The Porches in Saugatuck

We really enjoyed our stay at The Porches. The building is lovely, getting entrance was easy, the unit was perfectly clean and adorable. We were greeted with wine and cheese, delicious. It's a little more expensive, but it was worth it.

Good for a weekend stay

I'd give it 6 stars for location if I could. Just at the edge of downtown and you feel like a vip with reserved driveway parking. The place is pretty basic but had everthing we needed for our stay. The only negative was the outdoor space which was overgrown and neglected - not inviting at all.

Family beach weekend

Stayed here for 3 days with husband and almost 3 year old. Was perfect size for our family. We made great use of the outside seating while our daughter slept inside. Location and dedicated parking space are the big selling points. Steps to everything and a super short drive to Oval Beach. Kitchen was well equipped, full size laundry a nice bonus for a longer stay.

Very good location but too many negatives for a week's stay. Only sleeps 2 comfortably

Negatives: no futon as advertised, hide a bed's mattress unusable, no cable tv, kitchen utensils poor. Positives: excellent location. Small but well layed out. Property needs better maintenance especially outside.

Great location, clean cottage, perfect for the weekend!

My boyfriend and I decided to rent last minute, and couldn’t be happier that we came across Marks guest house. The cottage was very very clean, and much more spacious and updated than the pictures depict. We had our 9 week old puppy with us, who absolutely loved the yard. We went downtown everyday with the cottage being only a block or two away; it was still quiet and private though! We will certainly be repeat renters. Highly recommend Uncommon Roasters and The Barge.

Great Location and space, but...

I want to tread carefully here, because this is NOT a terrible review. First, the positives. The location can not be beat. If you plan on spending the day in town, you can walk everywhere. The inside of the cottage was very clean, and the kitchen, laundry, and bedroom were very well- stocked. It was just my husband and me, and although a king bed would have been more comfortable, the queen was just fine. The location was quiet and secluded. Some observations: having to go down steep stairs in the middle of the night to use the washroom was not ideal. The furniture was on the older side and only the couch was "loungable." The TV was very small and YouTube TV is not user- friendly. Plus we couldn't figure out how to get live news or sports. No instructions were given. Both the inside and outside of the cottage needs a good paint job. The patio tables and chairs in the deck were so dirty they were not usable, and the deck and backyard needs serious maintenance work. Broken gate latch and fence, uneven, hazardous ground, etc. This place has such great potential, but needs some updating and TLC.

Great location

We loved the location of the property and the space felt much larger than it looked in pictures. The patio is beautiful and secluded, but unfortunately the mosquitoes in the evening made it very uncomfortable - despite a citronella candle and bug spray. The main issue was the pull out couch - mattress was thin and very uncomfortable, and the sheets had rips in them. I would recommend this property again but only to those who don’t plan to use the couch as a sleeping space.

Nice place and great location

The unit is very clean and well kept and it is in walking distance to everything in Saugatuck. The only down side is the outside deck which is in bacd condition and dirty, but we would stay here again regardless of the deck
