Kiahuna Plantation #198 - The Best Beachfront Condominium on Kauai

There is not a Four Seasons Resort on Kauai, so we decided to make our own. Kiahuna Plantation #198 is one of the very few beachfront condominiums available on the island and is the ideal vacation destination for a couple or a family looking for an ultra-rare, relaxing getaway on Poipu's finest beach.

At Kiahuna Plantation, there are only four single-story beachfront hales.

Out of the extremely rare four hales, here is your chance to stay in the nicest one.

We believe our hale is the best beachfront condominium on the Island of Kauai.

Our condominium has the following amenities to make your vacation memorable:

A spacious 650 square foot unit with one bedroom, one full bath, a full kitchen, fully furnished living room with queen memory foam sofa bed, and a dining room for four, Hawaiian ceiling fans, and air conditioning in the living, dining, and kitchen areas. Open your sliding glass doors and enjoy panoramic oceanfront views from your private lanai and lawn. Only short privacy bushes separate you from the warm sand and ocean.

We are members of the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Your reservation includes free use of our membership to the exclusive (members only) club across the street from the resort. Club membership provides you with access to one of the island's only fitness centers with a cardio room and weight pavilion; use of the resort pool, waterslide, hot tub, and sand-bottomed kiddie section; tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts; shuffleboard; yoga and water aerobics classes.

In the morning, enjoy views from your lanai while eating breakfast made in your kitchen. Then grab the beach chairs from the closet and enjoy a full day of surfing on the in-unit surfboard, standup paddleboarding, boogie boarding, snorkeling and swimming - your backyard is Poipu Beach. The Poipu Shopping Village is a short walk away, while the upscale Kukuiula Shopping center is a few minutes away.

In the evening, after watching the sunset from your lanai with a Hawaiian drink, enjoy watching a movie or the big game with your living room and bedroom TVs.
At night, enjoy your best night of sleep as the soothing sounds of gentle waves lull you to sleep. Then wake up and repeat the next day…

Additional Resort Amenities include: the Kiahuna beach activity center, outdoor barbecues, and laundry facilities.

Parking Notes: There is free parking for 1 vehicle. Park anywhere near your condominium.

Cleaning Fee: Kiahuna Plantation operates as a full service resort which includes linen and cleaning service. The resort charges us a cleaning fee, while you only pay a portion of that fee: $199.

Lodging Taxes: Mandatory Hawaii state and local taxes are collected at booking - 10.25% state and 4.25% Kauai Island.

Beachfront at it's best

The Kiahuna Plantation Resort itself is fantastic. Beautiful well maintained property with all the amenities we would have looked for; they were doing maintenance on the fountain/water areas. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Easy access to the local shopping areas and restaurants (10 min walk). Ample parking available.Check-in: We arrived late, they provided info to facilitate that and we did the regular check-in the next morning at the main desk, no issues. Two cards are provided to get beach towels from the beach hut on site.The unit (198) was even nicer than we expected! It had everything we would have wanted during our stay (minus a kettle). The kitchen was spacious and provided ample cookware, utensils and dishes. There is a Keurig as well. We ate exclusively on the lanai for every breakfast and most dinners so we could soak in the views and listen to the waves crashing just before us. The AC unit was good; ceiling fan cooled the bedroom perfectly. One of the beach chairs was broken (unusable), but the other provided gear (umbrella/cooler) was in good shape.Would not hesitate to stay here again if our travels bring us back to Kauai!

Just a perfect location

We loved every moment of our stay. It's right on the beach, the weather was fabulous, ocean temperatures perfect and the right time of the year to see the sunset from the condo. We will be back.

Pros & Cons

Overall, the property was very nice. PROS: Condo was clean and having our towels refreshed after a few nights was a nice touch. Staff was nice. The location was close to a variety of dining and shopping. CONS: - Our biggest complaint is the place where you can exchange your beach towels isn't open after 5:30. This made it difficult to exchange the towels after our activities (if we had to be at the next morning's excursion at 7:30am, the beach shack wasn't open early enough for us to exchange the towels in the morning) It also limited the time we had on the beach the night before we left because we were told we could not return towels to the front desk and had to return the towel cards. - limited parking - There are about 10 spots for 3 buildings and so a lot of the times we had to walk quite a ways after getting back to the condo after dinner. - One thing I didn't realize when we booked this place was when you are sitting on the back porch, you can't see the ocean/beach because the bushes block your view almost completely. There isn't much of a beach in front of the condo so we had to place our belongings pretty close to the very back wall so that the waves didn't get our stuff wet. We didn't have any communication with the owners of the condo - this isn't a big deal since we didn't have any major problems but was something that we noticed. Overall it was a nice place but unfortunately we wouldn't stay here again.

