Shaver Lake is the perfect place to vacation. The climate is ideal with cool summers and mild winters. The list of activities is long and includes, hiking, fishing, skiing, sledding, boating, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and more! The Great Escape was given it's name just after surviving the Creek Fire in 2021. Built by the owners, who can't wait to share this great place with lots of room

Lovely 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, with a large chef's kitchen, dining area, and living room. You will love the outdoor space. Covered patio, ping-pong, hot tub, bbq, flat grill, all nestled in a quiet cul de sac in the mountains of Shaver Lake. There is central AC + Heat. Modern amenities in the woods, truly a Great Escape!!

The Great Escape is outfitted to suit the needs of a modern vacationer. Beautiful hardwood flooring throughout! A fully equipped chef's kitchen provides a user-friendly space to cook a meal. A washer and dryer in the cabin are perfect for soggy ski clothes. Entertainment options like flat-screen TVs mean you can cozy up with a good movie next to the fireplace!

We have a crockpot, waffle maker, and flat griddle, great for pancakes or crepes! We have a nice covered bbq area with a propane bbq.

Linens - We DO provide clean linens
Towels - We DO provide clean bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths.
Toiletries - We DO provide shampoo, conditioner, and soap for each bathroom.

It's our favorite place & we are excited to share it with you!

We are pet friendly and we are happy to welcome your well house- and furniture-trained pups! We do ask that you clean up after them inside and out. There is a non-refundable pet fee of $150 per stay and that covers up to two dogs. You will want to add this at the time of booking.

If you have a large party, multiple families, family reunion, wedding...secure multiple cabins to be close to your friends and family! Message me for details @thecabinhost.

As part of our effort to help you relax and enjoy your stay, we have partnered with Safely to provide you with the below protection. The cost of this protection has been included in your rental rate and fees and covers you for accidental damages during your stay. The Trust and Safety Fee includes up to $3,000 of coverage for accidental contents damage and up to $500,000 coverage for accidental property damage and bodily injury. Complete terms regarding the Trust and Safety coverage will be included in your welcome message. The Trust and Safety Fee is refundable only if the reservation is canceled in writing at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the arrival date.



The cabin is for families and friend getaways only, no parties. We are the owners, not a rental agency. We have neighbors who live next to our cabin year round and we want to respect that.

Another Amazing Stay

The Great Escape is our favorite house to stay at in Shaver Lake. It is beautiful and clean and fully stocked. The location is amazing. Jamie, the host, is the greatest and so wonderful to work with. The owners of the house are wonderful as well. It is always a fabulous time when we stay here. We can't wait for next summer!

Relaxation with a view

A prime location! This beautiful cabin sits in privacy with the most amazing lookout for spectacular sunsets! We were spoiled by everything the cabin offered! Such a warm stay with everything you need to enjoy your time away! It felt like home and what we needed. On our last evening we were even treated by a visit from a family of deer in the backyard - simply majestic! Thank you for the communication, recommendations, and such a wonderful stay! Great house and even better hosts!

We've had several annual trips and reservations hosted specifically through the cabinhost homes. Jamie has consistently provided the best communication and is very helpful when it comes to questions and goes above and beyond to ensure we feel welcome. Each house comes fully stocked with amenities and extra gifts. We specifically reserve homes that are hosted by Jamie/thecabinhost each year. This house has a great open floor in the common areas (dining, kitchen, and family room) where we gather each night. There's plenty of space around the property for our young kids to enjoy sledding. It's small enough where they can climb up themselves and slide down. The backyard is big and spacious. This is the third time we have stayed at this particular house. Unfortunately, the previous tenants or a neighbor did not clean up after their dog and the backyard was littered. We had to pick it up before the kids stepped on it. Overall, I still would book this house again. Our families had alot of fun playing in the snow and made wonderful memories during our stay. Thank you Jamie!

Priceless

Jamie has hosted my family before and knows exactly what our family damanic is. So out all the Amazing cabins she hosts she recommend the "Great Escape" where she said my family would be most comfortable.....my son was home from Airforce and it was soooooooo important that my family spent quality time before he deploys. The Cabin was priceless and beyond our expectations!!! We really felt like we were at home and lacked nothing everything was A A A AMAZING......i cant believe they would rent out such a personal cabin with everything in it that you would possibly need!!! Jamie actually cares about the experience she helps create for the families that she host!!! I give 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars out of five!!!! Cant express in words how greatful we are for our " Cabin Host"

Hudson Cabin Family Getaway

We absolutely loved staying in the incredible Hudson Cabin. There was enough room for over a dozen family members to spread out, cook together, hang out in the hot tub and play loads of games together. We rented a pontoon to enjoy the lake one day of our trip and spent the rest lapping in peace and luxury. Can’t wait to come back!

