Seas The Day-650sqft Deck Steps Away From The Beach

Just steps from the beach, the 650sqft deck is the perfect place to kick back and relax between meals and time on the beach.
The first house built in the neighborhood, our home has the charm we believe the fisherman who built it would be proud of. With a fully stocked kitchen, two full baths, an outside shower, two queen bedrooms, a full pullout brand new couch, and a twin trundle in the sunroom that leads to the sliding glass door to the deck with an updated clean white sectional under the covered part of the deck; you can sleep 8 guests and have a comfortable time doing so.
The kitchen island seats two people and the dinner table is updated to seat 8 and we have two flat screens for those moments of unwinding or distracting kiddos during meal time.
With Walmart, grocery stores, and fabulous restaurants just 6 miles east, there’s a general store (Hummel’s) just one mile west with island famous breakfast sandwiches everyday in their deli and basic sundries, sunscreens, groceries, and a huge beer selection. In the same shopping center is a spirits store and a newer location of the best pizza in town Mario’s.
We hope you love our getaway as much as we have and we continue to update and maintain everything so our guests feel as comfortable as possible.

great location

the location of the house is perfect. nice neighborhood and easy beach access/great view. I do not think the house gets properly cleaned between renters. there was sand and grime on every surface, dishes in the dishwasher, beds not made properly, hand soap empty in both bathrooms, and laundry left in the washer. Other than that the stay was enjoyable. The house offers a lot with a perfect location and affordable price.

Needs improvement

This property has such great potential Location is great . AC and beds are comfortable. Deck is awesome Needs to be cleaned and maintained properly. Safety issues … Door lock needs to be replaced Rotten wood , soft spots in the floor , outdoor maintenance between renters seemed non existent ( I had to pick up trash and dog poop!) Certain things were great. But definitely needs some repairs. Some could be a quick fix. Clean and paint. Spoke to owner who rents this for her parents. Hopefully she will look into these items Would definitely rent here again if things were repaired

Dirty and Couch Covered in Ants

We book a beach house every summer for vacation. I gave the owner 3 1/2 weeks to make this right and keep her word but no response for a week now. This rental was probably the worst one yet. It was dirty. Extra sheets and blankets looked unwashed and jammed into drawers. Showers had not been cleaned in a while. Multiple used bars of body soap were left in the showers. We had to sweep when we arrived. Air vents and even walls were covered in dust, months of buildup. We pulled the couch bed out, the mattress had tons of ants crawling everywhere! Then there’s the porch. Mold covered the table and couch cushions. I wouldn’t not even let me kids near it, no way I’d let them sit on it. I took pictures of everything and sent them all to the owner. She said she would reimburse me at least one night. I have yet to receive any money. Texted her twice this week with zero response. Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor and book a different house.

Beach vacation

We had a wonderful time, very close to the beach and it was just as described. The only issue we had was the internet would not work but she tried to fix the problem repeatedly.

Smell

Roomy space - lots of great windows. Great deck area. Strong musty odor we could never get rid of. HVAC filter needs changing - very dirty filter and intake grill. Well stocked kitchen. Great location close to a nice beach- not at all crowded during week days. Couldn’t get wifi pswd to work but that may have been us - didn’t spend much time trying. Figured out the front door lock - after u enter code, pull doorknob toward u so barrel can disengage.

Perfect Location

Regarding location, you could not ask for a better house. It probably isn't more than a 45-second walk from the house to the water (I'm sure more when you are dragging all the toys, lol). The beds were comfortable, the deck was very nice, and the home had all the amenities you would need. We especially appreciated the extra dishwasher pods and trash bags that were left. But, I do think the owner would do themselves a service to either inspect the home or get a new cleaning service/property management company. There were just many little things that all added up to a lot. Examples: The dishwasher was full when we arrived, I didn't mind unloading it, but half the dishes were dirty and I suspect it was because the filter at the bottom was not installed and so it was just sitting in there (I installed it correctly). There were also dirty plates in the cabinet, you could tell they stuck together when in the dishwasher and no one bothered to notice when unloading. The washing machine and dryer were both quite dirty. The middle cap on the washing machine agitator was dirty, so when I removed it to clean it, it was disgusting with build-up on the inside. The dryer also had a ton of sand (to be expected when at the beach) but no one had bothered to vacuum it out. I found the vacuum in a closet but it was so full of sand I had to empty it before I could use it. There were no check-in or check-out instructions and no one told us when the trash service ran so we did not set out the trash can to be picked up. It was 3/4 full when we got there so by the time we left it we didn't have enough room for our last bag. There was a large empty fan box in the pantry no one had bothered to throw away, but we couldn't fit it in the outside trash can. The front bathroom only had 1 working bulb when I think there should have been 4 so you could barely see to shower. None of those items were that big of a deal alone, but it felt like every time we turned around it was something else. All of these items are what I believe a good cleaning service and/or property management company would notice.

Very disappointed

Check in time was 3:00 was 3:30 before received check in door code. Needless to say we were getting anxious, times before we had codes 2-3 days before. There were no washcloths, no blankets, not enough sheets for beds and could have been cleaner. The back toilet started leaking had to call host, noticed there was black mold on wall by toilet. Spent next day waiting on plumber to come and repair, so we lost part of our time.

Nice get away

Enjoyed the beach, got some sun, then froze to death the next day...Texas weather is insane...but the place held up well until my partner locked the doorknob and could not unlock it, we literally could not open the door from within...???? Crazy we had to leave out the side sliding door and leave it unlocked. This needs to be fixed right away, we could have locked everything inside the previous day, if someone was unaware. don't know how this could happen. Everything else was just perfect, very classy place, will come back again, hope they fix the locking issue...
