This quaint cottage is a real treat for anyone to enjoy! Surrounded by fruit trees,flowers,trees and nature. This is a one bedroom ,one bath with a queen hide a bed,and an extra sleeping nook with a twin bed. The place is powered by generator. If you want to enjoy just a taste of off grid, here's a place for you! Great option if youre going to enjoy hunting near by,fishing on the Kootenai River, or just a get-away from life's challenges. We are located about 4 miles off the main highway on a gravel road.

Charming Cottage 2 Visits

Arriving at the cottage after dark, we discovered a fire in the fire pit on the way inside. After a brief visit, we continued to the cottage to discover charming “off grid” comfort. The modern cook stove allowed heating the room while cooking meals if chosen. The propane refrigerator was perfect, sitting in the pantry, also filled with goodies if you forgot to bring eats. Nothing is missed in this cottage for comfort. This cottage was built with love… outdoors you will find gardens and fruit trees and beyond the gardens the forest trees. Hubs went outside while still dark and with the freezing clear morning sky was blessed to see the starry heavens. We traveled home being blessed & refreshed.

Great place to stay while exploring the area!

Awesome place with the rustic feel of a wood fire heat source and propane stove...loved it! Boys and I will be back for sure!

Shelby and her family are great host. Quiet comfortable place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. We will be back. Miss it already.

Another fun visit

This time we stayed for 3 days: The nights were wonderful even in mid July- We roasting hot-dogs way into the evening, etc. The days were great too, we hiked up to West-Fork Cabin, swam in Robinson Lake and sat by the creek coming out of Smith Canyon for hours.

A Hidden Gem

Just what I was looking for, secluded yet close to town and several lakes. A nice full kitchen and a stocked pantry that I have never seen the likes of in an VRBO. Don't let the off-grid part scare you. It was pretty easy to navigate, and help was just a phone call or email away if we had questions. The owners and their family were great! The wood-fired hot tub was easy to operate as well. We had a few fires in the fire pit and music cranked up a bit but didn't feel like we were bothering neighbors because we didn't have any (close that is). Out of all the places I've stayed in near Bonners Ferry in the last 7 years, this is by far my favorite. I can't wait to go back!!!

Quiet cozy cabin

We very much enjoyed our quiet getaway! The house is cozy, and the property is very beautifully landscaped. We appreciated the small fenced area where we could let our dog out at night. The pantry was stocked with all sorts of goodies. We wish there had been a few more items in the kitchen for prepping our meals (cutting boards, a few more knives, spices etc) but we were able to make due with what was provided. We would definitely come to stay again!

Great Home Base for Adventure in Northern Idaho

My family enjoyed an extended weekend at this character cabin in the woods. This Cabin was off the beaten path but not too far off the pavement, in the middle of a mixed farming community with the friendliest people I have ever encountered. The cabin has everything you need and more to enjoy some peace and quiet. Water quality was exceptional, no need for bottled drinking water. Very accommodating and responsive hosts. My family and I would love to stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for a stay in a private setting.

A little slice of heaven up a dirt road

The cottage is darling and I cannot wait for a repeat stay, possibly without kiddos for an extended weekend, although they had the time of their lives. Our 3 kiddos walking into the snack pantry was an out of this world experience of unison gasps followed by “oooooh can I have this?” Living off-grid for a week was a real treat too. What a concept for efficiency and a fun twist to the “norm”! I would gladly rent this cottage over any hotel/motel setup. The weather during our stay was toasty and there isn’t an AC unit, but I knew that going in and we survived with the fan propped up in the kitchen and windows open. Temps cool significantly in the evening and it’s pure bliss if it was a hot one earlier that day. The WIFI was fast and facilitated some screen time for kiddos (girls on my computer streaming a movie and my son playing his x-box on the TV). We brought an air mattress so each of our littles felt like they had their own space and it worked out so well for our stay. The instant hot water tank was equally as amazing with 3 filthy kiddos after a hard day of playing outdoors. As for Shelby and her family, I have nothing but high praise. Shelby is warm and welcoming and the kind of gal you instantly like and want to go share a meal with. I had a sneaking suspicion when she helped me navigate my stay prior to my booking with her just to make sure it wasn’t too far away from the family we’d be visiting during our vacation. Communication was superb. **Check your email before turning off the main highway and follow Shelby’s directions. What a riot ….I did not realize I would not have decent service on Turner Hill and began to panic when my navigation told me I had arrived at my destination and I was in the middle of a gravel road with no home nearby 3 panicked children and a . As the three cellphones in the vehicle are chiming in Welcome to Canada*** Shelby, Thank you for everything and then some! I am so grateful to have met you and had this experience. I look forward to seeing you again next year.