The Great Escape was absolutely amazing!! We throughly enjoyed staying there. After spending days at the lake coming back to relax at this cabin was perfect. Beautiful sunset views and outdoor activities for our teenagers was the perfect place to stay. We already booked for next years stay! Thank you Jamie for being such an awesome hostess!!

This Cabin Has It All

We had a wonderful stay at The Great Escape Cabin and would highly recommend it to anyone! The cabin is located in the ideal location, only 5 minutes from town, 10 minutes to Shaver Lake & Camp Edison, and 30 minutes to both the Mariposa Sequoia Grove and Dinkey Creek. The cabin itself is modern, clean, and full of all the amenities a family could want. Having a large yard with a deck, privacy, and great views was a huge plus for our family since we have young children. We’ve been doing an annual summer cabin stay with our friends for the past 4 years and this was by far the best cabin we’ve stayed in. Thank you for a great stay, we hope to be back next year!!

Another fantastic stay

Family Winter get Away

We had so much fun last year we came back again. We always do a family getaway this time every year. This property was clean and had loads of activities for all. It had all the amenities you would want just as if it was your own home. Clearly voted as our favorite rental.

What a beautiful home!

We loved this home. Beds were comfy & great location with great views! The only complaint that I have is that the house doesn’t have central AC and that was what I was expecting. The master stays cool because of the portable cooler that’s in there but other than that the house was very warm and uncomfortable in the afternoon/evening so therefore I gave it 4 stars. We would go back but not in this heat.

This place is a dream!

What a beautiful house! Plenty of space, cozy and clean, fully equipped, and exactly as pictured. You can tell that the owners love this place and it shows. If you want to feel like a welcome guest at your best friend’s mountain retreat, then look no further! A few minutes drive gets you to the town and all of the fun lake activities. The host replies quickly and has lots of tips. Thanks for the memories. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful House, great location

Our vacation here was great, house was super clean and really, really nice. We had dogs with us and that worked really well at this house, off the beaten path but close enough to town at Shaver Lake, would vacation here again

Beautiful views

The cabin was incredible!! Very clean and exactly like the description said. We went for a wedding at China Peak and the location was great. Very easy process and Jaime was a great host who answered all our questions promptly. Definitely want to go back!!!*****

Such a great family vacation house!

This was an amazing vacation. The house is clean and has everything you need. We fished, snowboarded, played games. I would recommend this location and would love to return. It was so nice to have our dog w us too.

Wonderful place to stay.

This property was perfect for our annual family getaway. Very clean and welcoming from the decor to the comfy bedding. The house had great amenities for kids and adults. This cabin in the woods was voided our favorite of all we have ever rented. Everyone had plenty of room and the views were breathtaking.

Amazing!!

Such a great family experience! We didn’t have to leave the property. Kids sledded and mom was in hot tub with complimentary wine! The house was beautiful- supplies to make s’mores, popcorn, and beautiful fire! Can’t wait to go back in summer!

Our holiday stay

The owners were very sweet, wonderful, great people . They have a beautiful home . I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The kitchen was amazing every single accessory you would ever need was there, we love to cook in our household . Bathrooms were beautiful. Perfect house for a family , plenty of space to breathe . Warm and Inviting

We took our annual before Christmas get together with all our kids and grandkids. This property was by far one of the best places we’ve stayed. The house was well equipped with everything and anything you could need! Everything was comfortable and cleaned. The location is phenomenal and the outdoor area and yard was amazing we spent quite a bit of time out there! The home was decorated for Christmas tree and all which was the icing on the cake!

2020 Jones Summer Bonanza

Such an awesome cabin with great hangout spots, kids loved the hot tub after a cold day at the lake. Fresh flowers and a bottle of wine was a very nice thought, the cabin was very clean inside and out.... so glad to see it was spared in the recent fires. I would highly recommend this spot to any small gathering, very comfortable !!!!

Beautiful and very clean!

We had a great time, sledding, playing ping pong, corn hole and fishing. The house has 3 comfortable bedrooms and 2 nice size bathrooms. Very homey and clean. Would definitely come again! Thanks for a great stay and the beautiful fresh cut flowers.
