The Rio Grande Retreat had one of the best equipped kitchens with very high quality cookware. The living room was comfortably furnished with a big tv and many streaming options. The home had extensive decorating accessories and art that was warm and welcoming. The space worked well for our family of four adults. The location was peaceful, quiet and an easy, safe walk to the Plaza. The DeVargas Center was close by for picking up groceries at the Market or Sprouts. It would have been really great to have a WORKING fireplace for a cozy Christmas setting. The fireplace looked good, There were no instructions for operating the fireplace, and it seemed intuitive to turn on the gas line and use the remote control to switch it on. I was unable to get the fireplace turned on. Comments similar to mine in the guest book document that the fireplace hadn't worked in the past 2-3 years! I called guest services about it and was told they would send someone to check on it that afternoon. No one came and there was no follow-up by guest services. While I would stay here again, including the fireplace as a feature in the description is NOT ACCURATE and NOT ACCEPTABLE. Describing the home as having a fireplace is deceptive if it doesn't work. Either update the VRBO description or fix the fireplace situation. I might feel better about it if a price adjustment were made.