Cottage Retreat

The cottage was absolutely perfect so beautiful and enough room for the family to move around in and The only complaints from my family was that there weren't any movie dvds available for night time and there weren't ways to cool off from the scorchering weather. A small airconditioner would of been great, and that there weren't any close by swimming holes. All the light bulbs were burnt in the night lights

Of course we picked the hottest time of year to stay off grid! Haha

What a great place to stay! I just wish it wasn't in temps over 100⁰. We needed to stay someplace as my GF got a sever case of Bronchitis and a sinus infection on her plane ride to Spokane where I picked her up or we would have been camping. We loved it a lot. You might even see us in the winter. I highly recommend staying there. Be warned though, Google will lie to you with directions if you're coming from Canada.

Off-grid Oasis!

Such a sweet and peaceful place. Much better than any hotel we could have booked for our family! I slept more soundly than I have in a very long time, and it was difficult to leave! Hospitality was top-notch, and if we are ever traveling through the area again, we will be back!

As described by my wife, the place was "SUPER cute"; really well decorated. The yard was also amazing with beautiful flowers, fruit trees, and gardens. It's like a small oasis in the middle of the woods. Strawberries were on, and the host let us pick and eat the berries, which were so delicious. Oh, and the internet was very fast, faster then the cable internet I get at my suburban home. Host was very friendly and hospitable, and did a great job communicating when needed. Really enjoyed staying here!

Great cabin in the woods!

Shelby was great and has clearly put a lot of work and effort into this property. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend to get away and unplug for a few days.

Fantastic Hideaway!!

My family and I just loved our stay at this property. Shelby and her husband were warm and welcoming and the cabin was absolutely wonderful. If you're looking for peace and serenity, this is the place. The snack pantry was super awesome too! You will not be disappointed!!

Outstanding

Shelby was excellent and I'm glad I met her....a very nice lady and pleasant to talk to. She made sure that all my needs were taken care of. I was looking for silence and peace and found both. I would recommend this rental for anyone looking for the same. And, it's close to Bonners Ferry proper for shopping and other necessities. I would not hesitate to stay there again - highly recommended

Beautiful, peaceful and quaint getaway location.

The cabin was perfect for a few nights mussels up in the woods with family and friends. Keep in mind, the cabin runs on a generator for its energy source and a wood burning stove for its heat source. A little work, but we’ll worth it if you’re looking for a backwoods getaway. Overall very impressed with the home and Shelby’s amazing host service. We will definitely book again!

Great place!

We stayed here for about a week while we hunted. The accommodations were nice and clean. The landlord was awesome to work with, very helpful and went above and beyond. Beautiful area, we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Nice property

Directions to property were a little vague although the owner said she submitted a detailed map that we didn’t see at the check in process. We found the property after talking to a person on the road who gave us good directions! Really a cute little place. Our ATT cell phones worked fine for texting but not for WiFi however we didn’t need it. We just needed a place to sleep overnight for an early appointment the next day. All motels were full and we were thankful this was available on short notice! Owner provided a push button generator for the lights when she realized we probably couldn’t pull the rope on the first generator which was super thoughtful of her. Really nice people and the lights worked fine with the generator running. Beautiful espresso machine for morning coffee but we had never used one before so we didn’t try it. Nice wood stove to fire up for heat first thing in the cool mountain air in the morning. My husband was savvy with the propane torch to start the nicely laid cedar kindling and the fire started right up. Cozy! We were able to freely walk our border collie in the driveway which was nice. The family is clearing some land of trees. Quite an undertaking! Interesting to see Forest management up close. Beautiful small garden and landscape close to the rental. Kids have well kept dogs and there are chickens nearby too. Nice little homestead in the woods.
