Water's Edge Cabin on Lake Vallecito is a rustic WATERFRONT cabin located between Durango and Bayfield Colorado within walking distance to marina. Incredible views of the lake!

The rustic, comfortable, relaxed cabin-style home is situated in a rare, waterfront with a few other homes and cabins nearby. It is perched up and provides AMAZING views of Lake Vallecito. There are large multiple decks and a propane grill at the cabin. Our guests can fish, canoe and kayak directly from this home. Inside, there are views from the lake in every room of the house. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a comfortable living/dining area and kitchen.

* Queen Bed + Twin (2nd Floor)

LOCATION: In the heart of the Lake Vallecito recreation area, you are near the marina, hiking, biking and ATV trails, fishing, hunting, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling - the San Juan wilderness area is at your doorstep! Vallecito also has a few restaurants and general stores. Appx 25 miles to downtown Durango and 50 miles to Purgatory Ski Resort.

COOLING: Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

NOTE: The fireplace in the Great Room is operational; the fireplace in the bedroom is NOT operational.

Beautiful view of the lake. Unfortunately, lake Vallecito is one-half dried up due to lack of snow fall. There is only one restaurant in the area unless you drive in to Durango. But, the cabin is lovely!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great, quiet location. Nice drive into Durango and even over to Mesa Verde.Was a little disappointed that the lake was so low, but found out that it wasn’t due to drought and that it would be back up after winter. House was nice and clean, beds comfy. A bit inconvenient for both bathrooms to be downstairs. Overall, we had a great stay.

We had a lot of fun, caught a bunch of fish and released them, it was very comfortable and a excellent location, right on the water,We would definitely stay there again, it rained every day 2 or 3 times and at night it would rain, sure was good sleeping weather, every one walking by with there dogs were nice friendly, and stopped and talked I talked to someone that was cleaning the cabin and she was very nice I would recommend staying there.

It was a nice cabin right on the water. They need better directions how to get to the cabin and better signage. There are no stores or restaurants in the vicinity. You have to drive 3 to 4 miles to find a store or restaurant. The cabin was nice with three bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. Beautiful decks all around the house overlooking the water. It was an enjoyable time.

I accidentally left a couple shirts, was charged $80 for the host to return them....thought that was a little bit ridiculous since cost of shipping was no more than $20-25.

Gorgeous sunset/sunrise

The unit has small rooms but the stay was great. We enjoyed being outside in the beautiful weather. It was a great location since we wereworking in Bayfield. Thank you.

Beautiful views of the lake and mountains

Right on the water with 2 decks with amazing views. Cabin was quaint and comfortable. Rafting and scenic train ride within 30 minutes. The property management company was easy to get ahold of and quick to respond.

Incredible Lakeside Cabin

This waterfront cabin is charming, with amazing views of Lake Vallecito and loads of relaxing porches. That said, the stairs inside the cabin are not easily climbed, that first step is a doozy without a solid bar to hang onto. All but one of the beds are located upstairs, but both bathrooms are downstairs, so not very convenient. Over all, the cabin was peaceful and just right for two of us - we had a lovely anniversary trip.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at this cabin! Its about 30-40 minutes to most things in Durango. The lake is beautiful. All bedrooms have a great view of the lake. Both bathrooms are downstairs. The home has a double kayak with one paddle when we stayed there. We brought our own life jackets. We hiked around some of the trails near the lake and it was so beautiful. The cabin was well stocked except there were no coffee filters. Would definitely come back to this cabin and this lake.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home is comfortable and the view is beautiful. We washed all dishes before using them as they all appeared less than clean. We had a difficult time playing family games as the lighting was poor. If these 2 things were corrected it would be a great property. It was peaceful and had everything we needed.

Spectacular Views

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The mountain and lake views from this cabin are just perfect! The cabin overlooks Vallecito Lake with not one but two porches to choose from. A nice balcony for morning coffee and a lower one for a nice lunch/dinner outside in the shade. Another bonus is you are just a few hops skips and jumps to the water. Getting to the water can be a bit tricky immediately below the cabin, but a short walk down the hill is an easier access trail. Now for the cabin itself...the layout is a little strange. The biggest bed (queen size) in the house is upstairs, where the master bedroom only has a double and pushed up against the wall. The master bedroom is a bit of a small space but is manageable. The cabin can sleep up 6 in beds and probably a couple more on the couch, but the conditions would be tight. The kitchen and living areas are pretty small and the second bathroom is tiny. There are some tradeoffs with this cabin. If you are going to be out and active all day and just use this cabin as a basecamp for eating and sleeping, like we were, then this place is perfect. The cabin is maybe a quarter mile from the marina where you can rent a boat, kayak, paddle boards, swim, etc. Great location for some days on the lake! If you are looking for quiet solitude under the trees with a fire pit to huddle around in the mornings and evenings this is not the place, but to see sunrise over the mountains and lake...just perfection.The directions to the property were very helpful and the checkout was super easy.
