We invite you to enjoy our rustic waterfront hunting and fishing lodge in Engelhard NC. Engelhard is located in Hyde County, which is renowned for hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place. It is the perfect remote location to hunt, fish, kayak, bird watch, and explore. It is also a great place to enjoy a good book and relax. We look forward to having you as our guest.

Other area attractions include Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge (full of trails suited for hiking or biking), Charter boats and hunting guides are for hire in the area. Numerous State of North Carolina Game Lands surround the area.
The beaches of the Outer Banks (Nags Head) are 57 miles away.

Our home sleeps 9 with a rustic laid-back atmosphere including a full-size pool table and foosball. Grill, and Fire pit provided in the backyard. Some fishing, crabbing, beach equipment, two kayaks, two bikes, and a Jon boat are available for use. Please be aware, our home is not handicapped accessible, we do have stairs within the home.
Please note only small boats can navigate under the bridge between us and the harbor, large boats can launch/dock less than a mile from our home.

THE BEST!!!

A hunting trip of 7 friends and family. Early 20 to lower 70. Everything you could wish for in a place to stay. Crabing and fishing in the canal next to the house to pool and foose ball table in the house. Don't miss an opportunity to really have some super time of your group!!!

Had a good time. Family was together and we really enjoyed ourselves.

While this property was very clean, offered enough room to sleep 9, was well stocked for activities, staples like coffee, sugar, etc., was properly air conditioned, quiet for sleeping and room to park, it had the impression of walking into a bar. The kitchen was one step up from the normal floor level (I fell on the first night there), the bathrooms were two steps up, The floors were concrete and quite rough in the bedrooms. To our amusement, it seems to be haunted, but not threatening.

Glad you had a great time at our home. We are very happy to hear everything was clean and well stocked. As you can see in our photos, our family room is set up as a rec room so that everyone can relax and have fun. So glad you were able to enjoy our games, supplies and amenities. Also as described in our listing, we are not handicapped accessible and do have steps. As far as the house being haunted, I was very surprised to see this comment. We have owned this home for ten years and have never had any problems or complaints of this type.

Great Hunting Lodge

Place was perfect for hunting getaway, close to the boat ramp. We thought we could bring the boat back up the creek to the house after launching, but my boat sat too high in the water (low bridge that only jon boats can fit under). Not a big deal bc public boat ramp is less than a mile from the house. Great setup with pool table, foosball and darts in the big common area. 3 bedrooms that will in-total sleep 5-6 adults comfortably. Owner was also very helpful with local knowledge and communicated well throughout our trip. Will definitely be booking again next duck season!

Andrew was a terrific guest. Communication was excellent and he left the house in excellent condition. He and anyone he recommends is more than welcome to stay. A fine gentleman. Look forward to having him back.

It is a very quiet and relaxing community. The locals are great people to chat with. Although the drive is a hour from obx there is practically no traffic until you reach obx. This place also offers so much between darts foosball and billiards table to keep my kids from saying their bored! Which is the best part in my opinion. Fishing the creek here was fun. Our family caught crab, flounder, spot fish, croaker, and shrimp, tons of minnows for bait and at the end 3 eels. Which offers great down time between trips to obx. I did find out that one of the foodlions in obx delivers out to engelhard but only found it out the night before we left. Just a disclaimer cell service can be spotty so keep that in mind. This trip was the first time in a very long time that I seen the word roaming and the 1st I've even seen roaming on my phone. Ethco stays open until 10pm so snacks, drinks and mini pizzas are a short walk away. If you stay here far creek sells really good breakfast sandwiches that arnt overly priced. If you plan on fishing with worm stock up before arriving as the closest place ive seen with them was Chris's grocery in swan quarter about 30 minutes away and they sell quite a few other good things there like select meats frozen foods and what not. I personally would stay here again!
