty minor, but I thought still worth mentioning. We checked in late at night and the area felt a bit unsafe at night. Also, the apartment is listed as a 1 bedroom that fits 4 but it isn't a true 1 bedroom (no door to bedroom). This didn't bother us and seemed minor but if there are guests hoping for the privacy of a 1 bedroom it could be an issue. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

We immediately left this property due to stains on the furniture, a half-used bottle of water "for our guests' use," and a host that swore at us and physically intimidated us. DO NOT STAY HERE. VRBO would not honor our request to get a refund and Expedia simply sent us to VRBO. We are going to remove our property listed on VRBO because they don't care about the customerrs. I have pictures of this unhealthy place if needed.

All in all, a pleasant stay

We were at this property for three nights. Pluses: 1. Management was very nice and helpful. They have multiple units in this building. So the unit advertised, may not be the exact unit you thought you reserved. 2. Unit was very clean 3. Water pressure was decent 4. Comfortable bed in the particular unit, we were in 6. Decent area. Nice coffee shop 2 blocks away. Short driving distance to Zoo, Balboa Park and Little Italy. Minuses: 1. We were on the 3rd floor, so sometimes it took awhile for the hot water to reach the unit 2. Be aware that the airport is very close, so planes are flying over, very closely, every 5 minutes. 3. No elevator. So if you’re not able bodied, you won’t want to walk up 3 flights of stairs.

The apartment itself was great, and the communication with the front office was great.. The location right next to the park is also great. The apartment is under the flight path to the airport so the ear plugs provided with the apartment are much appreciated.

Great Host. Safe. Clean. Close to everything you need.

I cant say enough good things about the FirSix team. They are very responsive. When I couldn't access my email with stay instructions they responded quickly through the app. I had additional questions all of which had very quick responses. The property has very tight security so for any women traveling alone, a girls trip or a family trip, you will feel safe. The location is not in the central hub of everything which I preferred, but is relatively close in under 2 miles. I will stay there again and I recommend FirSix.