Paradise in Poipu

We loved this Kiahuna unit. The kitchen is well stocked, living space and bedroom fine. The best part of unit is its proximity to the ocean. We loved hearing the constant roar of the waves, the wide expanse of sky and sitting on the lanai. We hated to leave. Thank you for sharing this special place. It is magical.

Wow-breathtaking

My husband and I spend a beautiful week at this property celebrating my recent retirement and our anniversary. We enjoyed our coffee and the sunrise on the patio, brisk walks snaking along the property down the coast line via either paved walkways or the road, sun bathing and gazing at the marvelous ocean and surfers, and happy hour either on our own patio or at the properties with bars on either side of the unit. My husband even ventured out for surfing lessons from the onsite offerings. We also enjoyed the weight room facilities at the Athletic Club that were across the street. They had a pool there too but we didn’t use it since it is not on the beach - we would rather have the ocean breeze and views! The unit was stocked with everything we could imagine (so thoughtful!) and it made having breakfast and lunch onsite very easy. We dined out at the numerous restaurants in the area (make reservations!) and enjoyed shopping in three nearby centers. When I left something behind in the safe the owner was happy to work with the onsite manager to retrieve it for me (thank you!!). We really loved our stay!

A Wonderful Getaway Right on the Beach

This rental exceeded all of our expectations! Located on one of the best beaches in Kauai, the property was clean and modern - unlike many listings, the pictures do a great job of showing the condo. The owners thoughtfully provided many of the basics, including basic kitchen and cooking items, as well as clear instructons on how to use the devices in the unit. The property itself is gorgeous, and provides many of the perks of a resort without any hidden fees. My wife and I had an amazing stay, and we look forward to coming back in the near future!

Paradise in Poipu

This place is exactly as advertised. The resort grounds are landscaped and maintained beautifully. The conveniences such as foot-washing stations, chaise lounges, trash cans and gas grills are abundant and well-located. The towel stand handles a lot more than towels including surfing lessons. The pool and activity center are off-site but easy to access and just a short walk away. Shopping and dining options are right across the street. The beach is one of the best on the island. But the real star is Unit 198. The beach is literally right out the back door. We spent as much time as possible on the lanai soaking up the sun, listening to the waves, and absorbing the beauty. We researched options for ocean view dining but wound up buying steaks and using one of the resort's (very clean) grills. We could not get any better seating for dinner than what we already had. Duke's Hale is clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. The owners and the resort staff are easy to communicate with and very responsive. Check-in-check-out were a breeze. Having air-conditioning is a plus; not every unit at Kiahuna Plantation has AC. If it had been just a bit cooler, however, we would have taken advantage of the louvered doors and windows designed to keep the air moving. Tip: if visiting in the summer and the sunset is not visible from Kiahuna Plantation, walk over to the point at the Sheraton and catch it there. You won't be disappointed.

Poipu Perfection!

Amazing property right on the beach! This was our third trip to Poipu, first time in a condo and we loved having the extra space, stocked kitchen and being right on the beautiful beach. The condo was perfect, clean & comfortable & we loved how it was updated and decorated. The location is perfect...close to shops, restaurants and nice to be able to utilize the laundry facility & fitness center. Loved the overall property with outdoor grills, lawns to relax on and a fun family vibe. Thanks for a wonderful week, we can't wait to visit again!

Great location, super clean and very comfortable!!

I stayed here recently over spring break with my wife and two kids (ages 8 and 10). You cannot beat the location, it is right on the beach with unbelievable views and breezes. My kids would go out and swim in the ocean every single morning and we can watch them right from our lanai. Really calm and clear waters, great snorkeling for kids and adults. Even a small little surf break where beginners can try out for the first time. The unit was great, no issues whatsoever for a family of four. Nice short little walk across to the Poipu athletic club for pool and food/drinks as well. Would definitely stay there again - no complaints at all!

Most perfect place to stay! Right on the beach, bright and had everything we needed

This condo had it all. Besides the amazing location it had anything you can need for the beach and to settle in and cook at home. It was by far the nicest unit in the Plantation.

Beachfront!!

Delightful stay with the sights and sounds of the ocean with us from the lanai to the living area to the bedroom. No need for A/C, with louvered windows allowing a cross breeze. Walked to several restaurants and bars and enjoyed observing the monk seals come and go just down the beach.

Three weeks

Love the Kiahuna Hate the tv system. Every other day is a hassle! Late flights are an issue, just don’t unless you buy an extra day up front! Best new restaurant is in Koloa, The Tasting Room
