Great Location.

My family and Sisters family stayed here for a weekend in October. The town and area is beautiful this time of year with the fall colors. The cabin is in a great location on the lake. The cabin is older but well decorated. The beds were comfy and the views are great. We did have an issue while we were there but BigBear Lakefront Properties were very responsive and took care of the issue. We were satisfied with our stay.

Family time

We had a great time in the cabin. Spacious enough for our family of 12. It was so nice waking up to the lake view. The cabin had all cooking essentials (pots,plates, cups) needed. Check in was pretty easy. We would definitely love to come back.

We chose to get away and celebrate with family in this beautiful setting. The house was more than I expected. The house accommodated us beautifully and the two hot tubs were a blessing. I would recommend this home to anyone that needs to get away and relax with family and friends. There is no dishwasher, some of the dishes needed to be rewashed for my liking.

Needs maintenance

Property is poorly maintained. heater down stairs didn’t work, dirty towels, handles and knobs falling off doors, looks like they hired the worst/cheapest handy man to do repairs. There’s an entire air conditioning unit on the ground next to the property With other trash. The listing is deceptive with description And photos when the actual cabin is 2 cabins. We would recommend NOT staying here for the price. Real dump

Out dated but nice

It is extremely outdated. The deck is old as big bear it self. The cabin inside is overall decent. It needs new decks. Needs someone to actually do something with the landscape. There is supposedly a dock but it's locked. No grass all dirt, splinters and weeds.

Relaxing with a great location

Both booking and check in was super easy and convenient. Overall good stay and great family time. Great location, plenty of space, and awesome neighbors! It does appear some funds should be reinvested into the property. The backdoor handle was not secure, furniture in garage apartment was literally on bricks, and two different guests were poked by staples that are dislodging from one of the chairs in the main house. Minor things that we didn't focus too much on or let affect our time. I did not reach out to address these things with the property mgmt company, they were very responsive when I did reach out and easy to work with. Thanks for an easy, memorable stay!

The loft was perfect for the grandparents while the 'nest' provided a great gathering area for everyone. We could put the kids to sleep upstairs and not worry about waking them while playing games downstairs. The minimal furniture and decorative items were perfect for our family of 3 young ones who like to touch everything. The location on the lake couldn't have been better. We had a blast! The only thing missing was a dishwasher

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We Stayed for 3 nights, location was good but the house was in very poor condition. The furniture was very old, the bed mattresses were horrible and we couldn't sleep, the sofas were very old, the kitchen pots and pans were very old and nasty, the out door Spa was not heating the water, having one shower in the main house was very inconvenient for all of us.

Excellent house/location (but pack eye shades)

I will will WILL happily stay here again. My kids loved the foozball table and the layouts of the rooms (my college daughter especially loved having the apartment over the garage to herself). I loved how many odds and ends were accessible in the kitchen (most rentals have the bare-minimum....this location had all the tongs/spatulas/trays/etc for anyone wanting to cook legit meals), and my husband made great use of the bbq on the deck with the perfect view while the kids and I lounged in the hot tub. I loved waking up to the view off of our private deck in the master bedroom....BUT (there's always a "but", right) there are no window coverings in the Master Bedroom, so make sure to pack eye shades. Otherwise the sun will wake you at 6am like lasers. Throw on some eye shades, however, and you'll sleep like a log as the beds are surprisingly comfy for a rental. Overall 4.999 stars for this excellent home!

I rarely give bad reviews but this time I have to share my experience because it was very bad and misleading. Pictures are very misleading. 1. Check in: we had to drive 15 mins pass our cabin stuck in big bear blvd. traffic just for them to look at my ID while they could’ve done that through the door camera or they could’ve sent the door code via email at 4pm. 2. The place is divided into two cabins. To go from one to another you have to use very poor, and slippery outdoor stairs which was very dangerous considering we had kids. 3. The whole place was very unsafe and very old. My daughter injured her bottom of her foot when she was walking barefoot inside the cabin because the hard wood floor had little pieces of wood sticking out. My friend ripped her pants when she sat on the couch because there was something sticking out. 3. The furniture very outdated and disgusting. 4. Bathrooms are in a very bad shape. 4. Rooms are very old and sleeping was very uncomfortable and disgusting. 5. The coffee table in the top cabin was broken and a safety hazard. 6. View was very nice and relaxing but the patio is very poorly maintained and designed. 7. We had to put the trash bags in our cars and drive them to the trash bins place which was very unpleasant and disgusting. Overall it was very bad experience and our yearly trip was very unpleasant because we were very disappointed and unhappy with the quality of the place. Never again.

An only OK stay for NYE

We stayed at the Raccoon’s Nest over New Year’s Eve. It was understandably a busy time in the area but we had a few issues with the property that occurred through our trip. Upon arrival, the wifi was not working and our group tried to get help but ended up having to fix the issue ourselves. The floors were fairly dirty upon arrival and there were multiple fixtures and windows that had built up cobwebs on them. It was a rainy/snowy weekend and the house sprung a couple leaks during the night around the living room. Sadly, the fridge continued to drop in temperature over the course of our trip and a handful of our items spoiled. We ended up putting canned drinks outside as it was colder. Even without opening the fridge for hours and not having much inside the fridge at this point it just got warmer. Also a note for anyone renting, this home includes two separated buildings. The loft has one king bed plus a rollaway if needed and a full bathroom. The main house with three bedrooms only has one full bathroom on the ground floor We did bring these issues to the attention of the rental company after our stay to requested a partial refund for these inconveniences which was honored and we received a little amount back. Also, as a note for anyone thinking to rent in Big Bear. We learned this the hard way but it is required to have the single person who booked the rental check-in face-to-face at the rental offices. Because the office was nestled deeper in town this caused an additional hour of wait time in holiday traffic. Given that you’re already required to submit a photos of your ID & credit card as part of the rental confirmation and that we had about 8 other ppl in our party who could have been authorized to check-in it feels like this city ordinance is pretty unnecessary and was a great hassle. Aside from these issues, the home was livable, had the correct number of bedrooms, the location was good and the hot tubs worked, which was one of my main draws. There was surprisingly a good amount of kitchen items (casserole dishes, grilling tools, measuring cups, etc). We had been told to bring any specialty kitchen items but they really had a lot covered. I’m guessing from other guests leaving things behind. They had the two grills pictured on the porch available and other items for shoveling or sledding on snow were supplied. The house heater worked at warming the home. Overall, it was not a bad stay but I can’t say it was exceptional either.
