This was my first time booking through Vrbo, and unfortunately, it confirmed my concerns about using a vacation rental instead of a hotel.The first unit was filthy and unprepared:•Photo A: Stained, hairy sheets.•Photo B: Overflowing garbage bins with a strong odor.•Photo C: Dirty refrigerator.•Photo D: Oven covered in grime, unusable.The host offered a second unit, assuring me it was clean, but it also fell short:•Photo E: Dirty bathroom sink/shower—I had to clean it before anyone could bathe.•Photo F: Stained drapes.•Photo G: Couch so dirty I had to cover it with a blanket I purchased.•Photo H: Minimal cookware—only a tiny frying pan, making cooking impossible.Other issues included plumbing problems; the shower didn’t drain properly, leaving us standing in pooled water. Because of the unclean kitchen and lack of supplies, I was forced to eat out daily, which made this trip far more expensive than planned.This trip was meant to be time with my oldest son, teaching him home-cooked recipes. Instead, I spent extra on cleaning supplies and meals just to make the space livable.Both units have potential, but they require a deep clean, new linens, and maintenance before being listed. It is unacceptable that Vrbo allows properties in this condition to be rented.
